Alvarez hasn't hit a home run in 4 games. Probably won't hit one ever again. Hope the Astros can dump him before the trade deadline. Anybody miss somebody?? IYKYK.2 points -

Man, and I always thought that the country profits from wartimes. WWII got us out of the Great Depression. Some of us would not have survived that era.2 points

5-4 win for Houston. Astros have now won 5 straight and 10 of last 11. Have 1 1/2 game division lead. Go for the sweep tomorrow.2 points -

That's 6 consecutive wins and 11 of last 12. It's the first time Houston has been 3 games above .500 since April 4 when they were 6-3. I agree that Pena is the MVP of this series. I really would like to see another arm on the roster but doesn't look like it will happen.1 point -
Peña gets my MVP vote for the series. It’s a tough call, but there it is. Maybe Aggie will have some stats to back my pick.1 point

I don’t agree with the direction of the war. Big oil and many other industries have been exploiting things for decades for mega profit, nothing new. Right or wrong it has positive or negative effects for most citizens. I don’t think anyone on here is OK the loss of military life but none of us can do anything about it.1 point -

I’m aware of: Bridge City ISD, Lumberton ISD, Goose Creek ISD, La Porte ISD, Deer Park ISD. I’m sure there are more. You’d have to search by ISD for those you’re curious about. Some may surprise you as they are smaller districts. It’s not always the big ISD’s. It’s the money issue. Many adopted open enrollment of some fashion after school vouchers passed, and enrollment began dropping for multiple reasons (private schools, immigration policies, home schooling, etc.)1 point -

This just makes gas prices even more than a slap in the face. If we’re the king of oil then why in the heck are we paying ridiculous fuel prices?!!1 point

The stat shown in game about Alvarez having 8 homeruns against the Rangers while only 3 teams have 1 more on the season than he has by himself is outstanding. He is a one-man gang!1 point -

I think as more and more ISD’s lose enrollment, open enrollment of some type will become more of the norm to try to maintain numbers—thus State funding. The individual school ISD’s with open enrollment don’t seem to be the main issue. The issue seems to be the major metropolitan areas like DFW, GHA, and Austin where kids can transfer within the ISD as they choose. It almost makes some schools more like magnet schools. Not just “open enrollment.” For the major metropolitan areas areas, attendance zones would seem to be a good way to help make the mega ISD’s more similar to single/smaller ISD’s. If you change attendance zones, treat it like a move to another ISD. Maybe they do this already. I don’t know.1 point -
Didn’t need Correa either, but here he is. I agree we need pitching.1 point

We don't need Springer. Need another arm or two. Astros are third in the AL in runs scored but are 12th in runs allowed. Pitching is what is needed.1 point -

Houston Strake Jesuit turned in 2974 enrollment for this past realignment. DCTF has them at 2974 and finishing 4th in 21-6A. UIL uses total enrollment of 9-12, not just the male pop. But, SJ had to agree to play 6A in order to participate in UIL. It's just now they have 6A numbers.1 point -

What's even crazier is that if you're only paying your starters $11M you have little to no chance of even contending for a P4 conference championship in this environment. Indiana was the outlier because a bunch of their team transferred from James Madison with the coach and weren't sought-after NIL guys. I love that the players are getting paid now but it's also kind of disappointing that the influx of money has led to the strip-mining of high end talent from the lesser conferences. Never again will you be able to turn on a MAC game on a random Wednesday night in November and watch a Chad Pennington hook up with Randy Moss in the snow or stay up late watching Derek Carr hook up with Devante Adams at Fresno St. in a WAC game.1 point -
