Orangefield, Silsbee , Vidor ....not in any particular order. Orangefield has a lot coming back and will be tough to beat. Vidor's pitching will keep them in the game(probably the best rotation in the area) just can they score and play defense??? Silsbee is pretty loaded pitching and hitting 3 returning seniors in Hartman, Youngblood and Sundgren and A loaded Jr class Glaze, Simmons, Wise and Mitchell .....little bias but I'll take Silsbee to win district 😁

Man an Evadale - Colmesneil matchup would be must-see. Those teams hate each other. Last time Evadale played at Colmesneil (if I recall correctly), there was a scrum the first drive. There were several players kicked out and as a Bulldog player was walking off he saluted the Rebel sideline. Now, I’m quite sure something caused his reaction from the Rebel players, but it was heated. Again, if I recall correctly the coach (at the time) for Colmesneil had backed out of some games and tried to get other teams to back out of the Rebel schedule. Game would probably be played at Jasper and would be a fun playoff game. If I’m wrong please let me know.

When BH played them first game of the year, I told my Buddy, that’s what Manvel looked like 5-6 years ago. I’ll be surprised if they don’t Atleast get to regional finals. I was told they will be 6A next realignment. One of those new schools that population exploded in the middle of realignment.

For a coach you sure seem to miss a lot of the game, seems like you would have noticed more.

We’ve overachieved in my eyes but I thought we would struggle after losing so many to graduation. What I didn’t realize is we had a Junior QB just waiting for his opportunity to step in and lead the Pirates. We really have experience all over the field aside from maybe Linebacker and the secondary.

District play would be tougher but getting Galena Park, Madison and Houston Sterling in the first round is a lot easier than Hightower, Manvel and Angleton. Especially when you can get a Cedar Park in round two. Crosby may get FB Willowridge and Marshall the first two rounds of the playoffs.

There is nothing around here for many people. Plenty of opportunities in Houston (hour and 40 minute drive from where I live) which isn't far from here. Population in the area is declining for many years. I have seen people cleaning land and ready for construction on Chevron-Phillips plant (which we say it could be a finished deal) around Highway 87 in Orange most recently. It may help the area a little (but might be not a whole lot).

And I saw Lorena beat Cameron Yoe by a pretty good margin Friday so that was a definite quality win for yall

Looking at some of these videos reminds me what a friend of mine who does videos, highlight shorts and such told me. He said if I or whoever had any homemade or original videos, highlights of Silsbee beating WO-S to hold on to them that they were so rare they were priceless. If you have any of these you may want to check around and hold on to them for a while.

A second? I talk about timing all the time particularly and did so particularly when I was working. A car going 60 miles an hour goes approximately 90 feet a second. In 1/10 of one second her vehicle went about 9 feet. If she would have entered that space and 1/10 of a second earlier or 1/10 of a second later, she would’ve never been hit. When people get in a car accident and the other person ran a stop sign but maybe hit the back passenger door where no one was at, they will say something like, I was in a bad wreck but I did not get hurt or maybe got a couple of bruises. Yeah…… but if you had entered that intersection 1/30 of second earlier, we would be calling you a ride to the morgue. Life is literally that close in time.

Angleton will have a pass heavy offense this year, though they will run some too. Last year they were transitioning to a spread from the wing-t and didn't get the spring and summer drills to make the change because of covid. Angleton does have a player on Dave Campbell's Class of 2023-Top 100 list, Kariyen Goins who transferred from Brazosport. Angleton's QB, Ewells, is a sophomore who started the last part of 2020 as a freshman. Last year's early starter at QB is still there but has been moved to wr. Goins was a QB at Brazosport but will play wr/fs at Angleton. There is a video of highlights and stats from Angleton's scrimmage with Columbia on Maxpreps and Hudl. It is the one marked "Recap..." and not the one marked "Highlights..." which appears to be from a subvarsity scrimmage. Ewells is wearing #3 at the scrimmage, with #11 at QB being a backup.
