I've been in this group a very long time. I'm very impressed a subject so many people are passionate about has remained a somewhat civil discussion. 10 years ago this would of had half the posters in time outs.....lol

You're understanding is flawed. The actual Hebrew interpretation is thou shall not murder, more precise interpretation is thou shall not take an innocent life. The unborn is innocent, convicted criminals aren't.

Actually we’re debating for the rights of the unborn child. The woman can make her choice prior to participating in sexual relations, but the unborn child has no one supporting his/her rights, nor any choice in the matter. Others decide if the unborn child will live or be slaughtered. Their bodies torn apart and parts sold like a piece of cattle.

And you probably think murder is atrocious. If so, you can understand why anti-abortionist find abortion so repugnant, we see it as murder. Whether you’re pro or anti, that explanation should at least show why those anti-abortion or so adamant about it. To the pro-abortionist it’s a matter of “rights”, serious enough in it’s own respect, but murder tops it. I post this not to change your opinion but simply to show why those of us in the anti group feel as strongly as we do.

Nope, they are still guilty of the crime they've commented. Yes, God will forgive them for their sins if they truly ask Him and they will enter the kingdom of heaven, but they still will pay for the consequences of their actions. Which in a death penalty case, he/she will and should be put to death.

The same people complaining about abortions are the same ones complaining about people having kids for the government handouts. Literally the poor (and particularly the minority poor) just can't catch a break from the right.

Where do the left get the idea that those against abortion don't care about the kids after they're born? That's a bunch of BS. I get it that there are children not wanted, neglected and not loved, but that has nothing to do whether or not someone is for or against abortion. I think that's just a made up excuse to kill a unwanted baby.

Let me throw this out for thought. Govt says woman has a right for an abortion. Opposition says, if you have the right to an abortion, then the Govt has the right to tie your tubes and prevent further pregnancies and abortions. What say you?

You can argue and say that I'm pro-choice all you want, but the truth is: I'm pro-life. Their lives. Women's lives. You don't get to pick and choose which scenarios should be accepted. It's not about which stories you don't agree with. It's about fighting for the women in the stories that you do agree with and the CHOICE that was made. Women's rights are meant to protect ALL women, regardless of their situation! Overturning Roe does not stop abortions, it stops SAFE abortions! Abortion is healthcare. Like I stated above, I really don't have a side. I see both. I don't think this law should be broad stroked. Should be fine point. I don't agree with all abortions but I don't agree with anti abortion. It's a tough decision.

Honestly, that’s a sticking point for some. I get it. But I can tell you that if my wife was raped and became pregnant, she would have the baby and either put it up for adoption or possibly even keep it. She would have my support either way. It’s a fair question though.

I don't know anyone that is against contraceptives pre-conception, and I don't know of anyone or any group trying to make it hard to get these. If you believe life begins at conception, why would you want Planned Parenthood sites operational. I must assume this concept is too complex for you to comprehend. Lumberton growth demographics show a lot of younger families with younger kids in some of the newer subdivisions while other newer subdivisions indicate older demographics that have retired or kids are college aged. They will eventually hit high school in a few years and thus thrust Lumberton back into 5A.

I agree we are getting closer to a swing state. I disagree with abortion, but I think there are times it should be an option, rape, medical issues, etc. I think that option should be closer to conception than delivery though. However, this particular issue is not for or against abortion itself, but that the SC should not decide it as a constitutional issue. That I agree with.

I’ll answer your question with a question. Is putting a person guilty of capital offenses to death the same as taking an innocent life of a child?

I bring up that point over and over again, and the response is always basically "nuh uh." The truth becomes obvious anytime there's a thread on here about welfare and social handouts. The ironic thing is that I actually agree with them on welfare reform and reducing handouts. Folks just don't like it when you point out the disconnect between fighting tooth and nail to make sure these babies are born, but then fighting tooth and nail to reduce the services and money provided to them as they're forcefully born into poverty and crime-ridden environments.

Don’t lump me in with the “You Guys”. I have a bigger problem with Corporate Welfare and Cronyism. My brother and his wife tried to adopt 3 times due to the fact they could not have children. All 3 times the adoption fell thru because the mother changed her mind at the last minute after having the opportunity to hold the own child in their arms. It’s not as easy as you think to adopt a child not to mention the ungodly red tape you have to go through. The list of parents waiting to adopt is forever long. I say cut the bureaucracy for these parents an get the unwanted kids into these loving homes of parents wanting kids.

the left doesn't care about them either, and I'm not at all saying that. Both sides use these unborn babies as a pawn, but neither truly cares about them. The left doesn't care about them before they're born, and the right doesn't care about them after they're born. And yes, the vast majority of unborn babies that y'all fight so hard to save will end right back in that cycle of poverty, and will repeat the cycle with unwanted pregnancies of their own.

There's not a constitutional right to life for unviable embryos, so that's a moot point. tens of millions more people on the government teat. You guys already complain about all of the folks on welfare/food stamps, medicaid, WIC, etc. An overwhelming % of those 63M would be putting a giant drain on all of those programs, and who do you think will be the ones complaining about it? Like I always say, the motto for the right is "love em in the womb, screw em once they're born."

Yeah, but they also expected there to be a separation of church and state. Nobody wanted a "church of England" over here. The whole thing is you have to find a balance. Christians believe in paying tithes. Should the government seize 10% of your gross income to give to churches? It's ordered in the Bible, after all. Slavery was illegal right up until it wasn't. It took the 13th Amendment, not the Civil War to finally end the practice in the US. It would be really simple to outlaw abortion through the same procedure- A constitutional Amendment banning abortion or allowing it... except neither side has the votes to do so... never have, never will.

Democrats are going to have to bring their "A" cheating game if they want to overcome this red wave coming.

Well buddy I have adopted one into my house and I also have 4 of my own kids. i take care of all them on one income….. The cycle will never end because we bail adults out of the responsibility. Since your all for snuffing life out. Sit down with your kids and look them in the eye and tell them your ok with killing babies. Can you do that? With your mindset you will get a reaction from child that you will dislike. Children have a way to answering life’s problems in a very pure way. do you value life at all….yours, your parents, your children, your students? also since you want to blame Christians for things….if I’m not mistaken you’ve mention that your wife and kids go to church…..are they part of that group you blame too. how many reasons or excuses can one come up with as well as not be hypocritical to try to validate the killing of innocent pure life?

Only thing all of these come down to is having a woman make a choice as to whether a child lives or dies, in essence giving her the power of God. What makes her so knowledgeable and wise to be responsible enough to make a life or death choice when this same knowledgeable and wise woman couldn’t make a responsible choice to protect herself? Most of those you listed are few and far between. Most use abortion as birth control when birth control is available, and probably free.

My humble opinion is that our state is getting closer and closer to a swing state, and the right isn't going to get away with doing extreme conservative right things for very long, even if the SC is (for the moment) stacked with conservative justices. It's also true that all the guys on here backslapping over this would be losing their mind if the roles were reversed and a bunch of liberal justices were setting liberal precedents that weren't representative of the country's beliefs as a whole.

sure thing. when fine folks such as yourself start stepping up and taking care of these unwanted kids after they're born I'll reconsider. the right's lack of support of poor children and children in the system shows who THEY are. I've adopted two of those kids into my house. What have YOU done to help, apart from advocating that they be born?

I just don't think that occurrence happens enough to not consider the millions of abortions that happen as a method of birth control. I’m sure we could come up with all kinds of scenarios that are minuscule to the number of children killed for convenience.

That is a conundrum...although the rape part of the equation shouldn't be factored in. In any situation in which the mother and/or baby is in jeopardy, the decision should be made between the mother and doctor (and possibly the father, her family, the father's family...scenarios will differ). There are too many scenarios to list out in a written law. Morality should rule the decision, but morality is inheritably indefinable. A case-by-case decision is the best we can hope for. I started to bring up the situation in which the mother and/or child's life was in danger, but I hate this topic with a passion and decided to drop it. I think I will now partake in a drink or two.

I really don't have a side either. If you think that human life begins at conception, then any abortion is murder. If you think that human life begins at birth, then any pre-birth abortion would be acceptable. I don't see how anyone can factor rape into the equation. It is either murder or not.

Just watched a liberal lady whining about women should have a choice. Pardon me lady, but you can make the choice prior to conception. If a woman doesn’t wish to have a baby she can take a pill to prevent pregnancy, similar to people having to get a vaccine to keep their job. They can get their tubes tied. Force their partner to wear a rubber. And gasp, abstinence.

Youd undoubtedly be shaming, demonizing and belittling the unfortunate kids being born into crappy families with no support systems for being welfare drains. “Pro-life” crowd tries their absolute hardest to make sure we don’t teach sex Ed in schools, make it hard to get birth control and contraceptives, try to shut down planned parenthood, try to reduce food stamps, etc.. etc.. nothing “pro-life” about that. I’m all for inter racial marriages. I dated numerous races before I got married assault is assault no matter the persons make up I’m against gay marriage and all that other shenanigans but I’m not saying beat or kill them either Yeah I do stand up against those that want to murder babies. for the most part, I'm very good with it. The left does a ton of insane stuff these days, and I don't like the direction they're going, but that doesn't change how I feel about many topics. There's a lot of stuff that used to be considered liberal that is now considered reasonable by anyone who isn't an ultra-conservative Christian. The woke ultra-left has taken things too far, but i have zero issue with homosexuals getting married, people being treated fairly despite their race/ethnicity, men not being able to tune up their wives without repercussion when they "get out of line", adults being able to decide who they want to be, and women being able to make decisions in regards to their body, which are all things that weren't happening 50 years ago. Look at how bad things had to get on the left before people were willing to swing their votes back to the right. Immediately pushing legislation that'll take us back to the 70s on social issues is not a winning plan.

If we didn't have a political, corrupt FBI - it'd take them a couple of hours to find the leaker today.
