Agree!... When I was in school mid-90s we had summer workouts (lifting and conditioning) and we worked. Luckily, I worked for the school during the summers and was able to get off for a couple hours to make summer workouts. During those couple of hours there was no running of plays, no talk about schemes, or anything else related to football. The only thing football related was "hey let's meet at the field and throw the ball a bit" and to say kids are out in the heat more than kids back in the 90s, 80s, 70s, etc... is crazy talk lol3 points -
Should have burned down the WalMart instead. No one would have said a thing about it.2 points

Preface: I live a stone's throw from Liberty Hill these days and spend a lot of time there. The day PN-G and Liberty Hill played last season, I threw on my PN-G gear and stopped at the Liberty Hill Dairy Queen for lunch before hitting the road to Katy. I respect everything the Panther program has accomplished. By no means should this post be construed as me downplaying their success. It's asinine to reduce PN-G to "a good story" and suggest the Indians haven't shown longevity comparable to Liberty Hill's when, over the last ten seasons, the Indians have won 71% of their games, finished four seasons with ten or more wins and finished the season in the third round of the playoffs or higher five times. Keep in mind that one of those ten win seasons occurred despite a game cancellation caused by Hurricane Harvey. Granted, Liberty Hill sports a better playoff record and a higher win percentage (79%) over the same time period. Liberty Hill was also 4ADI for seven of those ten seasons; didn't contend with three hurricanes, record-shattering rainfall from a fourth tropical cyclone, undue humiliation wrought by undeserved national media hysteria and a major industrial explosion during that period; and plays in a generally weaker region than PN-G. Liberty Hill is also a fast-growing and much more affluent community than anywhere in Southeast Texas, and has been showering its school district with extravagant resources for well over a decade. A recent former Liberty Hill school board member told me last year that roughly half of LHISD students today have out-of-state birth certificates. If we're going to bring longevity into the argument, let's account for the wildly disparate levels of adversity. There's more to this game than the surface-level numbers. Put the two teams on the same football field and I'll take the purple and white over the purple and gold any damn day of the week.2 points -

Crosby may have been "capable". However, LH beat the breaks off Crosby. Maybe LH could have used their 2 best players (RBs on a "running" team) against PNG last year?1 point

Like I've said previously I feel like we have to score double digit runs per game to win, if it's a close game I don't trust em. I understand what Bouchy said the other day about liking the close games cause you'll have them in the playoffs, but I rather them not be in that position in games if at all possible.1 point -

That in bold makes me cringe every game.1 point -
LH couldn’t stop PNG and it was because of the O line advantage over much smaller players. PNG COULD stop LH because they were extremely well prepared for the one dimensional offense. Crosby couldn’t prepare properly for it. PNG did. i feel like I’m repeating myself at this point. the coaching staff prepared them better than anyone had before and it showed. They couldn’t move the ball like they were used to doing.1 point

I think Vidor beat Crosby a couple of years ago. Maybe they just weren't ready for that style of offense. That Crosby team was stout. I have to believe they were capable of playing with LH.1 point -

Yep, more dominant in baseball than football. Almost laughable. It's as though SEC baseball says we kick butt even better than you kick butt.1 point -
The offense should be a lot better. Eagles return 7 or 8 on offense I believe. Defense loses the top guys from all 3 levels of the defense but still returns like 6 starters. Main guy to look out for on defense is Savon Bolden. I think he could possibly be a future D1 OLB/safety.1 point

No argument here about SEC baseball being the gold standard and I would agree with you (at least I think you would agree) that the SEC has been more dominant in baseball than football. Just stating when you add arguably the bluest blood in the country in baseball, the rich get even richer.1 point -

Once again, I respectfully disagree. It's not concentrated football workouts including running plays rather than conditioning. The conditioning is good, but it's still not as good as honing in on a football environment. That's the opinion of a few head and assistant coaches...not just mine.1 point -
I think you're being too kind with the "generally weaker region" comment. That is a much bigger factor when comparing the success of these programs imo.1 point

I've never considered Liberty Hill a defensive juggernaut.....they've been successful because their offense has been borderline unstoppable for a good part of the past 15-20 years1 point -
My main point on the game is PNG knows exactly how to stop that one dimensional offense. They knew what to expect and only allowed them to bust it a few times. the result would be the same if they are lucky enough to meet again. Long way to go.1 point

So 15 of the last 16 seasons an SEC school has played for the Natty and 4 of those times both schools were SEC. Like I stated, it's already a common occurrence without tu. But the additions will enhance it.1 point -

When you have men's volleyball and field water polo teams you have an advantage before you even start competing for top overall program. Stanford has around 10 programs more than Texas. The fact Texas has won the Directors Cup is impressive.1 point -

SOC lost a lot especially on defense...Melissa brings back a lot (9 and 6) they are growing like crazy so they have depth and a couple of out of state move-ins that will contribute and they went toe to toe with SOC in a very physical game in the 4th round last year..it was 16-16 going into the 4th Qtr....SOC scored to take a seven point lead..Melissa drove down got in the red zone and turned it over on downs and then SOC put the dagger in with a minute left....its not far feteched at all to have Melissa over SOC IMO1 point -

But to give the Cardinal their due, they are the only school in the country that consistently has a better overall athletics department than Texas. So there is that. (Although recently Texas has gotten the best of them.1 point -

I missed the national titles on Stanford. You did say last 40. There are a few programs that compare over the last 40. Texas very well may be the best ever, but last 40 years removes 3 titles.1 point -

We are talking about what happened last year and how they should be ranked this year. As for as the game last year, I've stated before that the way PNG's defense was playing, it would not have mattered if they had those 2 RB's playing or anyone else for that matter. PNG also beat Austin LBJ and Marshal which they should not have beaten. Against LBJ, Marshal and LH, it was better coaching that got PNG past those games.1 point

Vaccination Food For Thought
Reagan reacted to LumRaiderFan for a topic
Everyone should read RFK jr’s book, the real Anthony Fauchi. Covid was bad, no doubt, but we were lied to about the efficacy and side effects of the vaccine, all for financial gain for the pharmaceutical companies. He also caused unmeasurable damage by insisting that the country stay locked down. He has been giving horrible advice as early as the AIDS crisis. The vaccine industry is a racket that rewards shady methods and he has been in the middle of it. Hopefully, the folks in this country won’t put up with this tyrannical behavior in the future, but we have a lot of sheep that have shown their complete trust in government and want to be led. I still see folks with masks on, smh.1 point -

I’m sure living rent free in your head. Literally haven’t opened this thread in months, do so today and find my name in your mouth on your most recent post. Remember that time I tried to have a discussion with you about vaccines and you kept quoting Stella Immanuel? You know, the doc who believes in aliens and demon sperm? It’s impossible to even have a reasonable discussion with anyone who believes literally anything that anyone says as long as it jives with what they’re trying to push. I’m happy to talk to you about any other subject, but it’s a waste of time on this. Literally any person can say anything, and as long as it’s negative towards the vaccine you’re going to take a nice long sip of it and then post it on here, especially if it comes from the most factual site on the planet, Twitter.1 point -
