  4. If DuBois runs the offense like he did when he was OC, it will be somewhat of improvement. Week to week the scheme was different with him as OC. The last several years we seem stuck on one page of the playbook.

  5. Whatever you do Dre and whenever you do it, get that degree, or be well on your way to getting it if a good chance at the NFL comes along. Engineering, IT/computers, History, sociology whatever.

  7. After 51 straight years of attending the boys basketball state tournament, my streak will end this season as I will not be attending this year. My goal since I started going was to attend as many as my dad did who started taking me when I was 8 years old in 1972. My dad ended up attending 50 straight, his last time going in 2007. I made 51 straight last season. My priorities have changed over the years and my interest has waned some the last couple of years. Got grand sons to run around with now (T-ball, soccer, etc.) along with hanging out at the beach. With the wife and I retired now, just got other things I want to do. Actually I'll be hitting the new Horseshoe casino next week. I enjoyed each and every trip to the state tourney. Great memories with my dad and got to see some great basketball. I have been truly blessed. I may attend another state tourney (particularly if Silsbee goes) but the streak had to end sometime. Will miss hanging out with coaches, officials, media and fans that attended on a regular basis. Good luck To Beaumont United next week. Bring home that 3rd state championship.

  8. Your post shows, once again, how truly ignorant you are. You equate no charges with doing nothing wrong. Remember OJ wasn’t charged, must have been innocent, lol.

  9. LOL, I'm sure you're right, the democrats hold their members to such high standards. Bill Clinton, Biden, Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, Swallwell, Schiff...I could do this all day.

  10. There was 1 with better record. And 3 yet to be given an opportunity to prove themselves. Although I wonder if more would've applied if it was truly opened to all possible candidates. One coach even joined this site just to inquire about the position. His name is not on the list. See how you can lose potentially elite coaches to buddy hires. 🧢 0-0 Robert Deshazo 45-51 Milton Dwayne Dubois 79-51 Ricklan Holmes 0-0 Robie Robbins 3-7 Jake Smith 0-0 Michael Trahan 28-54 Bruce Munden (??? 14. They could open the upper bowl and hold 15k+ plus for UT basketball games if they needed to, there just isn't enough demand for those tickets. So theoretically they could seat 15k+ for the state tournament.

  17. What if he got seriously injured? Or what if his nil deal was conditioned on not playing any other sport? These kids that are at Drelon’s level can now become millionaires before they leave college. It’s easy for us to say be loyal to your hometown. I can tell you, I love my hometown but I love my family more. Drelon and Jared should both be in the top 1% of income earners in Silsbee, Texas within months of graduation.

  19. Btw, for those of you that think the Slot T is boring, you must not have seen the 32 Wham out of the “I” formation from Coach Brown. Personally I thought the world of him, but his play calling left a lot to be desired. My son played OT & DT as did the other tackle (1986 I think). Both ended up joining the Marines. Figured the jarheads couldn’t throw anything at them they hadn’t already seen. On a side note, they were some of the first troops to land and met each other on the tarmac in Saudi, and was in Desert Storm. Other young man passed away over a year ago.

  20. But not as much as football. His skill set in football is much much better than basketball.

  21. Mike, reading your post is kinda sobering in a way. The winds of change happens to everyone sooner or later. The memories made with your dad are priceless. Maybe it’s time to make some with those grandsons. Carry on!

  22. Still went by win percentage. Top two teams are seeded off win percentage, then a coin flip decides who those two play. If you look at the other classification match ups, you will see they did not use rankings. This is how UIL has done the pairings for years.

  23. Insurrection 😂🤣 Now we know why the 14,000 hours of video of J6 has been kept from the public. It didn’t fit the narrative they were selling.

  27. MAYFIELD

    Vidor is open !!

It's funny how in this world, you really can't have a opinion. Matthews did a hell of a job, and changed many kids lives for the better. In the eyes of every fans you are judged on the what have you done lately rule. Let's be honest with coaches from High School to Pros, you must win, you are judged by that. I feel if Matthews schemed a passing game into his playbook, his teams would have been difficult to beat over the years. However my hat is off to this guy on a great job. I enjoyed the games my sons played against him. Wish you much success coach.
