  1. Huffman is the best team in the district

  2. I'm an outside, I have no skin in this game. PNG should be considered the favorite in this game, they should be the heavy favorite. That being said PNG has not looked like last years team, they look like a smart, savvy veteran team that is not quite as talented as last year. Nederland if they want to win needs to punch PNG in the mouth from the moment the game starts until it ends they need to turn this into a brawl as much as a game in the trenches. PNG is bigger, stronger, more accomplished, and has the better coaching staff and because of all of those reasons I think the dogs take this one, because it's not called mid-county expectations it's called mid-county madness and madness ensures the dogs come out of top.

    Crosby vs La Porte

It's been a while since there was reason to to start a thread involving a Crosby game outside of complaining about the coaching. With both teams 4-3 on the season but coming into the game 4-0 in district play this one might be worth discussing. Teams are 1-1 since they've been in the district together with each team winning their home contest(La Porte's home game was at BH). This game will likely determine who gets to avoid a first round matchup with state ranked #6 College Station and a probably early exit. The loser of this game will still have an opportunity to finish in 2nd place and even win a share of the district championship with La Porte playing an undefeated Angleton next week and Crosby playing Angleton the week after. The district could very well end up in a three way tie for first place with Angleton, Crosby and La Porte all finishing 6-1 in district play. Fun few weeks to finish the season in 11-5A-D1 As far as the game goes it feels like a great matchup for this year's version of Crosby. La Porte's offense is run heavy and the strength of Crosby's defense is their front seven. Crosby has run the ball extremely well since district play has started, albeit against lower level competition, and based on what La Porte has shown on film personnel wise it looks like we should have continued success in that department. I think the key to the game from Crosby is getting La Porte in 3rd and 5+ situations where we can pick up stops on the run plays they'll try and some defended passes that will force punts in a potential lower scoring field position game. Crosby will also need to clean up some of the penalties and ball-handling from prior weeks if we want to give ourselves the best chance to win.

  5. Obama screwed up my medical insurance.....deductibles are crazy right now, luckily I can afford it. Trump lowered my taxes and I seen it on my payroll check..... Biden has increased everything I buy........ All of those are significant. When I have to spend 20% more than the budget, that typically means 20% less in savings that month. Luckily I'm not one of the struggling families that have to put it on a credit card. You can down play it, I'm sure you will, but all the folks on SSI and social security, on that fixed income are getting 20% less than they were under Trump.

  6. I've watched Vidor play LCM, BC, and HH and after watching those 3 games... the LCM vs BC game is a toss up and the district championship is HH to lose.
    2 points
  7. based on? When BC whooped Vidor after LCM struggled with them, and beat up on L-town, I thought, "hmm... BC might be a lot better than LCM." But then BC squeaked by an HJ team that LCM beat by 36, and struggled with 0-7 Livingston. and herein lies the issue with all the folks who've been proclaiming how great BC is: their marquis win is over a 3A school with two losses. I can't look at these last two results and dismiss them as off weeks because they've literally not beaten a quality team all year except for one pretty good 3A squad. Even if BC beats LCM, their marquis win becomes a win over a decent 4A school with a 4-3 record. They had some impressive results early against probably the creampuffiest schedule I think I've ever seen, but the last two weeks they've struggled with losing programs. To me this game is truly a toss-up, but neither team is going to gain too much credibility for winning it, although I'm sure Cardinal fans will expect that. it'll all become irrelevant the first round of the playoffs.

    Mid-County Madness 2024

DCTF has update the point spread prediction to PNG favored by 26. It was previously 37. Hope this helps.

  9. If that is the case, then one cannot claim who the better QB is until they play each other. It's pretty close IMO.

  10. I don’t expect great outcomes (but hopeful) from Nederland against the top three teams in the district. The fact that they are 6-1 overall and 4-0 in district with three weeks left in the season and being mentioned in district championship discussions has me thrilled though. I had visions of being 3-4 at this point and out of playoff contention with a new coach settling in and a very tough top of the district.

  14. Well, I promise you this Blue_left, no matter how good or bad district is LCM has Won 5 straight with QB, #5 is playing great at TE and multiple positions helping LCM. Not sure how Friday will turn out but LCM is who they are for this season right now. Hopefully passing does improve. I agree with some post earlier, in order for LCM to win, this needs to be a tough, ugly ish game. Not Dirty! Great job for BC having a good year, it’s been a while. Go Bears

    BH Vs. Galveston Ball

Unfortunately you ain’t wrong except we’re Baytown's Daddy😂. #3 from BU ate us up last week , I don’t know how we’re going to stop Williams and company. We better be blitzing early and often and not let QB get set.

  16. In 2016 he picked a fight with the Pope and didn't lose the Catholic vote....lol The media picking on basically everything he says, trying to use it against him has actually helped him. There is so much of an effort to make him look bad, that no one takes it seriously anymore......except the Trump haters....he could cure cancer and end every war, and they would find something to gripe about.

  19. Now to be fair, the two games I’ve seen of Huffman were Liberty and Lumberton. I’ve seen 5 games of Bridge City. Just my opinion from the games I’ve seen. Time will tell all, just have to be patient and let things play out I guess.

  20. Honestly I have watched film on two games of every team in the district minimum. Bearden is the best and I’d say that even if I was a Huffman or LCM fan. I am the one who doesn’t look at things thru rose colored glasses.

  21. I agree. Simply cannot dismiss the QB at Huffman. He is every bit as good as the BC QB.

  22. The best one in the district? I'm curious before I even debate you can I ask you a legitimate question? How much film have you watched of the other teams? Not a shot, just wondering if this is an emotional statement from being a supporter or if if you've actually seen all the QBs and arrived at this decision.

  23. I was on the 04 team and I like to think we were better than the 05 team. Jorvorski Lane is the difference in the two teams and I can't put anyone over the state team although I think we could have definitely played with them in 04 and 05. The glory years. This current Lufkin team is a true throwback. Big time defense and a offense that has weapons all over the field. They have a chance to make an unbelievable run this year.
    1 point
  24. I expect both defenses to get after it but I think the Lufkin run defense will be the difference in this game. Don't think PAM will be able to pass the ball consistently enough to get us out the box. I still think PAM is a year away and Lufkin's time is right now. Lufkin 31 PAM 14

  27. DC still very much in play. Huntsville, PNG, Nederland, and Montgomery could still win it.
    1 point
  28. Montgomery might have something to say about that because they still have to play both PN-G and Nederland...their only loss this year was to Huntsville

  29. I think most folks expected HF to be very good this year, So can't say they are over performing. Ranked very high in preseason polls and picked by all the experts to win district. They were my preseason pick to win district. Now I have WO-S winning district.

  36. I'm mad that I replied earlier but it did not save my reply. From what I observed, United started their show during the 5-minute entrance period. During those 5-minutes, a band enters the competition field and sets up for their opening set. Even if a band starts to play or do some sort of pre-show, judges are not 'judging' anything during this time. At the 45 second mark, the announcer starts to introduce the band and their program. Once the 5-minute period is done, then you have the 8-minute field performance. A band has to stay a minimum of 5 minutes on the field and no more than the allotted 8 minutes. United was officially on the field for about 2.5 minutes. They started exiting the field with about 5:30 left on the performance clock. Normally, a band would be deducted one rating for going over or not spending enough time on the field. I think Beaumont Central back in 2002 was penalized this way. For it to be a DQ, I am not sure if something else happened. When ratings were announced, all that was said was "No Rating."

  37. May be cheesy, but it’s a real thing Harris saying she’ll increase the corporate tax rate to 28% is much more impactful than this stupid nonsense that you’re bringing up.

Nederland likely can match PNG in skill players but can they overcome the PNG offensive and defensive lines? If they can it might be a close game. If they can’t…..

  43. The Bulldogs are definitely improving and I am very proud of them. I do have to agree with…they haven’t played a complete team like PNG all year. That being said, as we all know, records and previous games are out the window when it comes to MCM. Gonna be a GREAT game! Best of luck to BOTH teams for an injury free game.

  44. I will make my one post of the year. It is hard to stay elite, and PNG has done it for 2 years. This game has all the makings of an upset. Winning streak, SC, rivalry game. Defensively, we are not at the elite level we have been. Containment has been a big issue. Nederland has surprised me, and a lot of others as well. If it comes to a shoot out, it’s anyone’s game. I do not see it a a blow out on either side, and I think it’s a toss up on who wins. Nederland showed some grit last night. Whoever shows up ready to play will win this one. If I was a betting man, I wouldn’t bet…. The 2 things PNG STRUGGLES at, is what Nederland is good at. QB scrambling and RB speed off the edge. For PNG to win, we will need to control the clock, and pound the rock. And make a few crucial stops. This will be a very interesting game. And the DC could be decided Friday night. Going to be a very interesting game.

  47. Agree with this. I do think they take a small step back next year, but Scales’ senior year should be a regional tournament team.
