  1. I drove by the field earlier and the sprinklers were on in the middle of a monsoon. The field should be perfect by Friday night!

    LCM vs. Woodville

Newton was one of the best teams LCM will see all year.

  3. Lol. Yall really making this into a battle.. this is why Silsbee will come out the gate better in O. Because you know what you get and know what he can do. And just like I've explained many times before, experience. Production on the big stage (Foster has done this 5 rounds in the playoffs) . Like I've said, in my eyes, it's a no brainer. Thinking back, Some of the Silsbee faithful thought the Calvin Tyler and Adonis Thomas position was a battle and gave Coach Smith a hard time when naming the starter Tyler... I just question the thought process sometimes of the people from Smoketown...

  5. Well, the graphic itself says, "TEXAN LIVE TOP 10 4A POWER RANKINGS." The tweet says "Texan Live's Southwest Football Rankings." But assuming the tweet title is the operative title, what is "Southwest" about a poll that contains 4 schools (Jasper, Silsbee, West Orange-Stark, Splendora) from SOUTHEAST Texas, 2 schools (Carthage and Henderson) from EAST Texas, 2 teams from CENTRAL Texas (Liberty Hill and La Vega), 1 team from the Greater Houston area, which is located in the SOUTHEASTERN part of Texas (Sealy), and a team from the Gulf Coast, which is in the SOUTHERN part of Texas (Cuero)? I don't know where Bert Brocker went to high school, but I would suggest that school district do something about it's geography curriculum!

  6. I agree with what you said in the first part of chapter 3 that the Tigers' will get better as the season goes on. PN-G will be a good test to start.

  7. Silsbee does pre-season as well as any team in the area, perhaps better. And the same thing happens every year: Silsbee plays a tough pre-season schedule, loses a few games to teams from bigger schools or to a highly-ranked team from their classification, and the consensus becomes, "Silsbee is weak this year." Then they tear through district (West Orange being the sole real roadblock) and get into playoffs. Last year Silsbee looked weak at the beginning, then it turned out they were one of the best in the state. The point in mentioning this is, win or lose against PNG, Silsbee is building a playoff team, not necessarily an "undefeated regular season" team. If I was a Silsbee fan, I wouldn't even worry about the PNG game. Silsbee is playing bigger, deeper teams to get ready for a long playoff season. I predict PNG wins handily. I'm thinking something like a 17-point win. Not because Silsbee is bad, but because PNG is usually a bad matchup for Silsbee (13-0 in the last 25 years). This makes sense, as PNG has something like 800 more students than Silsbee. Schematically, I think a run-heavy offense is easier to cover than a well-run spread (unless the running team has enormous size and speed -- Silsbee has some good size and some good speed. But unless they are fast and big like Marshall, who destroyed PNG on the ground in the playoffs last year, Silsbee isn't going to breeze past or over PNG). So PNG will be able to put up a lot of points while containing Silsbee enough to stay ahead. Even with the weakest team PNG has had (2012) in the past twenty years, PNG managed to beat Silsbee by one point. Silsbee had a decent playoff run that year, with a QB who went on to play some D1 (Patrick Reed, right?). When PNG has been a reasonably good team (decent in 2013 and good in 2016 and 2018), PNG has scored easily and often against Sislbee and played defense well-enough to survive vigorous comeback attempts (Even with Calvin Tyler putting up something close to 300 yards against us in 2016).

  8. I'm sure his time in Orangefield was very beneficial to a young man that's experienced a lot of turbulence in his life. A year of stability was likely invaluable to that kid. Now, I'd imagine this prep school can better prepare him for his basketball career than 3A ball here. I for one am excited to see how far he can go.

  12. Well the original poster did say it was a fight between families. In his defense.

  14. There was fighting between families last year just the way he said it. And it got physical " And the UIL got involved because one of the families daughters witch was a Cheerleader come running and started helping her side out she got kicked off the Cheer squad. Neither of the players where involved.

  15. i Understand what your talking about. But our defense is not up to par. Mostly dline and oline. I hope the kids get better

  16. No. No. No. We're not going to do this here! If you have a problem with how the league is being conducted, then you can contact the appropriate parties through the STJFL. But this is not going to be litigated on this site.

  17. Newton is good. They have been to back to back championships a lot of those kids have been practicing for 16 weeks unlike our 11. Just because they were not starting doesn’t mean they didn’t get experience.

Good on Luck, I have no sympathy for the Colts, this falls squarely at the feet of the Grigson, Irsay and Pagano regime. Word to the wise: build an OL around your franchise QB to at least attempt to keep him healthy.

  21. Did not see 2nd scrimmage, but Foster played better than you think. Receivers doing there own thing and not running there proper routes, makes QB look worse than it should. Against Vidor receiver taking wrong angle on screens, you can see on film ,twice should have been touchdown. Just youth, will get better. Been told Briscoe is a defensive starter, so that should settle your QB debate, for now

  23. Well you know LCM is band school. Drill team prob 35 or 40. It was a long night they don’t have much of a sideline. It was great to play them. They didn’t have much defense but we couldn’t keep up with that offense
    1 point
  24. Well, we don't have 200 band members, but we have a decent amount of dancers and twirlers too.. still going to be a magician act to get those kids and the fans in the stands...

  25. you misundersttod. I was saying I'm not surprised the tempo and play calling are getting better. You now have the best play calling in 3a.

  26. Good post I really don’t think Silsbee will win. Might be closer game then last year. I was just trying to boost egos. LCM did beat y’all in 2012 and in 2013 in district play. Good luck

  27. Yea I went to the JV game last year. I don't know what they are going to do with the band, dance team, cheerleaders, etc. plus the fans. I'll be there super early so we will see how this goes...

  28. Looking at my statement in a negative way Soulja... I personally think it’s a good thing. Do I think the position is in jeopardy? No. Do I think it matters that a Foster has shown some struggles? Yes. Do I think it pushes Foster to take the next step? Yes. My “thought process” is one that I don’t believe it will sink in til after the PNG game. Though, I am hopeful. jmo

  34. I saw that same video. I also seen a few Do ie players made a horrible effort to tackle this kid on that return... almost to the tune of trotting on the play... I have no idea what that was about... almost like they gave up...

  37. Im sorry you feel that way. Feel free to give me a call. Sounds like you have inaccurate information. My phone number is on the website. I'll assume if you dont call that you just want to hide behind a screen name online and make empty accusations. Have a nice day. I look forward to hearing from you.

  40. Could be wrong but, it's likely due to being so thin at the RB position. Lots of injuries at that position. I don't think it's a permanent move.....

  41. This dog won’t ever count the Stangs out...... I’m hoping we can run the ball and grind out a W at home. Here’s to hoping both teams come out of this injury free and battle tested.

  44. Wow thanks for the update! Agreed even knowing this is just a scrimmage being dominated by a lower class team like that can’t be good for the Rangers. On the other hand hearing that the Eagles not only moved the ball, but was stingy on Defense in encouraging for the Eagles.

  45. Sterling was really bad, BH scored 7 times to Sterlings zero. Sterling didn’t even get a first down till the third quarter. The scrimmage ran four 10 min quarters with a five min half. The Rangers are in for a long year. BH looked good but it’s hard to tell considering the opponent. Sterling needs to do whatever they can to make sure that when realignment happens They get out of 6A.

  49. Which schedule? The game schedule is same as this year just opposite home/away except we play Crosby at Crosby again I think. To everyone moaning and in despair that it's the end of WO-S after this season just remember we still won 9 games and played 14 (which only a handful of teams around here can say), knocked off a 12-0 #1 ranked Jasper, held a State Champion Newton team to 21 points, made it to the State Quarterfinals for the 8th year in a row (the record is a tie with La Marque who did it 9 times 1992-2000 and Converse Judson who did it from 1988-1996) and are set up to be just as good if not better next year. The end of the world is not here just because we didn't make it to a state championship. Cuero beat PG by 12 points and only beat Silsbee by 5. We beat Silsbee by 3 in non-monsoon conditions. It very easily could have been WO-S or Silsbee, or even Jasper there today instead of Cuero. There was no truly dominant team in 4A Division 2 this year. Parity actually makes for more exciting seasons and football in general rather than just having one obvious favorite that runs ragged over everyone.
