  1. Crosby is adding 20 min each day, starting a week early (7th), taking away small breaks(except labor day, MLK, and good friday), still getting basic week breaks(Thanksgiving, 2 weeks Christmas, Spring Break), going to 5 day weeks during month of April, and ending on May 30. 2. I know exactly what you are saying. I probably know the reason why your AD did not like that idea.. .Some AD's only have their sport agenda to focus on and not the individual sport's best interest. common opponents in district is hard to pass. There are more lower teams that want a chance to compete with their one dude. Then they get their a$$ whipped in the playoffs in a 3 game series.. The things I'm proposing is take that power away from District committees. UIL Should mandate common opponents in district.. like they just did with mandating 3 game series in postseason. Things will never change until enough voiced opinions are heard in UIL. That is what just happened with this mandatory 3 game series. Enough voices were finally heard. Now let's keep pushing to make it better.
  3. Districts committee determine whether you play a alternating schedule or common opponents. I struggle with the concept that most districts alternate opponents. It allows for strength of district SCHEDULE to play a factor. Teams can rotate a #1 pitcher to play the most competitive teams twice. The better TEAM will be determined if they did common opponents. In playoffs you can have a 3 game with common opponents. I would hope that districts would understand this, go to a 3 game series with common opponents. Now to do this UIL has to allow more games. But to say that teams cant perform in a 3 game a week, when they do that during tournament play (4-6 games a week) blows my mind.
  4. that is exactly what I stated. that is not a rule with post season UIL rules. Post season reverts back to tournament rules. You can play playoff games on Tuesday/ Thursday.. Now to go to 3 game series in district is OK right now.. Just hast to be game 1 (Mon-Thursday) Game 2 & 3 played on Friday or Sat.. Some districts are already doing this.
  5. that is not a rule with post season UIL rules. To make this mandatory UIL will have to increase the amount of games allowed or only allow 1-2 tournaments a season.
  6. True:. But think of this… they play in tournaments at the start of the season that have 4-5 games in just the tournament.. and most usually play a game on that Tuesday of the same week… that is 5-6 games a week.. why can they do that at beginning of year and not playoffs? I also think all districts should do common opponent per week and play a 3 game series.. prevents teams from rotating a #1 to strength of schedule.
  7. This is really not a issue in 5A/6A. Most of these bigger schools already play a series in playoffs. Its the 4A's and lower that will flip for a 1 gamer and ride 1 stud pitcher in playoffs. Personally, I would love to see a tournament style playoff system like college. This would cut the amount of postseason weeks down and let the better team advance in all levels. Now 1A/2A may have a problem due to size of school and players coming out but the rest should be fine. Yes that could make a team play 5 games but that will show the best TEAM! EX. Week 1 - Bi-district - 3 game series Week 2 - Area/regional Q-final - double elimination tournament Week 3 - Reg simi/ Reg Final - Double elimination tournament Week 4 - State simi/Final - Double elimination tournament
  8. So happy for Wiggins. He will do great things there. The Head Baseball Coach for Crosby has been hired for a couple of weeks.
  9. Coach Carter going for win 600 tonight
  10. I don't see this job posted on THSCA or HJ ISD site. How are they interviewing already?
  11. in Jr. High in Lumberton back in 87 we had a coach suit out and play against us in practice. He was 6'4'' and built. One kid on the A team lit a B team kid up on kick off... the coach ran across the field at full speed.. just when the kid turned around he lit him up.. both feet off the ground and slammed him on the ground and started barking at him about taking cheap shots... could you imagine the law suites today and media exposure??
  12. If someone wants to spread false information then whatever... it happens everyday.. but if illegal private information is spread by administration then that is a big problem and should be handled accordingly. Just the way I feel... People who hold these positions should be held accountable just like everyone else. This has really nothing to do with BF.. this is about right and wrong
  13. Wrong sir.. I am not making assumptions.... YOU SAID "Did you know BF was put on a growth plan due to his consistent bypassing of admin and doing things how he wanted and not how it was supposed to be done?".... Either your: Telling Private information that only Admin/board and BF would know.. leaking private information cause your Admin/board... or spreading false information... PERIOD!! .. if this is true then there is MAJOR FAULTS HERE!! You have started a fire here.. that could lead to a district law suits and people losing their jobs!!
  14. don't crawfish.. you stated he was on a growth plan.. that is PRIVATE information and not public info IF IT IS TRUE! The only ones that would know that information is Administration/board.. the only way, if true, that you would know that info is if YOU are the source... which is against TEA guidelines to spread private info.. or someone is Administration/board told someone... which is against TEA guidelines to spread private info... or you just made this up.. there are grievances for a reason!! Do you not see the big problem here?? You just brought up a whole new element, Superintendent should lose his job... IF TRUE!
  15. WOW!! if what you are saying IS TRUE then 2 things: by putting PRIVATE INFORAMTION on a public site PROVES your either a UNETHICAL administrator/board member THAT DOES NOT NEED TO BE PUTTING INFORAMTION ON A PUBLIC SITE or was told by a UNETHICAL administrator/board member.. Either way you have now given BF grounds to sue for GRIEVABLE ISSUES UNDER ASSOCIATION OF TEXAS PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS.. THIS PROVES THE PROBLEM WITH PNG!! As for one of the "favorites"... he was in the top 2 so he was considered.
  16. I will say this about Crosby.. It had its problems with overspending with a Superintendent that had repercussions but now is back STRONG.. Some of the best Athletic facilities in the state, New School and pays very well... Almost 20%/10K MORE a year in teaching salaries than PNG.. PNG is falling behind in these areas..
  17. I think the glass half empty has a lot to do with this statement. The way this whole thing went down is just bad.. Its going to take a while for the community to get the taste out of their mouths.. Also the way the panel was set up does not inspire faith as well.. This was a superintendent/board move no doubt. It was well known when he hired TD that someone he know was going to get the job... the panel "narrowed it down to 2" then he got to decide who he wanted to present... I have a hard time believing someone that is a younger coach with no AD/HC experience interviewed better than some of the other applicants.. A HARD TIME... It will be VERY interesting to see the applicants list when released... I still believe he will do well.. he has no choice.. ITS PNG!!
  18. I was thinking the same. If these were the two finalist.. I would have a hard time picking a person with no AD/HC experience/who got out of coaching/was a DC for a short time/and a position coach currently over the long list of Flanagan's accomplishments.... WOW.... But it is what it is.... again its all about who you know... Congratulations Coach Joseph and good luck to the Indians!!
  19. here is what I have seen from my kids that committed to just D1's that were LHP in the last 6 years: LHP to Baylor - 86 Velo LHP to Texas Tech - 85 Velo LHP to Sam Houston - 81 Velo LHP to Lamar - 88 Velo with no command Was told by many of college coaches that RHP bottom was 88 but LHP are a different. However when you have a gun on their own pitching staff at practice/interaquad 85-87 was the average by most of the pitching staff. Seen this with my own eyes a couple of times. I was sitting next to the guy recording the velo for scrimmage. To me this is crazy.. I had a RHP that had tremendous command, had 4 pitches that he could spot anywhere and would dominate batters... hardly anyone got good wood on him.. watched him pitch a 68 pitch complete game in the Regional semi and dominate in 6.3 innings in a State Simi final. College D1 did not want cause he sat at 85-86 and topped out at 87... To me he was a real pitcher.. Don't make since to me.. But that is what they want. Also what these recruiting events are saying and what these college are recruiting are slightly different. As to your fielders velo vs pitching velo its simple.. fielders are based on a turn and burn.. pitchers velo from the bump.. you are able to throw harder on a turn and burn
  20. hear is the realization and then I'll stop. College ball is not what it is cracked up to be. D1 and down.. Workouts at 530am, day filled with school, 2pm meetings, practice till 730pm, and mandatory tutorials. Its a 530am-9pm a day job. No time for socializing and and enjoying the College experience... a player really has to enjoy the process to be happy. Hence why so many return after the 1st year. Here is the real truth that parents need to hear from ALL coaches.. high school-select(and be wary of anyone who is requiring money for services and tells you different..): College is only allowed 11.7 scholarships to give out to a 35-50 man roster. Most colleges will bring in 70+ (12 catchers) in the fall and let some go by start of spring.. Its a cut throat business.. Most kids, if they get any kind of athletic scholarship, are lucky to get 20%-30%. Very, very seldom does a player receive a full ride. If you are a parent or player and are spending all this money for travel ball, lessons, and exposure as a investment for school... then really just save that money and put into savings or investments for College costs... you will come out way ahead.. and your kid will be happier enjoying the college experience. If you are doing these and spending the money to: help you kid's skills to help him become a better player and teammate, for the kids enjoyment, better understanding of the game, to help him learn life lessons, family fun.. really anything other than the expectation that your child will receive a college athletic scholarship.. then by all means do it.. I would also stress the importance of GRADES to your child.. grades, class rank, SAT are EXTREEMLY important.. academic scholarships along with grants for low socioeconomic are the deciding factors in recruitment. Sorry, all this talk about baseball college recruitment has got me fired up.. so many do not understand the reality and there are many who take advantage of that situation and it is upsetting.
  21. Totally agree on numbers.. I would go a step further and say the velo numbers you quoted are for RHP.. LHP is a totally different beast. I would also say height and body frame play a role.
  22. I'm not TradenupBH but I can see why his post is directed towards you. I think it has to do with the concept you and longball24 are vocalizing. The concept that a Freshman is not D1/college material if he does not start on Varsity is a dangerous and destructive belief especially when you vocalize it. Parents and fans need to understand the process and realize statements like this is causing damage to kids. Kids and parents listen and will believe statements like this cause they have no first hand knowledge about the subject. I have seen kids completely devastated cause they did not make varsity and drag up. I have seen kids completely break down in a dugout and cry cause they were not successful at the Varsity level as a freshman. I have seen freshman kids refuse to go down to JV/Soph teams so they could get the experience and boost their self-confidence cause of this stigma.. They dont understand the skill/age difference (14 vs 18) and they would rather ride the bench.. I have seen the devastation these statements cause so I take it personally.. I think if more people understood the process and trusted it things would be better for the players and their families. Just a concept to think about
