PNG Hire

Everyone seems to be half glass empty on this hire. I think it might be a home run. He has a hell of a tree of communication. He has been around winning cultures. He is a phone call away for advice from several legit SC winning coaches. He is defensive minded, young, and bringing in a good OC. He came highly recommended, and due to the fact he was out of coaching a few years, was available. Versus what could have been, I think they possibly made a great choice. Time will tell, but i am not sure why all the unrest with all the rah rahs. Jump on board with this guy and you might all be surprised…….. What people seem to forget, is with RJ, if we would have had a defense, and not all loaded up on offense, we could have made a run. For all the BF lovers, all we heard was MB only made a run because of Dustin Long… Well he made that run when BF couldn’t with RJ…Are we SC contenders… nope…. But this could be a good hire. New blood, comes from winning cultures, and will get great advice from people in the know of TX HS Football. Maybe another Danny Malone here. BF is gone, let’s move forward.

This was the best possible outcome for us, and I am very optimistic about PN-G's future. Let the fans of Nederland, Memorial, WO-S and so on say what they want about it. I think this will prove to be an outstanding selection in the future.

And don't be surprised if you see a Dodge hanging around in Mid-County at some point next fall. 😎

Dustin Long helped but the reason why that 99 team was good was because of the defense

Great post. Great job by all who were involved in this process. I pledge 100% of my support to the new program.

We didn’t have to layoff half our staff and football coach quit because of cut backs like Crosby did. Just saying. Heard around 20k for a year.

Ha, Crosby is in much better shape on Friday nights than PNG.  They are getting back on track after building things a little too fast.  They also did okay with the Football Coach that wanted to be there playing for a State Championship and in the Semi finals in consecutive years while embarrassing your Injuns! Tell me where I’m wrong!

99 is saving Crosby with development.

I pray the new Head Coach is treated with respect & given the opportunity to prove himself in the position.

I have supported this program for all my 57 years, and will continue to be a PNG Indian, as long as I live!!!

I am so glad we went out & got a coach to build on a  winning tradition.  After all the most important thing is that :

WE ARE THE PNG INDIANS!!!

I do not agree with how Coach Faircloth was treated..

I think the glass half empty has a lot to do with this statement. The way this whole thing went down is just bad.. Its going to take a while for the community to get the taste out of their mouths.. Also the way the panel was set up does not inspire faith as well.. This was a superintendent/board move no doubt. It was well known when he hired TD that someone he know was going to get the job... the panel "narrowed it down to 2" then he got to decide who he wanted to present... I have a hard time believing someone that is a younger coach with no AD/HC experience interviewed better than some of the other applicants.. A HARD TIME... It will be VERY interesting to see the applicants list when released...

I still believe he will do well.. he has no choice.. ITS PNG!!

Crosby is one investigation away from another "walkout".... wins don't fix books 🧐

So, how many state championships does Crosby have?

Did you have that same feeling in ‘09 when BF got the job over other HC/AD experienced candidates?

    • Maybe.. however..  Many athletic director / head football coach have lost their job despite the athletic program as a whole being successful.. if the football team struggles.  On the other hand, when football teams are doing great but the rest of the program stinks.. AD/HFC still keeps their job. WOS.  Newton. .. programs as a whole were fairly weak during those many years of football power and very few people even knew it.  Or cared. Yet, AD/HFC kept their jobs for years. Meanwhile, I remember an AD/HFC at Barbers Hill lost his job after every program in the school won district championships and even had several team sports (baseball, softball, girls hoops, etc.) making runs at state.  But the football team was mediocre.  Fired. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that perception is reality.  And the perception is that your athletic program can suck as long as football wins.. it doesn't matter how strong the athletic program is if football sucks.

    • Baseball mafia can cry all they want but when the talent isn’t there it ain’t there lol
    • It's only a matter of time before the baseball mafia starts greasing the tracks to run Crumedy out of town. It'll be a dang shame too, but mark my words.
    • Conditioning should be done by the coach that they are IN SEASON with. This is a simple concept that's missed by so many. Way too many kids are overworked these days. I don't really care what was done 20, 30 or 40 years ago. We know more now and should do better. And maybe kids were more durable in the past, but they also had a great foundation of manual labor, etc. And lifting... done right, should be done all year round. Dayton's S&C coordinator is top notch when it comes to putting this together.
