  1. None of the above. It’s a dang good coach, exceptionally good players and a little luck.
  2. I graduated from PNG but live in Newton Co. Security 34 years for Newton. I am totally satisfied with our coach and players and support them win or lose. Our coach coached under W.T. Johnston. Played under Curtis Barbay. Was all state two years.
  3. Should. Not sure that will happen in a strong district like they are in. PN-G, Lake creek and Huntsville are established teams.
  4. Surely you do not mean that Nederland will do no better than Monti did last year with all the starters they have coming back. I thought they hired an elite coach and were headed to state. There will only be 64 teams in their bracket. Should have no problem with PN-G this coming year with that big fat line PN-G has. Probably give up about 40 lbs per man. Should be no problem for an elite coach.
  5. Nederland’s district will see PNG, Lake creek finishing One and two. Huntsville probably 3rd. Nederland over west fork for forth. Nederland could possibly beat huntsville for third go bulldogs
  6. I think Ethridge came from a new mexico HS that had a couple of state championships.
  7. UIL has it right. The point is you have more kids to choose from. Teams must buy into the coaches program. At Newton that means an off season weight program. Newton starts with peewee football where kids get interesting in playing football and usually win the championship. This program is coached by a x TCU linebacker. Great man who donates his time that starts newton football on the right track. It is no accident that newton has a winning program.
  8. I wonder why UIL has classifications by the number of kid you have in high school. I know there are exceptions but not the rule. As our enrollment dropped so did the number of kids playing dropped. We went from freshman, soph., JV and varsity, to freshman, jv and varsity. as hemphill dropped in numbers so did their the number of kids playing drop. They abandoned their jv and moved them to varsity last year in order to have enough kids to finish the season. They dropped to 2A this coming year.
  9. hopefully Newton gets back to lights out defense. We have won state the years we have been a complete team. Good defense, good offense, and a QB that can throw the ball . Lights out defense gives the offense more opportunities to score. Defense should be better this year. QB is a question for me this year. We have a lot of good players coming up. anyone know if they have replaced the coach or coaches we lost.
  10. I went to png and we did not have the numbers nor the size that png has now. Png won state because they had the size in the trenches that it takes to win. Nederland was small in the trenches. No one could have done any better last year. They made the playoffs with a undersized team.
  11. Png also has 219 more kids in high school then nederland.
  12. I did not insult him. I love him as a coach but he has to have the kids to win. Some people on this site think that an elite coach can win anywhere. That is just not true. png won state because they had the players and had an exceptional good coach.
  13. Its not the offense, but the kids you have running it. As enrollment drops so does performance( in most cases, there are a few exceptions). PNG has 219 more kids in high school then Nederland.. you cannot put Joseph at Nederland and win district must less win state. Nederland will be better because they have a lot of returning starters but they will struggle to make the playoffs. By the end of the year the Nederland coach bashing club will be howling again. Nederland coach was told last year by adm. that his job was secure if he made the playoffs. They lied get ready for another donkey stomping by PNG next year. Also Ft Bend Marshall, lake creek,etc..
  14. Anyone know who will be Newton’s QB next year?
  15. Exactly, we have been dropping in high school numbers. We are the second smallest school in class 3A2. This alignment we did not lose numbers. Hopefully numbers will slightly go up when the bio refinery gets going. Several years ago we had a soph.,JV and varsity teams and now we have a JV and varsity. Our JV was made up of 31 freshman. Waskom used to be a 3A2 power. As they lost kids there program went south. They are now in class 2A and there winning program will go back up.
  16. Wrong. Coach H will turn it around this year.
  17. You are the only one saying the word worthless. Your returning running back is all district but by your standards that does not mean anything but it does to me. I have not downgraded any of your players just pointing out a 9th grader who has had several scholarship offers including U Houston and Tex Tech.
  18. Unfortunately we will have only one running back( no.3, who made all district as freshman) with D1 talent next year. I look forward to watching Woodville with 3. Hopefully Newton can make the playoffs next year. It would be good to finish in the top four like we did last year.
  19. He did not get an offer, just on the player to watch list. Thats still a good thing, however, you are overrating him.
  20. The film you watched was two yrs ago in the 7 th grade.
  21. google UTN kendray porter this is when he was in the 7 th grade
