Sad to say but Beaumont don't have a clue on what it takes to run a successful athletic program, they're literally 20 years behind most programs. From facilities, offensive/defensive schemes they're running, systems that's in place, admin etc etc.

It cycles. Something will change and one or both of the Beaumont schools will get better. The sad thing is Beaumont Central used to take the locals schools behind the woodshed all the time. Even Ozen got its licks in sometimes. It’s weird that combining them made them worse. And we all know Westbrook can be better than they are. The pendulum will swing one of these days and we’ll be talking about another Westbrook playoff run. But, Beaumont ISD administrators needs to get off their self-serving, myopic, arrogant butts and hire a real coaching staff, not just some guy who used to coach in Beaumont who everyone is friends with.

The clock will stop when the officials blow it dead to assess the penalty. After the QB was tackled, the officials stopped the clock because a flag had been thrown during the play. That's the proper protocol. Every penalty has a stoppage of clock if the clock is running.

I'm not sure you're understanding what I'm saying. I'm saying that by the time they're deep into the playoffs, it's been several weeks/months since they've had a "preparation game". You have no idea whether or not the season would have turned out exactly the same or not by playing different schools in the preseason. When you win by 50/60/70 points for 6 weeks in a row.. then keep doing so until round 3, does it really make a difference that you had a close game in week 2? I don't think it does.. the starters haven't played more than 2 quarters since then. If anything, they've forgotten what it's like to have to play a whole game. There's no way that you can convince me that 2 weeks of "prep games" has an effect but 10 weeks of blowouts doesn't. Wanna play bigger schools preseason? Fine.. go ahead. I'm just saying that it doesn't make as much difference as people think. Newton would've won those state titles no matter if they played WOS before district or not. And.. can't be mad at WOS for not wanting to play a school multiple classifications lower... in football. That's a no-win situation for them.

In 4A, BC, Vidor and Lumberton are all tied for first. BC and Lumberton will play Thursday at LCM at 6:30. The loser will be the third seed. The winner will play Vidor Friday to decided first and second.

QB, WR, and RB are all 3 Lumberton’s all time career leaders in Passing, Receiving yds, & rushing yds. 2 of the 3 missed the 1st 3 games and the offense averaged 20pts per game & 0-3 record. Since their return, offense averages 49.6pts per game & 5-0 record since. Defensive minutes spent on field reduced per game due to offensive time of possession increased. Impact to team is real.

Orangefield did lose a good bit.Yeah Kountze didn’t make the playoffs… The team was basically all sophomores but they did play a seeding game with Buna for 4th which they did lose.. they also beat East Chambers once last year as well so it’s not like they were just a bad team. I stand by my prediction that they will be a favorite to win district. After the first few weeks of the season I think others will be on board as well

With that being said, Phillies and Rangers has the chance of being an epic series.

Yes, it happens, in the Early 2000's Ozen was a great program, producing D-1 athletes, even with Brook taking a lot of their athletes. They did sputter after Brooks left, I believe, but still had some good years and good teams. Central was always a powerhouse with probably some of the best athletes in in the State, I definitely seen them take a lot of teams to the woodshed. but like stated in another thread I believe Coaching failed this team more times than not. Westbrook most years was the top team in the area, a few of Rabbs years we're below expectations but for majority of the time the only reason they weren't playing deep into December was due to playing in Texas 5A and later on 6A but was still able to make it to the final game. Still an all Brook has produced. Like you stated I can't see both schools becoming like a La Marque or Galveston Ball, but still I wouldn't be surprised, there has been a large exodus of athletes out of Beaumont.

No offense buddy, and I am not piling on, but when? WB hasn't had a winning record in four years through 2 coaches. BU hasn't had a winning record at all since it was formed (best year 5-5) and that is through 3 different coaches.

Down to Lumberton at LCM, PA Memorial at Barbers Hill or MCM.

I thought about going to this game so I can keep my streak of attending at least one game at that stadium going since it opened. But, nobody offered to pay me to go. Also, I have been told from some local coaches to expect a playoff game or two to be held there this year so I can keep my streak going that way. Now, if someone paid me or at least bought my pregame meal at Pappadeaux's, then I might consider. I got United winning 18-6.

I now reopen the Move Mid County Madness to Lamar argument. $20 per ticket, it will be a sell out, no problem with extra seating on the berm area. Teams pay stadium rental. Let Lamar run concessions. Split the remainder of the ticket money between the two schools. If you can't play football without "so called" home atmosphere. Re the 1947, 71-0 game, I've heard about it many times from my father-in-law. PNG kicked off to start the game, my FIL hit the Ned runner, who fumbled. PNG covered the fumble, then scored, and went on to win 71-0. PNG starters laid down on the sidelines for almost the entire 4th Qtr. The '47-'48 team(s) lost only 1 game in 2 seasons, to Lake Charles (in Lake Charles), which was a farce, officiating-wise. My FIL is 93 years old now, and still talks about it.
