1. The head baseball coach does teach a CORE subject and has been there since 2009
 2. The HJ job is tough for anyone to take. It does not pay very well, LOW BUDGET, the district will not improve facilities(you can see that by not having baseball lights.. still the laughing stock of the state), Jr. high in cubicles(FEMA will not give them any money until they raise the old high school up like 2 ft.. which will not happen), the people in the district will not pass a bond(they feel the money from last bond was squandered, things that were supposed to be done were not), new AD will not be able to run a 4A athletic program correctly without interference from other head coaching sports (this will not change, look at Admin., any other school in the state of Texas if the head of other sports have any problems with the way the AD is running things... they would be gone.. that is not going to happen at HJ. Until these things are fixed.. HJ will be nothing but a stepping stone and will get only coaches that will use it that way.
 3. Good list. From looking at the list, knowing the community very well and what I think Kirbyville needs...3 guys I know stand out and would make an immeadete and long term impact are (alpha order and last two stops)... Zach Bass(PNG OL, OC LaPorte) Brandon Craus(AD Groveton, OC Dayton) Grover Smith (Westbrook OL, OC Crosby) All 3 of these guys are very knowledgeable, have proven success, know the area, have a small town mentallity( which I think is very important for Kirbyville’s success) and are coaches the kids would respond to.
 4. True.. However here is what I heard.. The camera was not turned on until all players were done dressing and at practice.. And was turned off when they returned.. So it was only on when nobody was supposed to be in the locker room.. So no intent to video "naked minors"... Just a thief!! A report was filed about numerous theifts in their field house and BISD did not respond accordingly. They hire BPD to supply security however, as you have seen lately with the parking lot insadent, security is a problem. In fact there has been several reports of people coming on campus and threatening students. Complaints were made about BPD. Flanigan is a great man. Filed with integrity. He was only looking out for the interests of his players. Sad that it has come to this..
 5. Tyler Davenport of Crosby earned second-team honors and Christian Thames of Barbers Hill made the third-team squad after putting up big numbers during their senior campaigns.
Yes!  And I believe that Austin Homan was the 2012 Newcomer of the Year.
Homan and Hearn was a tie for Newcomer of the year... they both got the award
 7.
Wasnt Beasley defensive player of the year last year?
What is your point??... that was last year... Hearn did not play catcher last year as a freshman... Also Davenport was MVP last year... Does that mean he should have got it this year??? Davenport hit .456 this year in district and broke the strikeout record in the district with 104 K's (which was his from last year 89 K's).  And got 1st team pitcher this year.. Yea he was worthy of MVP again but did not get the votes.. No dought Thames had a better year..

Are the stats that close that you had to have two? These picks get crazier every year. Seems like it's losing the meaning that it use to have. I would think Beasley has the edge at catcher.
I could not find Beasley's stats but the Hearn kid is legit..New comer of the year last year.. this year.... .376 average 19 RBI's.. He picked off 6 and threw out 2 in district...He is solid at the dish... the kid is playing on the all Texas Sophmore team.. He is a first teamer.  In all district a tie is a tie.. they both get the award
With a 9 team District and you have a tie for 1st team you could vote on the 2 that are tied and with the odd number of voters get a 1st teamer and a 2nd teamer...
there had to be 3 kids put up for 1st team or one of the coaches was not there or did not vote... that is the only way I could see a tie in a 9 district team.... they usually don’t do run-offs. Everyone would have known what that coach picked.. Could create predigest against future picks.. If it’s a tie then it is a tie... why not!!! They both deserve it..

 10.
So 4 out of the 6 catchers got 1st or 2nd team all district?  Seems like about everyone gets something these days.
No... more like 4 of 11-13. We have 9 teams in 19-4A. Some catchers pitch so another one has to step in.... one made D player of the year. the two first team had a tie on the vote... their for they both get the award... and one second team

I have seen his name get thrown around for every job thats come open the past few years, he is the new Toby Foreman.
nothing is offical until they announce it... JMO... It just makes since.... Was the AD at Lumberton before and was succesful (most of the kids he coached are now 37-43, most have or will have kids in high school, I think they will push for him) Knows the Area Has been Successful at a couple of schools He is looking for a job and... has been reported to be on Campus... I really think he gets the job
 12. Did any of ya'll watch the video??  He is smoking weed throughout the whole video.  Why is that not being mentioned?? The crazy part is he has not been arrested for position of a illegal substance... the proof is in the video.. That’s ok though... like his rap... he can serve my hamburgers with no pickles "for life", "for life", "for life"..... What an idiot!!!!
 13.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Saturday is the last day of the week. There is a limit on total games a player can play throughout the season. That total is based upon how many tournaments the player is active in as well.
last day of the week is friday when school is released.  A student does only have a limited number of games he can play throughout the season... and can play only one game during the school week (monday-friday ending after school is released) unless it is a make up game or for tournament.....  so he could play one game tuesday but play both JV/Varsity on Friday or Saterday
 14. This is a great series... gonna be fun to watch this one today.. as for last night.. here is what I saw and really I do not show any bias... no dog in this hunt UMP was bad BOTH ways... I do think Dayton got more though.. bad calls on strikes all night on both sides...the last 3 calls were very bad. I have never seen a called 3rd strike that hit the ground to end a game that the catcher has to throw to 1st base. Roe should have not been thrown out. (and he is allowed to play today)  he did not try to run over the catcher.. he side stepped, put both arms around chest for protection and NEVER lowered his shoulder a bit..  Even if he had slid feet first it would have looked smallish because he was waiting so long.  In fact the Cather for Nederland should have been thrown out twice... YOU CANT STAND IN BASE LINE UNTIL YOU HAVE THE BALL.. new rule that was put in a couple of years ago..... never the less.. no harm no foul. However ump did not give up 9 hits in first three inn..  I thought Nederland played better and they won.. Again cant wait to see the end of this one... good luck both teams..
 15. So what yall are saying is yall are band wagon guys... If he does well you jump support him or if he fails this year you bash him... What ever happen to support the program/coach FIRST not he has to "PROVE HIMSELF FIRST"??.. He has been coaching for many years... He has already PROVED himself.... Turned Orangfield into a playoff team and Crosby... Yet you still dought him... WOW!!! What message are you sending the kids of your community (apples don't fall far from the tree)?? This is a growing problem I see in todays youth.... that "A person must prove himself to gain my respect".  That is why kids today argue with coaches/teachers/adults and are quick to make excesses when failure arises.  "Its not my fault, its someone else" Here is an idea...try support your program... says positive things... support your coach publicly... THIS WILL BREAD SUCCESS.. Dont bail on the first little thing that YOU think is wrong.. KIDS HEAR AND LISTEN TO WHAT YOU SAY the most influential person in a kids life is his/her parents. How you react is how they will.

I'm certain there is much talent at WB, I'm just not confident that Flanigan can utilize it on the level required to win in this district.  I believe that they will have a better record than last year, but not a record that will get them in the playoffs.  Also, following the turn around that WB saw under Stump and theor ability to keep winning, the expectations are much higher at this stage.  A winning season is not enough because prior to Flanigan coming on board the program was a winning, playoff bound team.  Just my opinion, but I don't think that he will be able beat Memorial, North Shore, Deer Park, or Laporte this year.  As a graduate of WB I hope that he does, but I am less than confident that they are ready to compete on a playoff level yet.
WB won district ONE time under Coach Stump. There was no big four when Stump coached the Bruins. It was a six team district including Channelview and Baytown Sterling. It was pretty much a given they would get in the playoffs. It is a much tougher district now. I don't believe anyone is saying the Bruins will win district but, they will be talented enough to make the playoffs. I think they knock off one of the playoff teams from last year and get in. I know of a few baseball guys that played MLB from HJ.
Ben Broussard, who grew up in Beaumont, but moved HJ in HS plays for MLB Indians or did. I guess he's still playing.
Ben played for McNeece(3 time hitting champ) then drafted by the reds also played for the Indians, Seatle, Rangers, and then was traded to the NYY.  He played AAA for  the Yanks then quit.  I heard he is tring to get back into it again. Also Tyson Young was drafted out of High School from HJ. Some others that I know that played college ball. Basketball Lamanack, Neil - cant remember where Spears, Kenyon - Lamar Baseball there was one big one that graduated in late 90's that played for the reds. cant remember name McKeller, Laine - McNeece Erickson, Tim - Lamar I think Vaglika, Matt - Angelina McKeller, Pat - New Mexico, Angelina Robuck - Lamar another pitcher that was on the 07 team to Lamar. cant remember his name Duplant this year already commited

 20.
I would like to see somebody research the top 10 era, k's, wins  in the area so far this season  and  be sure and include what grade level they are in.  I see some info. from fairly far away. I am talking the Golden Triangle area. I try and read Max Preps but some  area coaches will not input their stats to that Website.  I can probably name several. White-Lumb-11th., Guidry-BC-12th, Franklin-Kountze-10th, Marshall-Kountze-10th, A.Anderson-WOS-10th, G. Anderson-WOS-10th, Shugart-BC-10th, Howard -PAM-10th,. Anyhow I obviously do not know all the top Pitchers but someone out there does.
according to max preps Davenport is 14 in nation in K's, number 1 in 4A. The kid last year had 89 k's in district alone. 120 for the year
