I’ve seen Pirate teams in the past fold when confronted with the turnovers & easy scores Silsbee got last night, but this bunch kept their heads up and came back for the win. Does the win mean a big season? Not at all. All it means is these kids have character. Win or lose, it indicates they’ll give their all. That’s all anyone can ask or expect.

Playing up 2 divisions vs a good playoff team is exactly what need to prepare for district and beyond. Ned always gives us 100%. Fusilier has grown up since the last time I saw him in person. He will continue to do great things this season and I truly hope he gets the recognition and offers he deserves. Mustangs were lost last night. Defense failed to contain Nederlands best player. But showed slight improvement in some areas. I dont believe they were prepared well enough. I'm still waiting on an answer... "Who was running the show last night?" I actually saw arguing between 2 coaches during a TO, that led to a another delay of game penalty. Those coaches should be running stands today. Without a clear leader of staff and team, this was an embarrassment. One of the old school guys in the stands, I know he reads this. Always down on T, blaming T for every mistake. Last night he may have realized how important the man is to the program.

I think you’re right about those missing kids, lots of huge holes out there tonight that you’re just not gonna fill with quality athletes at a 2A-II school. Somerville definitely didn’t look like a 3-6 team from last season. SV still wins handily with those kids in uniform but it’s definitely more competitive. Now on top of those kids being out don’t forget Junior Landon Victorian moving to Louisiana last minute (HD leading rusher as a freshman in 2019) and HD’s do it all Junior scat back/DB Devante Broussard who also moved to Goose Creek Memorial over the summer. Along with Jeremiah and Sellers, that’s 4 key defensive starters out and 4/5 of your playmakers on offense who were expected to be out there (other than Dawson Victorian). On the same note note,congrats to Devante for a heck of a 5A debut for the Patriots against Klein Forrest leading GCM on offense with 11 receptions for 114 yards. That kid is hard to replace and he’s proving it at higher level competition.

Well those unathletic kids that run a boring, time consuming offense came from behind all night to WIN 51-48!

My understanding is # 22 for the Dogs was supposed to be the go to in the run game.. He played a couple series early and never saw him again. # 9 I believe came in and ran the ball north and south. He looks to want it more...IMO
