  1. It would be bold, but it would be the right decision for Tarkington. You have a good coach that's done a lot for their program and would support the other programs as well. A new football coach/AD will most likely last two years max and back to ground zero. The new guy will be their 6th head football coach in 10 years.
  2. Schools like Shepherd, Hardin, and Tarkington need staff consistency for sure. Schools with limited talent also have to adapt their schemes to fit their players, some fans/parents don't like that. Hardin had an outstanding year, but would they have been as successful had they remained in a spread offense? The same applies to Shepherd. Some towns want a flashy offense without the players to execute it.
  3. Another good coach, ran off by parents who thought their kids were better than what they were. A lot of false perception of reality in these smaller town.
  4. If you have seen his kids play over the past couple of years.. it is great! He does a phenomenal job with the talent he has. The best scorer was a Senior, but he has won multiple years, when all the other programs have struggled mightily. Tarkington struggles to keep coaches, but I can assure you coaching isn't the biggest reason for their lack of success... unless you are listening to some of the fans in bleachers.
  5. Don't really know too much about their coaches, other than their boys' basketball coach is a good one that's probably had the most success out of everyone. Would this be a spot where they could fill the AD role with a non football head coach? I think this will be Tarkington's 6th AD change in the last 10 years and three of those were with Belt. Football is 3rd on the list in Tarkington after baseball and basketball. Tough spot to coach at!!
  6. Seems like they basically had a home town guy that wanted to stay a few years, but weren't happy. A school that has relatively very little talent, pays low, and might have some of the worst facilities in 4A/3A might not attract many quality candidates looking to stay pass a year or two max.
  7. There wasn't a Kyler Murray in BH😉
  8. @89Falcon pretty sure Silsbee won it a few years ago in back to back years. They had 3 RBs that could go and an OL/DL that was really good.
  9. UIL allows HISD schools to opt and stay in one district. Until they do something to stop these schools, then other schools should be allowed to opt up. HISD uses it for the same reason, they cannot compete in other districts as a whole. Can Liberty and HJ compete in 4D1? Not sure, but I bet it's more competitive than playing in their current district.
  10. @TrojanMoJo I was at the game vs Coldspring. There was never anything close to a fight. Got chippy at the very end, but both teams maintained great composure for a rivalry game. Most of the kids are friends outside the field.
