A former employee of the district, that thinks they can do a better job than Coach Prieto, has the ear of the Supt. and stirred up some of the town people. Coach Prieto was tired of hearing all the BS from people looking into the fish bowl, but with no actual skin on the game, and had enough. This is a classic small town screw job by people that don't have a clue. I had become a Crosby from a far, now I hope they get what they deserve every Friday night! Good Luck to Coach Prieto, he'll be just fine!!!

Events on Fridays will occur with: 1. less stress on coaches 2. coaches that had sleep the night before. 3. coaches who can focus on football and not lessons or drama in the classroom

If a kid can't show up for a game then in my opinion they shouldn't have been on the team to begin with.

Most coaches like sleep Thursday night/Friday morning combined with not having to deal with the classroom on game day. Kids will show for the game. Would be different showing for practice. I know many coaches who are doing the 4-day week at various districts. Not a single one of them has said they had a problem getting kids to show up on game day.

There would be concern getting those kids to the school on Friday for the games. Most coaches like the fact that the kids are at school already that day.

Nuggets are awesome. Chicken sammich not so much. I take the chicken breast and totally cover it in the Polynesian sauce or sweet sriracha sauce, and it’s pretty good that way, then put it back in the bun. 😋

So we're comparing Johnson to Joubert now? It's a bit silly to even acknowledge your comment but I'll give it a go. At no point during Coach Joubert's career has he went 6-51 over the course of 2 seasons. Never had a winless season either. Like I have said, I hope Coach Johnson does great at Buna, and proves any naysayers wrong, but I have my doubts.

I understand perfectly. You don’t like the game so you demonize the players that are actually playing by the rules, just like I would and so would you. The democrats love it, it’s class warfare showing itself to be successful but don’t worry, there are millions that’s fall for the same line that our financial woes are because the rich guys aren’t paying their fair share. Guess what, we don’t have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem and you could tax the rich at 100% and it wouldn’t solve a thing, absolutely nothing. Like BSW said, change the tax code if you can, but don’t blame the guys playing by the rules, who wouldn’t? The money is always more effective when left in the private sector rather than put in the government slush fund.

Here in Jasper we had the fortune a few years ago to have one of those "special" group of young ladies. 4 consecutive trips to the State Tournament. Good times! You are right about it taking a while to get back once those players are gone.

@TxHoops obviously your a huge fan of Coach Johnson and hopefully you are right. But honestly his 6-51 experience with his second year not showing any improvement from the first year, how do you get a head coaching job. You figure he would be committed to righting the ship at Chilton or maybe getting an assistant job to figure out what is not working. Connell does not have experience yet but there is only one way for him to get it and whoever gives him that first chance will not be disappointed. Orange field boys job is now open which is in our district, its hard for me to believe that he would get an interview with a 6-51 record. Like it or not part of coaching is winning. Don't get me wrong our program has not been head and shoulders above everyone else but we have consistently put a competitive team together that makes the playoffs. But there is nothing wrong with us wanting a young man that is from here and has given his heart and soul to this town. What's wrong with our own kids graduating going off, playing college ball, coming home and taking over the program they are from. It happens all the time in the college ranks, some high school but for some reason here in Buna we don't hire our own unless they are from a select group of families. Lastly and I am moving on, I hope Coach Johnson does a great job and we're going to show him support.

UPDATE: Orangefield softball has changed their playoff series with Central Heights to a one game playoff. Saturday in Jasper at 7pm.
