  2. Since this district meets the local district in the first round I wanted to start a thread that I can update scores for this district and kinda talk about where it’s looking like things will end up come playoff time… I know it’s early but barring anything crazy I’ve got a good idea of where this district should finish. Before the season I thought it was Bellville’s district to lose…I was worried about the offensive line losing all but one starter. Currently Bellville starts 4 sophomores and 1 junior on the offensive line but still has good size up front. Even though it’s just been La Grange and Stafford the young line has impressed me. I thought Royal was over rated regardless of what returned last year and so far I’ve seen nothing to prove me otherwise. Sealy was entering the year losing their new starting QB to another school BUT he ended up coming back right before school started and he will make a huge difference for them. Bellville should still beat Sealy for the top spot but we will see. The Sealy QB is only a sophomore but I think he will be special over the next couple years. Heading into week 3 here are my top 4 Bellville Sealy Brookshire Royal Columbia/Sweeny

  8. Been meaning to do this but had a family member being in the hospital but now since I have some time I can tell you guys my rankings and thoughts. So with that being said let's get started with my first pick: 1. Woodville - As I stated in another thread before they have played 2 teams that are state ranked and perennial playoff contenders and played them close both match ups. They will be fine for the rest of the season as the schedule gets easier with next weeks game against Liberty (Only thing I would have to ask myself is Newton is better than Franklin right now because of the score differential but we won't know because of the different classification they're in and hope Franklin keeps scheduling teams out here in Southeast Texas in pre-district). 2. Coldspring-Oakhurst - In the first game of the season I realized that our secondary has improved drastically from last year I think 3 picks against Liberty but I also noticed that the past 2 games the Trojans are not really a good second half team as they will do most of the damage in the first half and get too laxed after that once they put up a comfortable lead. It could be that the defense may be tired or what but next week will be the hardest game outside of Woodville we should have all season in the Longhorns but this time this will be at our house. I do have the Longhorns winning this one but I think we will hang with them better than last season at our house. 3. Palestine Westwood - They blew out 2 teams so far and if the stories I keep hearing about their QB is true then this team is going to make some noise and put the whole district on notice. This is my dark horse pick to win district. 4. Diboll - No knock on the Lumberjacks but this is a completely different team than last season but when district competition rolls around expect them to compete as I feel every team outside of Huntington and Crockett has been better than last year. 5. Shepherd - I had the Pirates either securing the 3rd or 4th slot in district but the loss to Tarkington changes that. The Longhorns are much improved so I expect them to get a playoff spot in that district. But don't count out Shepherd yet because the RB is the trust over there. I expect a win next week providing that the team can correct the mistakes in the Tarkington game. 6. Crockett - This teams is very young and against a state champ in Mart the week before showed that. Last week game didn't do much for them either and I expect for them to be bottom dwellers of the district this season. 7. Huntington - Well the team speaks for themselves but they have played spoilers before in this district and they can do it again. I'll will try to keep this updated every week so stay tuned as I stated that these are my personal opinions on each time regardless of fact or opinion.

  9. lol, I could see this bogus answer coming a mile away so it's not surprising. Dixiecrats, right? lol Spin it how you want, democrats are the party of racism...period. Always have been, always will be. You really should look at the numbers on who voted for and against the Civil Rights Act AND who was most adamantly opposed to it. Your modern democrat party had one thing in mind...votes.

  10. The general never takes to the field. What does an average murder sentence have to do with anything? There are a range of charges and many things affect sentencing as well. Seditious conspiracy, there is no average sentence because it hasn’t happened enough to get an average. In my book, it’s attempted murder of the Constitution. No range of charges on that one. He got what he deserved.

  14. Correction, the 1982 season is when UIL sent two teams out of each district to the playoffs. 1981 season (my senior year) was the last year that only the district champ went to the playoffs.

Maybe it's a logistics/travel issue? However, if you want to realistically compete against BH in the district and go more than 1 round deep, then you are going to have to start playing a non-conference schedule that challenges and pushes you. Based on their current schedule, Oak Ridge might be the most BH comparable team (and that's a stretch) they have played; 0-2 record.

Yeah but that makes the coaches record looks good and that's all that matters right? As Mom said, look at what coach has done for PNG so far this year! 😉

  19. I still believe that Woodville, Diboll, and Coldspring will be battling it out for 1st. If I’m honest, Woodville is the team to beat. They looked really strong when I saw them in Diboll last season which Diboll won 21-14. Could have gone either way. I believe they returned a good bit. Of course you have Coldspring who beat Diboll last year but I still left more impressed with Woodville’s capabilities. Palestine Westwood still has to prove they can actually be competitive against a true solid team. They’ve had a couple weak opponents to start the season. I believe Palmer will be the first true test to see where PW is this year. The PW freshman QB will only get better and will be a fun one to watch. Does he have the supporting cast? They’ve been at the bottom of the district last couple of seasons With what Diboll lost from graduation, it’s a toss up to where they land this year. they’re not short of talent, just experience. They get Coldspring and PW at home so maybe home field advantage gives them an edge

Looks like Sterling beat Pasadena, (25-23, 25-17, 21-25, 25-14). Snaps a 4-match losing streak and rebounds them from a rough Clear Creek tournament (1-7).

  25. I knew it. I just needed to get the clarification from Mr SmashMouth. It's not that he doesn't know the 50. It's more that they would like to remove all references to the past. And he's trying to prove it can be done another way. The NEW Mustang Way. If it fails, hopefully we'll see the old school ways back again. But the past has passed. And we'll wait for the future to prove him right or wrong. I'm hoping for the best. WOS 112% 🧢

  26. Ozen has beaten png 3 times. They beat png in 2002 (Png was 5-5), 2008 (Png was 3-6) and 2012 (Png was 2-8). 2008 and 2012 were the two worst seasons for png this century, and 2002 is tied for third worst. No ozen team has ever beaten a good png team. So, congratulations, I guess. You slew the beast.

Tarkington continued their roller coaster play. Beat Porter fairly easily in first two sets then manage to lose two sets and fall 5 points behind in the 5th set only to comeback and win 15-13.

Yes you are correct, the offense is improved and the special teams is a major issue I think they may go 3-7 which is 1 better than last year. My only disagreement with you is that IMO the entire defense is bad, not just the secondary. I see poor LB’er play and zero pass rush by the DL. I will say the DL was better vs PAM on runs inside the tackle area, however outside the tackle area was wide open

  35. IZZY is right and its not about coaching or athletes at this point in BISD. Both schools have more than enough athletes to at least compete, and when I say compete I saying w/ 5A programs SMDH... The infrastructure for FOOTBALL is HORRIBLE. You can't compete at the 6A level when you don't have all of your COACHES/ATHLETES in the athletic period. Your athletes are put into BEHIND the 8ball when the playing field is not level. 6A OC/DC coordinators should not teach full loads of classes and only coach after school. Athletes cannot compete when the only time they are coached is after school. UIL and the state of TEXAS has allowed sport specific athletic classes (PE/ Athletic Periods) and when some schools take advantage and others don't it shows on the field. Also financially (the stipends in BISD) are not comparable to any of other 6A programs in the state so bringing in quality coaches/ or keeping coaches in a small town compared to LARGER DISTRICTS is hurting no only FB but all sports.. Im sorry but Basketball has a total of less than 50 players in a program. A quality FB program will have 100-120 so make it make since where BISD is putting their attention when it comes Athletics....

  37. I had to do this because not too much light has been shown enough on this district and I think at least 2 teams out of this district can compete during playoff time with Woodville being one of the 2 teams (because I do believe that they will district by default unless something dramatic happens) or Coldspring and Westwood (I low-key have those 2 teams evenly matched for now but also understand that Coldspring is running a new offense so it will take time getting adjusted to.)

If B.C. beats LCM, might as well sign Landry to a long term AD\Head football\head baseball coach contract. I highly doubt you find a better coaching fit for BC or a coach who the BC kids want to play for.
