  1. Wow... a couple things stand out on this list, and I saw every team in the district when they came to winnie. No superlatives for East Chambers is ridiculous Green not being on first team is ridiculous. Keep in mind We were ranked in the top 15 a good portion of the year. Orangefield only having only 1 guy on 1st team is a joke, Either their coach is the new phil jackson or coaches openly chose to not to vote for EC or Orangefield guys. How is Orangefield even ranked by the looks of this list. Buna having 3 first teamers is absurd, they squeaked into the playoffs in and barely were 500. Soapbox over,

Next time I go to a kountze game I’ll be looking for that tied for 4th play in game banner hanging in the gym 😂

  3. Houston ISD is growing very tired of losing to a little podunk town of Silsbee so they have put a lot of eggs in their basket to solve that problem.

  4. I got no problems with this list. Personally, Perrault would have been my MVP and Scales my Newcomer.

  5. I’m going to go ahead and ask it but does anyone else think Davis is the most underrated coach in SETX? I understand we are blessed to have 4 absolute legends who are locks to be Hall of Famers. And then you have guys like Foster and English who are as good as it gets too. But Clay’s teams win 25-30 games a year consistently. And I seem to see more criticism than praise for him on here. In a region incredibly blessed in terms of HS basketball coaches, he deserves to be in the conversation of the great coaches here.

  7. I like that we argue sells had nobody so that’s why they didn’t make playoffs but then turn around and argue courts was good enough to when new comer. I’m just trying to figure this thing out I guess

  8. Bottom line, Silsbee kids are just tougher minded and have that will to win that showed in their games vs. Furr and Washington last year. Both those teams showed frustration even when they were ahead of Silsbee. Silsbee kids just don't get rattled. I also think Silsbee is way better in the coaching department than Furr and Washington. Big reason why I have Silsbee winning the region.

  10. I've predicted the spreads within a point or two for the first three games. I figured all three Silsbee opponents would play their best game of the season against the Tigers and that's exactly what happened. If you watch the Jacksonville YouTube you'll hear their play by play guys say it right out loud, this game was the best Jacksonville played all year. And we saw for ourselves last night with HJ. It was touch and go against a team Silsbee beat by 21 earlier and who barely got past Chapel Hill. And Liberty? That had to be the best game they played all year, or maybe in several years. And I expect that Furr, like the others, is going to play their best game of the season against Silsbee. Furr will not have a letdown. They will play better than they did in either game against Washington. I feel this is so because they are a very consistent team. Early in the district season they beat Washington by 1 and late in the district season they lost to Washington by 1 in overtime. So far in the playoffs they've won by 37, 31 and 25. As the competition got a little better the spread dropped by exactly 6 points each time. The Tigers on the other hand, have been demonstrating some inconsistency. They play great one moment and sputter the next. Of course their sputtering is better than some teams best. It's like Tigers95 said, if the Tigers win it will be ugly. My heart doesn't like it but my head says Furr by 5. All that said the mathematics favors Washington to win the region. This is true simply because their semi opponent Center, though a good team, is second tier. For all intents and purposes Washington is already there. Silsbee and Furr have to go through each other to get there. Washington needs to avoid a letdown on Friday and play a great game on Saturday. Silsbee and Furr have to play 2 great games.

  11. Remember it’s an individual award. So he goes from one of top 3 during season , to now he’s not because of no playoffs . He is still in top 3 . And yes, in playoffs is what he would have wanted.

Take sells away and they aren’t finishing tied for 4th I can promise you that…

  13. To me it can’t be done. You take sells off kountze and they are in no different place when the playoffs come. At home watching like us. You take pete or parrualt off ec or orangefield and things are completely different. To give it to a non playoff team is a disservice to the award. This is not an award to say who the best player in the district in one on one is to me. Maybe I’m wrong

  14. Look these things are a train wreck these days more often than not. But Perrault has the biggest gripe of anyone. Which in itself is shocking. The Kountze kid over Scales is pretty laughable too. The real question is who all does Joub have compromising pictures of??

    No Surprise Here

I don’t watch Fox News and I haven’t made any comments about stolen elections. What is sad if that you think it matters. I notice that you didn’t address what I said. Do you think that people really vote by what a media executive thinks or says? I realize that people in forums try to light a fire just to see if someone will respond by throwing gasoline on the flames but you are delusional if you think someone is going to change who he/she supports because of a media owner. Like, “Gee, I was completely against gun control but if a guy named Rupert Murdoch lied, I am turning all of my guns in!”. Yeah….. people are going to change their beliefs because of a guy they probably never even heard of made a comment.

  18. I’ve paid close attention to basketball for several years and I made no mention of front court player requirements. I did however state a fact that the player in mention (Aletan) is limited offensively. In addition I corrected your comment of him being signed to Yale. He has power 5 offers. You would know this if you click on the link. Reading is fundamental my man

  26. I think you guys are severely underestimating Lake Highlands, here’s a few things to note: For starters basketball in the DFW is 10x better than in the Houston/SETX area. With that being said LH has played much stiffer competition than BU in the regular season & in the playoffs up until this point. Plano East finished the season ranked #11 & Arlington Martin finished the season ranked #5. Having watched both games neither team is a slouch. Compare these teams to region 3 (which is really weak this year) & you'll understand the disparity in the playoff game scores between LH & BU. Let’s put some context around the LH/Arlington Martin game shall we, this same Arlington Martin team put LH out the playoffs last year. Martin came out & executed a great game plan (one I think BU needs to steal) by running the 4 corners/stall ball offense the entire game which forced the 6’8 kid to come out & guard one of their better players and they abused that match up all game essentially forcing the coach to take him out the game. This strategy helped reduce the height advantage LH had on AM and shorten the game with them only having 5 varsity players. Brilliant coaching & game plan by AM’s staff, which ultimately gave them the best chance to win in-which they almost did. Also Martin is probably more talented than any team BU will face in Region 3 (they have a 4 star guard going to UH). Now let’s talk about how BU matches up with LH: LH has what BU hasn’t seen on its 3 year run & that’s a legit PRO! Tra Johnson is the #1 player in his class and will be a one and done college player. Kid is supremely skilled and can fill it up efficiently at all three levels. Couple that with a 6’8 big who's signed to Yale and wrecks havoc down low! He’s a force in the paint rebounding, blocking shots, catching lobs etc. LH definitely has the advantage in the size department. Also LH have some really good role players surrounding these two which makes them a very formidable opponent. I think BU has the advantage when it comes to defense, physicality & athleticism. Also you can limit Johnson if you get physical with him, I’ve seen him struggle with players that are physical with him because he isn’t very strong. But idk if this is a team BU should try to get up and down with simply because Johnson is just too dynamic for that, although slowing the game down isn’t really in Green’s nature I believe it gives BU the best chance to 3 peat if they see LH.

  27. I'm hoping it works much better at state tourney. My wife watched a few games last year on the TV app and she said it worked fine.

  28. This is why Silsbee and other SETX teams such as United and Memorial have had such great success against Houston teams that are arguably more talented. It is also why Houston teams struggle, in general, against teams from the metroplex. I’ve watched arguments on here for years about facilities, etc. But as has always been the case in sports, very often it comes down to the toughest kids win. Mentally, physically, whatever. And Silsbee will be the toughest team at that regional.

They were tied for 4th. And lost in the playin. And Kountze was the only team that beat EC in district, on a Sells shot. Most on here agree Sells was in the top 3 best players. Coaches must have agreed.

  44. Jackson is probably the best shooter on the team outside of Harris. Bottley can be either hot or cold. He'll either make five or six a game, or miss almost every one he takes. But yeah, Silsbee ain't a great shooting team overall.

    Vidor is open !!

Are you saying that if Vidor had excellent players, then the coaching wouldn't matter? If so, that would mean that the success of Vidor (or lack thereof) has little or nothing to do with Jeff or Alvin, rather than the lower level of athletes in Vidor...

    Png 2023 ??

Surely you jest. I have it on good authority that there are coaches capable of winning a state championship in any school within 7 years.... regardless of their players' athletic ability. They call this seemingly mythical group of men "Elite". I know it may sound silly.. but it's true. You sound like one of those kid blamers. (Disclaimer: This only exists in the sport of football)
