Port Neches-Groves vs. South Oak Cliff Predictions
jayhawk and 3 others reacted to TheMissingBand for a topic
It’s comical to me when places recruit a super team then feel pride despite the fact that they couldn’t win with the talent they had on hand. Especially when you think what would happen if schools like PNG were willing to ignore the rules with all of the resources at their disposal. I’d rather lose with our kids that grew up here than win with some kids who stopped here for part of a season.4 points -

This morning I was watching CNN, as I often do to see the other side.....usually I can only take a few minutes. They were speaking on the boat attack, that CNN went all out on the "kill them all" narrative, from one "anonymous" source, that should of never been seriously reported on, and as most reasonable people assumed, it was not true. So, now they were questioning if the second strike should have occurred, STILL calling it a possible war crime (when I know THEY KNOW, that is not true) - When there is a mission to eliminate a target, if the first shot does not get it, there is always a second shot, no matter who's around. My point of that rant, is if all you watch is CNN and related media, I can see where UT and BG get their opinions......4 points -

Hey! Don’t knock it! 😆 Had chopped steak with baked sweet potatoes last night. Went fancy with a slice of sharp cheddar on the steak, and last of the leftover jellied cranberry sauce. All followed by an excellent cup of black Folgers with 4 Walmart butter cookies. Who remember tuna & gravy on toast? Yep. Meal of champions. 😂😱🤣 Of course, Sunday dinner was always cornbread & milk (cornbread actually in the milk), and mustard/turnip/mixed greens, and pinto beans. No ham. Just beans.3 points -

Let me Comment on the fact that I now have 60 years of going to PNG Football under my belt. I have seen the best, and the worst that the Indian Nation Fans have had to endure, and/or celebrate over these seasons. Regardless, we have always had a solid fan base. Whether we won 1 game, or multiple many win seasons the Indian Football team has had it's fans supporting them 100%. Well all of the Indian Football Fans support them 100%, not all of the PNG Indian Purple Pride Band Fans, I refer to those who leave after halftime, but I digress. There is no reason to doubt that either team in the PNG vs SOC game tomorrow has a chance to win. THAT IS WHY THE GAME IS PLAYED!!! After this game I will be overjoyed to go to the next round in the playoffs, or be just as overjoyed that my Indian Boys had an incredible season. Indian Fans make a commitment to their football boys!!! Everybody come on down from Dallas & pull for 'dem Bears, Everybody come on up from Mid-County & cheer on those Indian Boys. I know I will be there, and all future games I am able until the good Lord calls me home. I-N-D-I-A-N-S Scalp 'em Indians, Scalp 'em!!! PNG HAS A SPECIAL SPIRIT, PASS IT ON!!!3 points

Port Neches-Groves vs. South Oak Cliff Predictions
Boyz N Da Hood and one other reacted to southoakcliffintellectual for a topic
South Oak Cliff shares a 20 mile radius with Duncanville, Desoto, Waxahachie, Carter, Kimball, Roosevelt, Sunset, Adamson, Wilmer Hutchins, Lancaster and Red Oak: 6 playoff teams and 3 national contenders. So that whole "super team" thing sounds like tears. Sure, a program's success can serve as a recruitment tool, but anyone in the know will tell you SOC lends out more talent than they get. Duncanville's last 5 star lived in SOC's community. As well as a ton of Desoto's starters. SOC sent more players to the NFL than any other high school long before they sniffed a State Title appearance. The community has ALWAYS been overflowing with talent. SOC's problem has always been inadequate coaching and facilities. Now that they've caught up in those areas, folk are whining about the talent that has always been there. PNG does well to compete wuth the like of SOC, just like any community. Be humble and enjoy the experience2 points -

I’m thrilled for this game. Think how many teams wait generations to be in a game like this. Always be faithful.2 points -
Yes, this is true, staying focused, and limiting mistakes will be key for us to win. Their QB has been able to do whatever he wanted throwing the ball and running for yardage. I don't know seems like they like to run on the right-side line to pick up long runs and score. We just need to be ready for tick plays as well. Go Mustangs!2 points

Some Get Pardoned, Some Get Killed
thetragichippy and one other reacted to OlDawg for a topic
A lot more going on here than just pardons for drug traffickers. The U.S. has neglected Central & South America for a long time. Under the Reagan Administration, the U.S. paid special attention to the region, and helped bolster democracies. Interesting that a Democratic Congress that constantly harassed Reagan politically, and tried to sabotage him at every opportunity, almost allowed Communism to flourish in Central/South America all those decades ago for simple political gain at home. Since Reagan, it's been kind of a back-burner issue, and issues have grown to a point where they HAVE to be addressed for REAL National Security purposes. What has happened since? Nicaragua--where we helped the Contras battle the Sandinistas/Communists and establish a democracy--is now a full blown dictatorship under Ortega. In 40 years, he moved the country from a birthing democracy to autocratic rule with help from who? The Sandinistas. Honduras--recent election barely beat back the Marxist/Communist party. Trump succeeded in helping keep the communist party at bay for now. But, he may have opened a can of worms by basically presenting the Executive Branch as above the legal system with his pardon of JOH. Venezuela--no explanation required. Panama/Costa Rica--Still somewhat stable. But, China is exerting a great deal of influence in Panama, and CR--as the historically most stable democracy in Central America--is under economic duress. El Salvador--Recently (July '25) rescinded Presidential term limits. Generally, a first step towards an Autocratic government. These are just a few of the issues. China and Russia are focusing on, and making diplomatic and economic inroads in the region. The Panama Canal is basically being operated by Hutchison Holding (controlled by the CCP), and Panama has joined the Belt & Road Initiative. At any one time, three or four countries in the region flip between Marxism/Communism, Autocracies, or corrupted Democracies. Lately, through neglect by the U.S., the liberal Marxists have taken a real, tangible foothold in the entire region economically, and politically. Russia and China both have military presences in the region now. It appears the Trump Administration has recognized the issues, and is trying to address again. Thus, the pardon. Debatable if it was a good move or not. That's up to smarter people than me and history. But, it appears to have been a way to curb Honduras from becoming another Marxist regime at least temporarily. Sometimes, there aren't any 'good choices.' There's just bad, and worse. That's what happens with neglect and appeasement. As it was when I was more directly involved, if we aren't careful, Mexico will be the only thing standing between us and a Communist China/Russia satellite region called Central America. As I said in the beginning of this post, there's a lot more going on here than drug traffickers.2 points -

True. But, you also don't have to have a POTUS bragging, showing videos that don't need to be shown, and warning the target that clandestine operators are coming. Kind of defeats the purpose of clandestine operators. His big mouth and bravado puts their lives in danger more than necessary. Handle first. Talk about it after folks are out of harm's way as much as possible.1 point -

The PN-G fan base holds the #1 record for attendance at a single game in the United States, at 49,953. Since championship games are multi-game formats now, that record we hold will never be broken. Times have changed since streaming didn't exist back then in the late 70's. And smart phones, computers, and just a different generation. Even when we packed out the entire side of the Astrodome in 1999, the total crowd was only 39, 000. (30,000 PN-G fans and 9,000 Stephenville). Our crowd with SOC in Cowboys Stadium in 2022 was only 32,000 as reported. PN-G's fan base is still top 5 easy. We are also involved in the #1 rivalry game in America too. (Nederland in our district), according to Sports Illustrated. I always thought PN-G owned Friday Night Lights, based on some of these numbers above, as well as the history of state championships to back it up. I think the glory years of 1974-1977 that includes a state championship in 1975, a state finalist in 1977 and two semi-finalists in 1974 and 1976, is about to be broken with a new dynasty forming. 2022: 13-3 State Finalist 2023: 15-1 State Champions 2024; 12-2 State Quarter-Finalist 2025: 13-0 so far...1 point -
