That's the thing, the family didn't initially move to Silsbee. Just the young man transferred in. It was then deemed "transferred for athletic reasons" so he had to sit a year. IMO, a coach has a responsibility to abide by policy and in good conscious not sign off if it violates UIL policy. The young man is just a soph. He transferred in as a freshman. He has plenty of time to play varsity sports at Silsbee.

I have been following this thread for quite some time and finally decided to chime in so here goes... As a personal friend of Coach Landry I am excited to see how he does on the football field. My son not only played for him but he also coached with him so I feel like I can give a somewhat educated opinion on what he brings to the table. I will be truly shocked if the BC football team is not much more prepared and in better shape compared to last years squad. If Landry runs the football program like he does the baseball program then it will get better because he does a great job of preparing his players for just about any situation. How many wins that translates to who knows, but they will be more competitive and disciplined without a doubt. I have had a couple of friends from other schools who have kids playing on teams that BC has already scrimmaged and they all commented that you could tell a difference from last year. Just like with the baseball teams Landry will focus on what they do best and adapt to that instead of trying to be something they are not built to be. I wish the entire program nothing but success and hope they have a good season. Rake1 P.S. Personally I will enjoy (BC football having some sort of success) to no end knowing that some on this thread who are ridiculously vocal about the perceived discrepancies between football and baseball at BC have to not only root for the baseball coach to have success but actually have to give him credit at some point. Only time will tell.

I don't disagree with you, PNG losing to 3A Buna twice is an even worse look than losing to Sterling. Maybe disregard the TGCA poll too since they ranked PNG soley on record with no account of who they have beaten or lost too. They need to get more voters because its way off. Reference the TVI poll instead which is 100 times more accurate. As far as who would I rank above them, well that is the issue IDK. I think with only 4 games played though while other teams have played 10 plus games should maybe make them an incomplete. No beef with BC other than I know they are not in the same class of the teams they had the previous two years. The KSA tournament is not a good tournament unless you just want to visit Disney World. That is interesting because the best high tournament in the country is going on this week in the Austin Area with Volleypalooza. You want to get challenged that is what you sign up for not KSA.

Have there been any calls to TASO and UIL or complaining on this very forum in regards to Lumberton losing a game cause of injuries in the past? Inquiring minds want to know.

The huge Sweetgass Village subdivision going in on 1942 is what's going to make or break Crosby in 6A. If it ends up being more Pine Trails than Sterling Green than I think we're going to be fine. If it's the opposite then we could end up with an enrollment over 3,000 and hardly any additional football players which would put us in a real bind.

We’ll see. BC plays Orangefield then travels to the Dayton Tournament this week. Two of us vote on this and we feel they do belong.

Actually CalPreps had PAM winning last year by 7. DCTF had PN-G winning by double digits.

If they don't abide by the PAPF policy, we would have kids jumping to the next school anytime their parents get mad at a coach, they don't get the playing time or position they want, or they want to be at a stronger program. There isn't a transfer portal in high school and for good reason. It's not usually a problem in small town USA but in the city when a different school is one block over, it's a huge issue. Now if a parent truly moves into the district, then by all means, let the kid play. We won't talk about those schools who hire mom or dad just so junior can come play. It happens.

You can use it as it makes your fanbase happy but all I can tell you is it is way off. That is the problem with the TGCA poll, all they look at is records and don't weigh strength of schedule. Lets look at BH, two of their losses are to the two of the top 3ranked teams in the 6A poll but yet they are 14 and behind #9 Foster who they just beat in a sweep? Their other two losses are to stacked private schools, one who is the back to back 6A state champions in Oklahoma. Not taking that into account is laughable at best.

Nederland and PNG being so far east really puts them on an island they need that Lumberton Vidor enrollment to get back to 5A numbers again.

I understand that but its not like Silsbee and Westbrook are in the same district or classification. These head coaches are acting like babies when kids transfer. If that family wants to move to another school, so be it. Silsbee has lost kids to Beaumont and Kountze in the past. The Westbrook head coach is in his feelings it seems.

I'm sure this coach doesn't have a problem accepting athletes from other schools. Silsbee athletics suffered a huge loss in girls basketball to West Brook, but you don't see us acting like little babies over it.

What teams would you put ahead of Bridge City at this time? It feels like you have some beef with BC for some reason lol. Buna is sitting with 7 losses. 5A PNG has 2 losses to 3A competition. Bridge City is in the very early stages of their schedule with one loss. So I'm really not understanding why a team with one loss in four sets (one being 29-27) is all of sudden not worthy of a top 5 rating for our corner of the state. Bridge City will face PNG in the Dayton Tournament, so we'll get a look at two of our local teams. Next week BC travels to Orlando, Florida for the KSA Tournament.

I'm a Huskers fan and I 1000% agree that they are out of place in the B1G. They make plenty outside of the media share they get, but moving out wouldn't be fiscally smart even if it means being more visible with a better chance to win.

I agree with you. Bridge City has only played four games. Two of them were Dayton and United. Sterling has been their only competition so far. PNG should be in 2nd place knowing they are 12-3. If they were still playing each other August 25 like they were suppose to, then it would determine who actually should be in 2nd place.
