Teams that have clinched playoffs
TrojanWarrior08 and 4 others reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
Here is a list of the teams that have clinched the playoffs with two weeks left of the regular season. This list is only teams that have actually clinched. Not teams that are likely to make playoffs or could or should. Just the ones that HAVE punched their ticket to the playoffs. Teams are listed in alphabetical order and not by seed. Lot's of seeding still left to be determined. 23-6A CE King, North Shore 9-5A DI Port Arthur Memorial (district champs) 11-5A DI Angleton, La Porte 8-5A DII Montgomery, Port Neches-Groves 10-4A DI Bridge City, Huffman, Little Cypress-Mauriceville, Lumberton 9-4A DII West Orange-Stark 9-3A DI Fairfield 10-3A DI East Chambers, Hardin 12-3A DII Newton, Woodville 11-2A DI San Augustine 12-2A DII Evadale, West Sabine 12-1A DI Chester 21 teams have clinched. Still need 25 more. 10-4A DI has all 4 of their playoff spots clinched. Last two weeks of the season will be very interesting.5 points -

I agree about the opt up. It should only be for schools with major travel issues. (i.e. El Paso, etc.) Not for schools that are are only traveling 60 or less miles. BC, HJ and Liberty all opted up for competition reasons. Not travel. You'll never convince me otherwise. I can see BC opting up because they are actually very close to DI numbers anyway. HJ and Liberty are not even close. Also, I am not all that hip on all the other sports going to divisions but if that is how it's going to be, then have divisional districts like football and not decide the divisions after district play. That actually allows a larger school to get in D2 depending on who makes playoffs. If they do go with divisional districts this next realignment for all sports (I am hearing they won't) then schools that opt up for football should have to play all the rest of their sports in that football district. You shouldn't be able to pick and choose what sport you want to opt up in and not.5 points -
This not a 50/50 game. Montgomery’s offense relies heavily on their running back #1. Their passing game is average. Their defense is adequate. They haven’t played a PNG caliber team yet. PN-G 35 Montgomery 175 points

I appreciate this explanation of the mental gymnastics, but I already knew what it looked like. Are you dizzy yet? The fact is Democrats are trying to hold the country hostage and force through policy that they can't pass through regular means because their party is such a dumpster fire they've managed to lose control of all branches of government over the last 4 years. They then have the gall to blame republicans for democrats not giving the votes needed to open the government back up, and a lot of their base is dumb enough to believe it. The problem for the left is that the moderate voters are NOT dumb enough to believe it. So while the lunatic fringe may rally around this foolishness and go join a protest and burn something down or whatever it is they do when they're mad, the left is hemorrhaging even more swing and moderate voters through this stunt. The left is like a kid who isn't good enough to win so they take their ball and go home so nobody can play and then blames everyone else for the game ending.4 points

Government Shutdown
bullets13 and 3 others reacted to thetragichippy for a topic
I think this is the elephant in the room that no one wants to address. There are so many people that work crappy jobs to support themselves and their families and never think getting government assistance. Yet there are TOO MANY that just accept Government assistance. We somehow have to convince people they will he happier and have a sense of pride when they work and EARN a living..... My Father taught me several things, but his most important were life lessons......here are the ones that stuck with me (that I also taught my Son) 1. There is no embarrassment in having a low wage job - embarrassment is when you have no job. 2. When you are at work, if there is nothing to do, grab a shovel and dig a hole......when you're done, if there is still nothing to do, fill it up. Repeat until there is something to do lol 3. Never place your hands in your pocket when you are at work, that is a sign of lazy. So basically his thoughts were there is no reason to not have a job. He worked an instrument mechanic for "Gulf" and very good at that job. When they would strike, he would go work at the Orange Rice Mill slinging sacks of rice off the trains, or work at a body shop, painting cars. He was a worker! THAT is the mentality we need to establish in 2025 - too many people expect things for free and the Government has also been a player making it too easy to get free stuff.4 points -

Barrow was given a bunch of snotty, spoiled brats who didn’t adhere to or care about rules his last few years yet he still tried his hardest to instill professionalism and morals into them like always. Two things about Barrow are that he can turn mediocrity into greatness and young boys into men, but the kids have to want it. I think it’s been long enough that you people should stop blaming the state of bulldog football on Monte Barrow and maybe start looking at yourselves and your sons.4 points -

The right is offering a clean bill. The left, who as you point out has zero branches of control, is trying to hold the bill hostage to force liberal policy. But it's the right's fault. It's wild watching you guys spin it. It's gonna hurt y'all in the long run, though. The fringe lunatic left are the only ones actually buying it. I guess it makes sense that the party of entitlement thinks they're entitled to get something they want out of an unrelated bill to keep the government open and then blames everyone else when they don't get it. But hey, keep alienating those swing voters and moderates. Y'all already have the SNAP vote, so the republicans aren't losing anything there. Besides, it's not like most of them can't figure out who's really behind this all anyway.3 points -

One thing people are seeing during the schumer shutdown is how many people rely on the government for food. 3.5 million Texans alone will lose food stamps. In a state of 31 million. 11% of Texans rely on federal money to eat. That is not help and assistance, that is lack of drive and will power for one's self and family. Living off the government has become a career for many (not all but many). As with everything the government touches it cannot properly oversee and run things. And they want to oversee our healthcare.3 points

Pretty sure LaPorte is a very solid team and we held them to 21 points on their turf. They have one of the best RB in the state. Klien Oak also has a very good RB in the state. PNG stop both those backs and we will stop Montgomery running game no doubt. If Montgomery can’t pass, it will be a very long Halloween night for them.3 points -
You can’t bring up average scores per game and compare. PNG would probably average a ton more points if the majority of their games weren’t over at Halftime. Playing 3rd and 4th string players on both sides. Montgomery will keep it close for a bit but PNG will pull away in the second half for another double digit win.3 points

Nederland fans have been spoiled for a long time. The reality is Nederland had a great coach in Neumann and benefited from always being towards the higher end of the district's enrollment numbers. Numbers play a huge factor in football and the Dogs are currently on the low end. To piggyback off the poster defending Monte, the kids have changed in Nederland. This is not a racial statement, but more an observation in parenting and blue collar mentality. The toughness that was once a staple isn't the same and because of it, the old camp fun way of doing things just doesn't work. More a shot at modern parenting than the kids themselves. This observation probably applies to more than just Nederland. This Nederland group just isn't all that talented...and they've had injury issues. Poor cycles and bad luck happen. I'm not saying Coach Rich is infallible, but his team last night wasn't even close to this PNG group. Lots of sophomores are getting major minutes and the underlevels still seem to be winning. The future is bright and I believe we can't judge this coach until he's had 3-4 seasons. There are ex-coaches in this thread with an ax to grind, disgruntled parents, and a bunch of others who have little clue as to what they are talking about. Remember, sports are supposed to be fun. If you can't watch without being miserable and wanting to fire everyone, its time to find something else to do. Go Dogs!3 points -

Well that's what I'm wondering with the firing of Barrow, if it's not the coaching , but the kids or lack of talent then why was Barrow fired!? I think he would've done just as good these pass two seasons if not maybe a little better (which is not saying much) if he was still there. But what do I know, I'm just going by what I'm seeing on the field, and it's not good!!! If they don't win any more games this season...Sheeesh3 points

Not sure who predicted a blowout, but Ill take an 8 point DC win any day, I love this game. A team needs a good hard fought game to get ready for the playoffs. If the radio stats are correct PN-G hung a 500 on them. PN-G hasn't given up over 38 points this season. 38 tonight, 29 to Huntsville and no one else has scored more than 21 this season. An average of 18 ppg. Allowing a total of 166 points. While scoring just under 400. for 44 PPG. Still have a game against Dayton. Looking forward to facing our Purple Brothers from across the river. I believe Coach Joseph is now 50 and 6 as PN-Gs coach and 15-1 in 1 score games. We are very lucky to have the coaches that we do. Also the very impressive QB from Montgomery hasn't threw a pic this season. The Indians put the pressure on him and got two pics. and held him to a QBR of 39,4. Was it the greatest night for PN-G? No. However they played a hell of a game and won against a great football team. Hats off to Montgomery for playing a great football game. PNG-s defense held RB Ben to 105 yards. That in itself is a statement. That kiddo is a hoss.. PNG won this game with pressure the second half causing their great QB to be unable to get set to pass the ball. Great game Indians and hats off to Montgomery for playing a hell of a game again.2 points -

We’ll see where they wind up. People also assume LP is gonna lose to Angleton. They forget LP is the team that hasn’t lost a district game in over 2 years, has better O & D numbers than last year, is more balanced, and has actually played PO teams & teams with winning records. Angleton’s opponents to this point are 21-45, and none have a winning record. LP’s numbers all around are better than last year, even though they’ve had some mental lapses. Similar to last year, Angleton’s numbers are better. But, they lost to LP in district last year in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score, and had to have miracle comebacks in every PO game I remember to get to the rematch with LP while LP doubled up—at least—on everyone in the PO’s until letting Angleton come back on them in the rematch. The Angleton/LP tilt Friday was a toss-up to me before injuries. Now, I have no idea because I don’t know what to expect. I have no idea what Angleton team we’ll be seeing.2 points -

So what about the PNG running game? Coach Joseph is 48-6 in his 4th season and the offense hasn’t changed much at all in that time. #27 & #6 for PNG are as good of RB as anyone has in the district. Yes #1 for Montgomery is a very good player and he will be a handful for PNG to contain but I have watched every single game since Joseph has taken over and only a handful of teams have had a answer to slow down our running game. But you have to pick your poison with PNG this year because our passing game has improved drastically from last season which is needed when you play stronger teams and putting 8 to 9 defensive players in the box puts your defense in a very vulnerable situation playing man to man. I like the fact we throw deep even though we haven’t caught all of them this puts the defense in a bad situation if we do connect it’s 7 points and we have been behind a lot of defenders and either dropped balls right in our hands or the pass just be a little off target. But the fact of us doing that is a game changer for this season. This game will be a great game for both teams getting ready for the playoffs and I pray both teams come out of it injury free and let the best team win.2 points -
