  1. PNG athletes (at this time) are still better, and more importantly, bigger, than what Nederland has. Joseph made a difference there, but he came into a loaded program as well that pretty much everyone expected to show a lot of improvement. He would not go to Nederland and turn them into state contenders in a year or two like he was able to do at PNG, although they would without a doubt improve.

  2. If it’s Biden or trump. And I have to choose. I’m leaning Trump. (I can’t believe this great country has given us these options. 342 millions Americans to choose from yet here we are) I don’t care what side of the line you stand, We could have done better.

  3. I think that with a lot of "smaller" schools.. in the area for sure.. it's easier to justify giving a higher salary to the head football coach if AD is attached to the job. In turn, being able to attract a higher caliber of applicant for the job. Plus, you won't get a good football coach (in most cases) if they know they have other job responsibilities other than just coaching football. Even if it's a "coaching job" like teaching P.E. or something... but head coaches will want to reserve those kinds of jobs for their coordinators. And yes.. there will be cases where HFC/AD are much more partial to the football program than to the entire athletic program as a whole. To be fair, their job will be on the line based on the success of the football team.. even if every other athletic teams in the school flourishes. So I get it. That's also why I don't really have a problem with hiring an AD only. AD only can be solely responsible for the entire athletic department.. and the HFC can focus solely on the success of the football team.

  4. I don't think anyone here would argue that the injuns have had better personal the last couple years. And better Coaching without question. The biggest separation was in the trenches., and not so much skill wise imo.... Talent is cyclical, it comes and goes. If Neds new staff lives up to expectations, I see no issue of much more competitive matchups in the future. It's all cyclical ,coaching and talent.....Lets give it some time and see...200 more kids is a plus but by no means the tell all year by year.

  5. Understood, FBM "donkey stomped" Nederland this year by "2 points". Would hate for Nederland to continue getting beat like that with no hope for the win.

  6. And Nederland has beat teams from bigger schools plenty in the past, including PNG. . What was the excuse all those years Neumann sent them home packing? They had a bigger enrollment then. I wouldn't count on school size dictating the size of the fight in the Dog. 😈

  7. I did not insult him. I love him as a coach but he has to have the kids to win. Some people on this site think that an elite coach can win anywhere. That is just not true. png won state because they had the players and had an exceptional good coach.

  8. Preface, I am a FOOTBALL COACH. There are numerous advantages to having an Athletic Director ONLY position. The AD is an Administrator and overseeing every Athletic program is a daunting task, It is a full-time job, if done right. However, Football is a different animal, it is light years different from any other sport. The sheer number of coaches necessary to be competitive as well as the large number of participants makes it different than any other sport. If you have never coached football, then it is going to be very difficult to understand what goes into having a successful program. Having an AD that does not understand the inner workings of what it takes to win in football is NOT a recipe for success.

  9. I went to png and we did not have the numbers nor the size that png has now. Png won state because they had the size in the trenches that it takes to win. Nederland was small in the trenches. No one could have done any better last year. They made the playoffs with a undersized team.

  11. I think the economics of this country is a crapshoot. (Honestly) I just believe that Biden is not physically/mentally up to play the role, rather have a president than a puppet. Trump is up in the polls he should stay away from the media and his ego and just ride the wave .

  12. True! The previous coach, with the same type athletes, for 12 years could NOT get to the big dance. New coach comes in and makes 2 State appearances and wins one. AGAIN -- with the same type athletes. At Nederland, the last coach took Ned to the toilet with the same type athletes Neumann had. It all starts with the coaching!

  13. Png athletes are average and coaching carries them. Joseph would win anywhere he goes but png wouldn't win with just any coach

  15. This is the part I wanted to add to my post but wasn't sure how to say it. Being AD & HFC together sometimes creates a tunnel focus only on football at the expense of the other sports. I've been in the coaching game long enough to have seen this happen. I also agree with the statement that "To be fair, their job will be on the line based on the success of the football team." However, success (or lack thereof) in other sports will also reflect on the AD because he/she is the director of the entire sports program at a school.

  19. So many games in playoffs decided by questionable PK’s this year. Lumberton boys the latest victim. IMO a pk should not be awarded unless there is a clear flagrant attempt by the defender to play through the body or an apparent handball that is outside of the body and blocks a shot on goal. These outcomes have been decided by the referees giving away cheap goals

  20. I've been wanting to respond to this.. I get to see most of these players up close more than most people. Boulwen is pretty closed to 6'4". Walker is probably in the 6'1" tp 6'2" range. Johnson may actually be bigger than 6'2" He has grown an incredible amount since football season. I would not be at all surprised if he was 6'4" or more by next year. On top of that he just finished third in the district 200 and ran legs on the 4x100 and 4x200 that placed third. I feel he probably will be able to take Miller's place on the court and may well be the best athlete on the floor. I would love to think that Troy might grow another inch or two before next year.

  21. See that's the problem people who don't know the facts always talking the wrong stuff. Someone sent a anonymous letter to HR and the superintendent of Pasadena saying the at the ymbl after they played westbrook that he chased the ref into the lockerroom and it took 6 officers to restrain him. If it took 6 officers to restrain him he would have went to jail!!!!!!!! But there was no charges nor was there any reports, and I know for a fact I was at the game and after the game he was at half court talking to Boutte. So you tell me the word that you heard or will you be like everyone else in beaumont and throw rocks and hide you hand?
