To go to the trouble of getting TD on board, only to not hire his recommendation - I’m not saying there would be a riot, but it might be smart to buy stock in a pitchfork company.

Kountze has been pretty consistent in their rotations throughout district. Outside of the OF game, they have been rotating 5 at a time around the 4 minute mark of each quarter. Sometimes rotating 4 and leaving Sells in the game, but players 6-12 have seen a ton of minutes in district play. They are pretty deep this year.

Something needs to happen because thread is going nowhere fast. Let me just say one thing. If you bring in the right AD/Coach the athletes will follow. Then the fans.

The best defensive lineman PN-G’s got right now is Hernandez. That kicker who won offensive MVP for the Indians in the state championship is Oceguera. The Hispanic kids can play just as well as the black, white and Asian kids. Nederland’s issue isn’t their kids’ race.

Not sure what they offered to replace them with, but if it’s not something that’s anchored to the walls I can understand why they said no. Those type of hang on goals are very common in little dribblers. A moveable standup goal can fall (especially when the bigger kids start trying to dunk on them), has to be stored on site, and also in most gyms wouldn’t fit under the 10 ft goals in place and the base would be in the court of play. Now if they’re offering to buy 10k adjustable units that hang from the ceiling then that’s a different story

Did you see how many Hispanics play for PnG? Have a look at the roster. They’re a strength. With a good program, everyone can excel.

Silsbee will have 3-4 star players back next year. Jones, Johnson and Rice for sure. Boulwen and Shoulders will be good as well. That will be your starting five. Gaines will be a good player off the bench. The rest will have to come from the JV. Of course, there's always the transfer portal. lol This district landscape could change in the realignment tomorrow, We will see.

Our program is usually pretty good all around. Our softball is ranked #6 to start the season. Beat some 6a schools last season including a team that was ranked #20 in 6a at the time.

I like PNG’s non district schedule the last few years. - 1 decently easy win. You can get some different kids in and try some new things. - 1 team that’s pretty equal. You have to play a complete game to win. -1 team that’s better than you. You can learn a lot about your team from all 3 of those type games. I’m not a fan of scheduling 0-3 and getting beat up before district. Monte still may have a job if he didn’t schedule 0-3 starts the last few years. Also with the out of town districts, I doubt coaches will be looking to travel much for non district games. We’ve had enough early releases from school the last few years…..

BTW, EC approached OF about moving this game two weeks ago. So this was not a last minute thing.

Hoping we figured some stuff out last night. UNO’s big may have been the best scoring big they’ve played. Had about 10 points in the first 8 minutes until the Cards found a matchup he struggled with. Also will help not struggling against the 3 like we have for 3 years with rim protection. But that’s easier said than done these days as almost every kid is conditioned out of HS to double down when the ball goes to the block (because very few high schools have a dominant big). Disclaimer: I’m biased but I also know of what I speak.

The odds are against Nederland ever winning state. J J could not take that team and even win district. That is a tough district to play in. It takes more than a good coach to win. Monte went to school in Nederland, was QB for Nederland, went to college and was hired by Nederland, was offense coordinator, then head coach. He poured his heart out for Nederland and he deserved better treatment than he got on this site by several people. Monte is a good Christian and you do not hear the garbage coming out of his mouth. coming from a PN- G grad. Thanks Monte for all you have done for the sport.

Nederland has a young team coming up that is unbeaten in two years. Ned. has a lot of good players coming back. These kids were developed by Barrow. The new coach will reap rewards for what Monte developed. Nederland did not have the size line to participate in a powerful district. PNG did. The former coach you are so proud of, monte was the OC then. Thankfully the people that mouth off about who should be hired will not be doing the hiring.

Timpson lost a lot Garrison will be the favorite in that district but I think they were senior heavy. Hemphill should be able to match up with the others better than the district they were in.
