I have no problem with the offensive play calling. Very good game plan vs PN-G. My problem is The Indians came out of halftime with a new offensive game plan and we made no adjustments on defense. It all started with that zone read where Bost kept it (got about 10 yards a pop). That opened up those slant plays. Indians had maybe 60 yards of total offense in the first half and in the second half, I’m willing to bet they had almost 350 yards of offense. You cannot lose a game when you were up 26-0. But I did take some positives from this game. 1. BU’s Thomas is a gamer and will be a force in this district. 2. The young Safety Porchia did really well in getting his hands out to deflect passes. 3. Teams won’t be picking on #2 Rivers 4. Our young o-line held their own all night. 5. PN-G’s Bost is the truth. 6. PNG’s defensive issues is NOT a players issue. Take that however you want to take it. 7. On Texan Live, I don’t know who I hate the most out of the Camera Man or the audio guy.

My son was out there getting his butt whipped by a 6’ 8” 336 O lineman, and all I could think about was how impressed I was with their whole system. They beat HJ in Fannett with HJ’s best player on the sidelines with a boot on his foot. I’ve watched a lot of basketball over the Last 60+ years so I’d like to think I’m somewhat informed. HF is definitely better than they have been in several years but that doesn’t change the fact that they did finish 4th in the district. I just ain’t convinced we should have them cutting down the nets just yet.

Newton had not practiced due to the storm and one coach testing positive for covid. . Elect.was out while other teams were up and practicing. Newton is young ,12 sophomore and1 fresh. On var. The next 3 or 4years looks very good for Newton with speed to burn coming up from the JV. you better get Newton this year for we will be a tough out the next several years.

I’d say talent IS a big factor. It takes special talent for deep playoff runs, which we’re probably a little short on, but I believe there is plenty there to be competitive. I realize I’m in the minority there, but even teams with a downturn in talent can execute and compete. I don’t have the answer for why that hasn’t happened. I just don’t believe “illegals” are the root of it.
