  1. I respect your views, especially since you have a school-aged child. Sounds like you’ve got a good kid on your hands. I love hearing about good kids. Seems as though we tend to concentrate on the bad stuff too often. My son, an incoming senior, he is more important to me than life itself, as I’m sure your boy is to you too. He was in a near fatal accident last year, almost 2 weeks before first football practice. It was a year and 8 days ago, as a matter of fact. I can still barely talk about it in front of people because my eyes start stinging, and I know the tears are right behind. After a torn PCL, head full of stitches, “new” used truck and a lot of prayer and thanks to God, I have to tell him he probably won’t get to play football at all that year. I’ve never seen him cry like he did that day. With tears streaming down his face, he grabbed me by the arm and literally pulled me outside. Both eyes black and swollen, bandage around his head, knee brace on and limping, he starts running 15 yard sprints out of a 3 point stance. He would stop, turn around, get in a stance, say “hit” and sprint off the “line” again. He’s shouting at me as if I can’t see him, “See Dad, I can play. I can run. “Hit” off he goes again. He’s streaming tears and running and yelling at me all at the same time. He falls after 5 or 6 sprints from the knee injury. I picked him up and hugged him and told him to come inside. We made a decision to forgo surgery until at least after the season, and he missed all the scrimmages and most of the non-district games, but he actually played every district and playoff game. He had a decent season. And he’s got one more left. Ain’t no way I’m gonna tell my baby boy he can’t play after that. He is healthy and I feel like Covid is the least of his worries. Every morning when he leaves for work or summer workouts, the app on my phone tells me he’s just left the house. It scares the living she-it out of me. Especially since his wreck. But I still let him drive. I still let him live. And I’m not trying to sway you or anyone else into doing anything differently. I just had to explain that life is a risk. We take them every day...much bigger ones than dealing with this virus that most healthy people endure. I hope the very best for your son. I hope his senior year has all this silly crap in the rear view mirror. And I pray for everyone’s health.

  2. What about the teachers and coaches? Or the kids Grandparents? Kids might not get sick but they can carry it.

  6. Many (if not most) fire departments stage when they get medical calls and will not go in until the police make sure it is safe. Perhaps the police should return the favor to the second responders.

  7. May he share a cell with “Big Russ”. If that was my kid, he would not have made it to jail. POS.

  8. And I don't disagree, I just think there needs to be a better plan. Everyone goes in there all half-cocked and they're going to pull the plug before the season and school year gets a chance.

It’s still pretty unsafe as I’m sure @tvc184 and others would agree that shooting in the air at a moving target in a neighborhood is probably pretty unsafe. And when the crippled drone lands in the windshield of a moving car or up in MawMaw’s head while she’s walking her lap dog in the yard, your actions may surpass the goal you’re intending.

  10. It goes deeper than that as he as well as myself knows people , friends, and a family member that’s died from Covid-19. Ive even had a classmate gain his wings. IMO, this is nothing to take lightly. People are taking this lightly because our leadership.... well, never mind. This is not the political forum so....

    Drones

Realizing that we all have our own opinions on what should be a crime and how much penalty it should carry, often when I see the term “ridiculous laws” I feel like that in most occasion the person really does not know what he/she is talking about. It is typically something that they “heard”....

  16. No trouble. Silsbee opted to push back start date for students to allow their teachers to get better prepared for this school year (online and in person learning). Silsbee will add 20 minutes to each school day to make up for the later start without having to go extra days in June. Teachers still report for work on August 5 and will use the extra days to get their classrooms (actual and virtual) prepared for this unusual school year. School hours will now be 7:45am to 3:40pm.

    10-4A-1 Who wins it.

Amen and Amen! If Vidor stays healthy at the offensive back position ( Quarterback, Halfback, Tailback and Fullback) and the defense picks up where it left off last year then I see them at the 1 or 2 spot in district. Go Pirates!

  21. Lost in all of the hoopla was the fact that it was a very sad day as two longtime coaches passed away. Andrew Washington, former Central head coach and longtime assistant at Beaumont-Charlton-Pollard, Central and most recently at Kelly, passed away on Monday. [Hidden Content] Also, Del Basinger, long time coach and most recently an assistant at West Orange-Stark before his retirement in 2018, passed away on Tuesday morning. [Hidden Content] Both gentlemen will be missed.

  22. Naw Nick, I understand all the machinations involved with why things aren't going to happen, my comment was more of a rhetorical (salty) based opinion regarding the overall conditions of current times. Have appreciated your coverage, hope you actually get to go to a gym this season. That's it for me, got to get back to hermetically sealed bunker.
