  1. I just watched the video and neither team was any match at all for Jasper. The announcers pointed out that the Bulldogs won't have as much depth this year as they have in the past two or three years, but man are they fast! The second-string offense was effective for the most part against Evadale's first-team defense, but the QB-center exchange was pretty ragged as there were at least four fumbled snaps. The running game was solid and there were a couple of nice pass plays mixed in. I was really impressed with the second-string defense. One of the defensive ends (#81) was in on everything and the Rebels had all kinds of trouble moving the ball. The Bulldogs first-team was pretty sharp in both the controlled scrimmage and the two timed quarters against Coldspring. The offense scored touchdowns on the first three possessions and will be run-heavy as usual. The top two guys are going to be a pretty formidable combo and can score from anywhere on the field. Jasper didn't throw much at all, but they had some success and should be a little better in the passing game than in years past. The defense was pretty stout for the most part, but the Trojans managed a score in the half that they played because of a Jasper penalty that got them into scoring position. Overall, it was a good night for us considering the long lay-off from football. I'm hoping we'll have football in Lumberton next Friday night. As usual, the weather plays a huge role in things early in the season. You guys make sure you're prepared for whatever comes. God bless...

  4. Splendora looked very good considering they are picked 5th in district and Needville is a top 15 in state pre season pick. I liked what I saw on both sides by them but I am really excitied to back in the stands watching football. I think Splendora is on the road the next two weeks against pretty tough oppenants so we will see how they do. Good Luck to everyone this season.

  7. Help me with my thinking. Morality tells the truth, but moralism lies. Morality is not about saying the nice thing, and moralism can unify people, but the truth divides people. Moralism gives room to immoral things. ,like abhorrent political views, such as Political Correctness and Political Correctness is Cultural Marxism. Moralism says โ€œI should not say not nice thingsโ€, so to say you can always trust a communist to lie or the only good communist is a dead communist, is wrong and should not be uttered, because it is not nice to want people to die , or call people habitual liars. Even though said communist will lie and kill people, history has shown us that Communism or any other type of totalitarian form of government kills and imprisons people for not following the mandates of the state. Morality says โ€œthis is wrong and must be stopped , at whatever cost ,even at the cost of our own lives because โ€œwe love our neighborsโ€ who will die or be imprisoned when Marxist ideas become law.โ€ It is easy to be moral ,and it is easy to hide our cowardice under the veil of moralism. But morality will not allow this. I am reminded of the story ,of a church, in Nazi Germany in the 1940's that was by a train station, and one Sunday a train filled with Jews heading to the concentration camp stopped, and the church members could hear the cries of help from the train. Morality says "go help these people", but sadly all the church did was to mask the cries for help by singing louder. These church folks were no doubt "good people''; they loved their family, worked hard, were educated, they paid their bills and submitted to the government, but their moralism did not help those who were being led to slaughter. (Proverbs 24:11-12) It is easy to judge people from the past, and the last thing I want to do is set on a moral high-horse and say โ€œI would never have allowed thatโ€. Not when we see "wokeness" and a Marxist revolution going on in our country, and is destroying my neighbors property and life. Not when my neighbors livelihood and job is being lost because they are deemed non-essential, because my health and safety is more important than the well being of their family . Not when the state is threatening to imprison or fine people for not wearing a mask, in the name of my health and safety, as they let real criminals out of jail so they do not catch the COVID. No, I better stay off that moral high horse becuase the COVID might kill me, but the abortion clinics kill thousands of babies a day. Moral people will take a knee when they are scared, but morality tells us to take a stand. In the Bible we learn what type of people will not enter the kingdom of heaven, and I can check the โ€œI am more moral than those sinful peopleโ€ box on many of them. I am not a sodomite, nor a thief, I am not a drunkard, I am not a fornicator, I am not an adulator, I am not effeminate, I have never murdered anyone, but the one that scares me, the one that probably got those โ€œgoodโ€ church folks at the train station though and the one that will get many people today is "cowards will not enter the kingdom of heaven" (Revelations 21:8) See morality does not allow for cowardice, neither does God ,for morality is of God, moralism does allow for cowardice. For moralism allows us to justify our immorality before God. But here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst (1 Tim 1:15). So I am glad that I am saved from my sin of not only cowardice, but all the other ones on the list. My point is, morality is not nice, at best apart from Christ we are moralist and in Christ at our worst we are moralist. So how do we as Christians apply the gospel in our everyday lives as lawlessness and tyranny become the norm. How do we live this out in courage, with sound minds able to think clearly ,and deeply as the foundations are destroyed. What is the proper way to apply force if the mob comes to our house, if the government comes to steal our children and the law of man sides against us? How do we not submit again to the yoke of slavery as Galatians 5 tells us not to do. I do not wish to think like a child, I wish to put away childish thinking. It is 2020 and America is a post-modern and post christian nation, so being in the majority probably means you are doing something contrary to the gospel. How can we love our neighbor as ourselves when our neighbors are losing their unalienable rights? So do not give the moralist reason, give me the gospel reason. Is not being a coward telling everybody God loves them, or is it entering into their suffering? Does entering into their suffering mean we literally fight with them in battle as our grandfathers did in WWII are we to be pacifist? Do we stand up to bullies and punch if need be ,or do we just help the victim after the bully gets through with them? Can one stay neutral in a civil war? Last time I checked there is no commandment of thou shalt be nice, but the church seems to think there is and the other 10 do not matter. Do we believe the Bible when it says there is a time for war and a time for peace ,and what are the consequences if we confuse the two? I am not looking to be a good little boy, but a strong Christian man. Like I said any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

  9. My cousin went to watch, he said the first string Rebels scored twice and got scored on three times against the jasper 2's. He said it got out of hand bad when the Rebel backups went in, as it should. Not bad for the Rebs though considering how good Jasper is. Sure am glad they got to play, Coach told the boys that after West Hardin canceled on them he had a couple of other scrimmages lined up but they were shot down by the other school's administrations. Because the Dale had the one kid get the virus.

Speaking of beans, I do a "signature" ten bean soup with sausage, ham, chicken, ground meat and any other meat on hand. It ends up being a meat soup rather than a bean soup.

I wish! My son is a Senior there...that would be a dream. I do give plenty "motivational support" and may or may not have questioned an officials accountability from time to time...lol but no, I'm not a coach.

  16. Well, since I'm probably the lone Deweyville fan here, I will say this...My team looked really good last night. It will be a special year for the 'Ville. Someone please screenshot this so when we become famous I can be the "You heard it here first" guy. ๐Ÿคฃ Defense pitched a shutout...Offense ran the table. Absolutely, we know where we need to improve but that's the point of a scrimmage, after all. Our kids got to suit up and go and no school had a significant injury. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  19. I think I can agree with most of the above. It's ok to fight back when one is threatened. Judgment is for all. Not just the ones who need it the most. I again think of the words of Edmond burke. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Soon all good Christian men will have a choice to make. I stand with my brothers of all colors. Knowing that our faith will unite us in the times ahead.

For Lumbertonโ€™s sake, I hope not. That being said, itโ€™s early. Yโ€™all will get better, other teams will have injuries and then thereโ€™s COVID. Iโ€™m resolved to being happy that my son is playing football his senior year. Letโ€™s all be happy we have that - that those boys have that - at least for now. Your Bears will be ok.

The number 1,2 and 3 returning running backs are not playing because of Covid. They have chosen virtual learning. Neece knew the talent that was coming when he left. We are close to turning it around. If you think coach Jones is baseball only or that he doesn't work round the clock for football, your a fool. Just ask Cornell Thompson his opinion.
