Here is my take. I'm middle/upper, closer to middle class even though I have never felt like it. Within reason, I buy what I want, when I want, and manage to contribute to 401K and still have money to put in accessible savings. FYI, I bring my lunch to work daily and do not eat out often. I think we are spoiled as a country. I grew up never wanting for nothing. We did not eat out every night, my Mom cooked every day, We also didn't eat steak, it was mostly rice and gravy (round steak-cheap), chicken and pork chops....all cheap. I was blessed that my father shrimped on the weekends, so after he paid for his fuel selling shrimp, we got the extra. I actually got tired of shrimp and crabs.....which I would of thought was impossible. While prices are higher, Pork chops and chicken are still cheap enough, along with beans and rice, you can feed a family very reasonably. The problem is, we have been brain washed that everyone is equal and that is simply not true. A perfect example is years ago when I was single, I hung out with a Doctor and attorney who were also single.....After a couple months of living their lifestyle, looking at my bank account, we were NOT equal.....I could not afford to do what they did. A very expensive lesson in economics...not everyone us equal. As far as the Epstein files, only a very small percent of people care anymore, and majority are Trump haters hoping there is something that will make him look bad. I am 100% convinced that Biden admin would of added that to all the other tings they accused him of during the Biden term. The victims have stated they never seen Trump do anything inappropriate and he never went to Island. So, we can keep talking about it, but it will not change anything - Trump is still a powerhouse politically....

Personally, I think y'all are all too invested in this, and the ending you get will never satisfy.

This one is indefensible, which is why nobody is commenting in here. It's highly unlikely he watched the whole video before reposting it, but that's irrelevant. If you're the president of the United States you better check what you post before you hit send. If I'd posted the same video last night I would've been fired before I made it into work this morning.

I think you don’t know what executing is. But as to why he was shot, I know that one officer yelled “gun!”, and within a second or two of that another officer disarmed him, during which the gun went off. I believe the officer who fired the shots either saw the pistol taken and in the struggle mistakenly thought that the victim had pulled it from the holster, or didn’t see the gun but heard “gun” and then almost immediately heard the shot and thought the victim was pulling the trigger. I don’t think the victim “deserved” to be shot, and I don’t think it should’ve happened under these circumstances, but I do think there’s going to be a pretty strong argument for ruling the shooting as justified. It’s not really any different than a lot of the cases we see where some kid who’s afraid of the cops runs when he’s pulled over for speeding or fights the cops because they’re busting him on a misdemeanor marijuana charge. The situation escalates needlessly and all of a sudden something that shouldn’t have been a big deal at all puts a cop in a situation where they have to make a split-second decision based on the information they have and their reasonable belief that they’re in danger. Oftentimes when we can go back and look at it from a different angle (and in slow motion), the cop could’ve done something different. But they wouldn’t have had to make a split-second decision if the person they were dealing with didn’t put them in the situation to begin with. Sometimes cops get it wrong, and sometimes it’s still justified. I think that may end up being the case here.

Everyone else must have better eyes than me, because from one angle it looks like one thing and from others it looks like something else. I’m not positive what happened. I think the officer was able to grab his gun? I also think the gun may have discharged when he grabbed it, meaning the officer who shot could’ve believed the victim fired a shot. Hopefully there’s some body cam footage to clear it up, because even in the “clear” videos there’s a lot going on and it’s hard to see exactly what’s happening. All that said, carrying a gun and then putting yourself in a situation where you may end up in a struggle with law enforcement is not a great idea. In the same way that putting yourself in a situation where trying to flee from law enforcement leads you to accelerate your vehicle towards an officer is not a great idea. I thought the goode shooting was obviously justified and the officer acted reasonably. I have a feeling this one is going to end up falling in the “lawful but awful” category.

I have no desire to “get” Trump or destroying MAGA. Go MAGA. I just don’t want him to deter pursuing the guilty, which he is doing.

The people that are saying “all he is done is sue people and put his name on stuff” - are either brain dead, only listens to MSNBC, didn’t get past the first grade, very late stages of dementia, or a booted member named Cardinalbacker. We have Hispanic friends (legal) that attend a Hispanic church here in Silsbee. According to them, 90-95% of the congregation voted Republican this last election and will still vote Republican this coming midterm. They want illegals (some are family members) out of Texas. They understand why some come here illegally (good people looking for a better life, not the criminals) but feel if they had to go through all the red tape to be here legally, then everyone should. BTW, this new market is being owned and operated by a local business man who owns a pallet company here and employs several Hispanic families that were in need of this type market. Kudos to Mr. Worthy.

It goes way further back than that. When you go back to the Nixon years, you had Rs who told Nixon “we’re going to vote to convict… you need to resign.” Somewhere in the 90s is when things really started to get more adversarial, and we no longer hold “our” guys accountable. From the Whitewater investigation that turned into Clinton being impeached for lying about honking his intern… it’s just been getting worse. The “Lil Bushie” cartoon when we were in the gulf war. The racist attacks on Obama, combined with his opinions/views/policies on race that only widened racial gaps. I can remember being astounded in ‘15 when Trump came out in the first debate hammering everybody on stage-it was comedy gold and we’d never seen anything like it on the presidential stage before. But now that angry, attack, lie, defame strategy is found at every level of government. Is he to blame? Nah, he was just the first to one to do it… we’re to blame for accepting it. And here’s the thing… I correct my own kids, not anybody else’s. I’m a conservative, Christian, Texan, American. I used to say Republican, but when I see what republicans support today, I can’t claim to be one of them. And MAGA is a horrible political movement that has hijacked, then destroyed the Republican/conservative movement for decades to come, I’m afraid. Ted Cruz used to be considered the most raging conservative prick. Even Republicans had a hard time dealing with him because he was too rigidly right wing. Today he’s “Lyin’ Ted,” a no-good RINO who needs to be taken out by “We The People.” And it’s not because his views have changed, he just wasn’t MAGA enough for MAGA. Same with John Cornyn. At once thought to be the third most conservative member of the US Senate, he’s now facing a defeat by “Our General” Ken Paxton, the corrupt Texas Attorney General who is loved for being one of Trump’s biggest attack dogs, in spite of everything he’s done. Greg Abbott? MAGA hates him now. With MAGA, it doesn’t matter what crimes you commit, as long as you’re loyal to Trump, you’ll have the support of the voters. But you’re right… I’m definitely more vocal when I see “my” side screwing up-because I expect my side to do right, regardless of what the other side is doing. Weak men, when faced with their own shortcomings, will say “yeah, but look what everybody else was doing, too.”

He would definitely be up there but his teams at Hightower and other places wasn't as scoring prolific as his teams at Yates. Jackie Carr, legendary coach at Wheatley, would be right up there with 100 point wins.

I don't think any officer(LEO) (especially this 8 year veteran) wakes up hoping they kill someone. They just want to do their shift and go home to their family every night.....I don't blame them for doing what they think is necessary to not die. I carry most of the time, my biggest fear is having to pull my weapon and use it. Not only the thought I killed someone, someone's parent or child, I'll have to live with that but it could bankrupt me in court, even if proven justified. For me, I hope my Son or anyone I care for wouldn't act so stupidly interfering with LEO's trying to do an already hard job.

That is kind of what happened in the Amadou Diallo case. Detective, were going to speak to a person (Amadou Diallo) on the street who fit the description of a sexual assault suspect. They asked him for identification and he ran, running up a stairway and reached into his pocket and pulled out a black pistol while he was running. The closest officer yelled “Gun!” and there was a shot and the officer went down. The other officers returned fire killing Diallo. Except the black pistol was his wallet. The closest officer who yelled gun tripped and accidentally fired his gun. The officers behind him heard the officer yell gun, heard the gunshot and saw the officer go down. It all happened in a couple of seconds. They all were indicted for a second-degree murder and a jury found all of them not guilty, finding it was a reasonable belief under the circumstances.

With that said, there is another member here (making many many posts in support of the right) that is in the same situation as CB/Missing Band. That member would have to be gone if we kick this one to the curb.

They are arresting people in Texas. The Texas government however is not refusing to notify the federal government of illegal aliens under arrest nor trying to hide them. The best way to deport people is to notify ICE when such a person is in custody. The person is already safely locked up and there is no need for a street confrontation.

West Brook players were wrong to even go over there in the first place, and I’m sure that’ll be handled. But no adult should ever be going back and forth with a kid. That’s a lack of emotional intelligence and maturity. Now social media is full of think pieces from grown people blaming refs, blaming coaches, blaming everything except the truth. Why are we so afraid to let our kids fail? This is exactly why this generation struggles — too many adults want to hold their hands and shield them from every stone thrown their way. Life is harder than a basketball game. Let’s teach them how to stand on two feet, hold their heads high, and handle defeat with character. That’s how you build young men, not by protecting them from every uncomfortable moment.

Same. Except I use the Capital One (1.5% back) strictly for all regular recurring bills like utilities, insurance, prescriptions, etc. I use the one from the Credit Union for incidentals. I write one check a month still because I just can’t get myself to trust the City for the water bill, and they want direct bank access. Everything is paid off every month.

Some things have leveled off or in a few cases the price has come down (gas) but for the most part, it still sucks. My wife reminds me of the fact every time we go grocery shopping. She grabs a product and states "you know what this used to cost 3 years ago?". I always reply with "I have no idea, never looked at the prices, just grab what I needed or wanted". Makes her even more mad. lol Needless to say, my wife buys off brand products now days. That used to not be the case.

In the realignment, districts draw their schedules out. It's not done individually between each school but by district committee. Sometimes schools can negotiate the home and home after the order is set.

The man wearing the MAGA hat should have stayed in his truck. But, that’s another issue. He had as much right to his free speech as the kids. The 10 or 15 kids that jumped him while it looked like he was trying to retrieve his hat were assaulting—not protecting—as some of the parents were saying as a means to justify their actions. Great parenting. Teaching your kid it’s okay to resort to violence when someone questions your actions, and then congratulate them for it when they were supposed to be in school anyway. I did get a kick out of the video from Minnesota. Walz welcomed students to the Capital to protest, and they wound up fighting and destroying property while they were there. Imagine that. I think it beat out the drunk teen in Kyle, TX protesting and arrested, and the Atlanta kids destroying laptops and such by a nose.

Don't believe everything you read. They say "no tax increase," but the city/county raises value of your house/property. Thus, your property taxes total goes up. Look at where it is located and why you think it ight be important..... What if China "made a deal" or Russia "made a deal" ? Instead of just being against it because Trump is for it, research the why behind it. You may find you agree with something Trump is planning.

Pretty amazing to me that there is clear video of the officer being hit by the car, clear precedent and case law showing why the officer was justified in the shooting, commentary from almost every legal expert in the country saying he was justified, etc... And yet somehow half the country (including politicians and law enforcement higher ups) is still screaming that this is murder.
