  1. Some folks have known but I will make it public. My time as a full time administrator/broadcaster is up. I told my wife of 33 years that when she retired from teaching that I would retire with her to the beach. She retired last May and I told her I would finish out the football and basketball seasons of this year then I would join her. (would have joined her in May but needed to stay on after the passing of our beloved admin WOSGrad). I am so ready to be a beach bum. I have enjoyed these past 17 years here on the site. I have seen it grow from just a little message board to now be considered a valuable media outlet. It truly has been a labor of love. First of all, I want to thank Jordan Wilson, the owner of this site, by inviting me on as a staff member and eventually an administrator. He trusted me with the help of running this site and allowed me to "do my thang" and start my broadcast career. It has truly been a blessing. Thanks I want to thank Todd Broussard (WOSGrad) who is looking down on us from heaven. He has been my partner in crime for all these years and is the reason this site is what it is today. He was the man!! I dearly miss my old friend and I hope that he is up there saying "job well done my friend". Thanks Todd for everything you did for me and this site. I want to thank all the staff members here. Particularly Lucas, Mack, Robert, Terry, Matthew and all of the other staff. You have helped make this the place to be as for Southeast Texas sports. Thanks for all the support over the years. Thanks to all the coaches that I have come to know and work with all these years. Thank you for your support and cooperation and your acceptance of me and SETXsports. I am truly grateful. Thanks to all the members here who really are what makes this site so great. I have become friends with several here and I cherish all the times we have spent on and off this site. God Bless all of you. I wish all and this site the very best. I will still be around some but it will be mostly from my chair on the beach with my toes in the sand holding a cold one. Thanks again to everyone and May God Bless.

  3. I hear Arceneaux won tournament mvp. Congrats to him. Great kid raised by some good people! But my pick for tournament MVP would’ve been Dotson or Porchia. great back and forth game. I’m just glad BU was able to make the better plays at the end. They caused turnovers late and made key free throws. Key steal late for Porchia. I look forward to the parade once the team gets back to Beaumont!

Yes they do but they don’t just walk on the floor and know how to play. Silsbee is the perfect example of players and parents that buy in to a system and are successful as a result.

  18. Happy retirement Mike. Man, not may people get to make a career out of something they love, like sports. You blazed a trail. You have kept me informed. I love Silsbee Tiger basketball. I like football too but not nearly as much as basketball. Has it been 17 years? I guess so. I've been around for most of them. Before this board getting information on Silsbee sports was hard to do. The local Houston teams just don't excite me. Then the frustration ended. I would tweet on twitter. WOS would sometimes comment back. I didn't even know somebody was paying me attention. SE Texas fans have been blessed especially tiger basketball fans. You did a great job.

  19. True fans. Facts. Not the ones that only pop in when BU’s losing and immediately criticize the star player or the HC, but go silent when BU’s on a roll…. 🤦🏾

  22. Fair play, integrity of the game, avoiding any appearance of impropriety, avoiding altering players careers, disenfranchising fan bases, opening itself to criminal gambling influences, the list goes on. Yeah I know these are archaic concepts that NO ONE cares about anymore, but I still do. I have the audacity to believe there is still a right and wrong, even though we are talking about the National Felon League. Crazy, ain't it?

  23. well if he can have the right leadership around him - and put in work ethic - you 100% can be competitive - i absolutely love when a young man dedicated himself and creates opportunity from hard work i stressed to my son constantly 1) develop your body: work out grow muscles - run increase your endurance 2) institutionalize fundamentals of the game: practice until fundamentals are like breathing - you just do the simple things in game instinctively 3) develop mind: study film and the game - understand ppl are creatures of habit learn those tendencies - educate self in class room - and be a persons of humility/respect/teamwork/integrity/compliance/value creation 4) talent - all you can do here is master first 3 because you have 100% control there and use all that GOD birth you

Interesting topic, there needs to be 8 per team( maybe 10 on 1st team) because in all reality that is what a real rotation looks like at most levels. I think 5 would be silly because nobody only plays 5 for a whole game. So it looks like harris and miller were the two best players, who was next? LCM/OF/WOS/BC/Vidor/& Lumberton all had good players. I saw all these guys when my Indians played them, please don't just give me the most ppg because that is not a true indicator of who was the best.

Bottley aka "The Glove"!!! Ask Caldwell at Faith Family and the Booker T Washignton guard who was hot the 1st half vs Silsbee to be shut down in the 2nd half. Bootley will stick to you like glue.

  31. It really is a joke. That should be addressed. Silsbee literally was the best 4A team in the state. Not sure why they basically had to play what amounts to a 6A team in the tournament. It's laughable.

Shouldn't be 10 players on first team. That's not even including superlatives. As for when to post, I think it's tacky to do it within 5 minutes of the last team losing.
