I always find it funny how Coaches that have a winning history talk about how they don't have many "Players/Athletes". That it is all the program.... If they were doing well in just one sport I would agree but don't let him fool you.... they got DUDES!!! In the last 2 years basketball went 62-15 (Reg quarter-finalist/ State runner up) and baseball 43 - 7 (season cut short.. ranked #2, and Regional Finalist) with out having Athletes... sorry don't buy it... sounds great in a interview though..

Lumberton basketball isn’t the same in previous years, these guys play really hard, they are well coached.

If I’m sitting some betting odds in Vegas, here’s my thoughts (Disclaimer: this post for mature audiences who have more sense than to take my advice, lol. Post is for entertainment purposes only since picking my nose is difficult [Dam hair]). I’d pick Crosby by 5. LH has to score almost every time they get the ball, because Crosby will. Can’t see LH stopping Crosby, except by turnovers, or several big penalties. Crosby has had trouble with the Slot T in the past, but new DC, and great team, so who knows now? These Panthers run that Offense very, very well. My guess, they’ll still have problems. Discipline is the key to stopping it, and Crosby just can’t stay at home. Since I don’t see LH stopping Crosby, & think it’s unlikely Crosby will be able to stop LH often, I’m sitting the Over/Under at 105. Finally, hope - everyone has a safe trip - no player injuries - and great referees. Anticipate this game being a good one to watch. Anyone know if game is on radio? If so, what station? Go Cougars!

Not good. Supply and demand will rule. We already have more college graduates than jobs. It’s just going to create an even more miserable situation for all. You’ll have 100 degreed candidates applying for one or two job opportunities, and by definition employees can pay a even smaller salary because of the glut of graduates. Not to mention the increased tax burden that the rest of us will share, regardless of our education level. The argument goes “college grads make more money” and it’s often true. However, it’s also a function of the mindset and work ethic that achieve that distinction. A young person who is intelligent, self-disciplined, responsible, and motivated enough to work through a degree plan would be expected to achieve greater things. You can’t just hand people a degree and expect them to meet those same levels of success. Comparison. “People who religiously pay their tithes are blessed financially” they also say. It’s true... most people that I know who honor that commitment to their church DO seem to do really well. However, could their good fortune also be explained by their self discipline in regards to tithing also be reflected in ALL of their financial decisions? Their conservatism would also be exhibited in better financial decisions in regard to purchases, financial decisions, and saving as well? I’ll bet there’s a correlation. Nobody likes the idea that some kids go to college and some kids can’t. Life choices have consequences. It’s not a kid’s fault that his parents made bad decisions, but it’s not my place to make up for their shortcoming because I’ve been steadfast with my decision making.

We can’t afford to feed, clothe, house, educate, provide healthcare, and give a free cellphone to 7.5 billion people just by “making the rich pay their fair share.” Oh, I left out “pay reparations” and provide “environmental equality” whatever that means. “Corporate greed” they all cry. But when you raise taxes on businesses, they don’t just soak up those costs, they pass them onto their customers regardless if they make more or less than $400k per year. When corporations lose money, their stock prices plummet, which suddenly destroys that 401k that is heavily invested in stocks. Regardless of your income, btw. We can’t keep scratching stimulus checks and unemployment bonuses for everybody... it’s just not viable. Eventually people here will know hunger. Its inevitable.

I dont post much, but I have read this several times in this thread and want to clarify, Army and Navy run the flexbone not the Slot-T. These two offenses are very different from one another, while you can do similar things out of both, the essence of Slot-T is a power run game; where as with the flexbone the primary factor is the option game. Just wanted to clear that up.

You can have the best strength coach in America but if the kids don’t dedicate themselves to working out during school and off season it won’t matter. I honestly hope they do improve.

Wish Coach Reyes luck in his new endeavors. Hopefully he'll get his staff together and spend some quality time with the middle school program since they will be moving right next to the high school. Hire a strength and conditioning coach. He has a good freshman and sophomore group to work with.

I think everyone knew/knows how good BU is. I think the hard pill to swallow is admitting Nederland was overhyped. They graduated 9 kids or something last year, one playing at A&M (playing solid minutes) this year. They lost all of their speed and ball handlers. They have a player in Jackson and a streaky shooter in Gipson. And then a bunch of average players. Probably finish 3-4 place in district. BU is talented and will make a run at the title but glaring point from this game is Ned being exposed as average team. Nice wins over WB and an odd game for HJ, that’s about it.

There's an easy formula for frustrating and beating Silsbee this year. Simply get a lead (any kind of lead) then slow the game down and run your half court offense. Only take good shots or attempt lay ups. Take a good minute off the clock each time if you really want to frustrate some Tigers. Run all of this through McClure, and maybe the Raiders will pull this one out. Sounds simple enough in theory. Whether or not Lumberton has the personnel to pull this off remains to be seen. We start two freshman and two sophomores, so we are very young. We also have a lot of improving to do. I hope we approach this game like it's a win or go home playoff game Friday night.

There isn’t a lot of 4.4-speed at Liberty Hill,” Vance said. “What we do lends itself to the average high school kid. It’s not about being bigger or taller or even faster. What we do is about execution. We do what works for us.” And if that sounds like a complaint, it isn’t. “I’d struggle to coach the elite kids. I do better with the workmanlike football player with us running an unselfish system on offense and defense. We don’t need a back to carry the ball 30 times for us to win a game,” Vance said. “If we’re willing to work hard, we’ll be successful. It isn’t about the individual. It never has been. That’s why we win.” Liberty Hill was the perfect fit — a workman-like rural town on Highway 281 between Georgetown and Burnet. The Panthers suffered through a long-spell of losing before Vance’s arrival from a previous stop as a coordinator at San Marcos High School. “I’m not a rah-rah guy. If I need to get you excited for a game, you’re doing the wrong thing. We don’t have 1,000 jersey combinations or anything like that,” Vance said. “Liberty Hill ended up being the perfect place for me, as a coach and for my family. It felt like the right fit when we took the job and it ended up being the perfect situation. I was fortunate, no doubt about it.”

Anyone have any idea how many Teams run the Slot T? Doubt there’s that many, but yet there’s one in 5A & one in 6A in the State semis. And if the Slot T mask overall talent, makes one wonder what a talented team could do with that offense. How about FBM running it with their speed and size? Imo, only thing it needs to be an awesome offense is a QB that can pass. Vidor’s QB runs a lot, but in the films I’ve watched of Liberty Hill, their QB rarely, if ever does. Just because it’s different doesn’t make it bad.

Slot T will usually mask a lack of overall talent top to bottom with precision blocking and deception, but what I have noticed at the 5A and 6A level it usually only gets you so far before you meet a group that is just as disciplined and will slow them down, make them get out of their comfort zone and pass a lot more. Fact is once you get this deep the teams are all very sound, disciplined and do the little things correctly. Then it's no longer about scheme as much as it is about talent. I got Crosby with the W.

Incorrect, Visitor side is sold out, and the home side has 345 tickets left. Imo this matchup should have been played at a much larger stadium being a 5th round game.

Crosby has already played 4 state ranked teams plus several other teams that have them ready to get to a state final. Yes, Liberty Hill is a good team with a difficult offense to prepare for. But they have not played strong teams. Liberty Hill was in a weak district (I know, so was FBM) and Region 4 is not strong. It’s Austin area and Rio Grande. Not even Corpus has teams. They have only been challenged in the last 2 weeks by non state ranked teams and gave up 95 points. They did, however, beat Boerne Champion 41-0 which shows to me you can’t take them lightly. I would have thought that game would be close. Obviously, no one can predict turnovers but Crosby has done an excellent job in the playoffs of holding onto the ball. Yes, they are going to have to study for the slot-T test this week, but this Friday on Final exam day, Crosby is going to bring athletes that are better than Rio Grande and I just think Crosby will win this game. My two cents.

I’ll say Liberty Hill will be playing there heart out for there Head Coach that past away last month. I think it will be a hard fought game and Crosby should win the 2nd half

Well, it would’ve taken a shootout to beat Manvel earlier this year but unfortunately Crosby was still cleaning their gun. Our shootout with Montgomery was due to their passing game which is why I didn’t want to play Pioneer. I’m not really getting the shootout feeing here though. I think Crosby is going to get some stops and put LH into an unfamiliar position the same way we’ve done the last three weeks with our other state ranked opponents. I’ve never seen this level of defense consistently played by a Crosby squad, that includes the ‘14 and ‘15 teams too.
