Some Big games for Week 9
pakronos and 2 others reacted to Big Daddy Cool for a topic
No doubt Atascocita has found itself on the ropes and knocked down on a few occasions. North Shore stumbled out of the gate leading many to think the long awaited downfall had come. But since that loss the Mustangs have bounced back in to form and steam rolled the competition. This rivalry is more than just Atascocita and North, but North Shore and Craig Stump going back to his time at West Brook..3 points -

It's all Abt the running game. If silsbee can't stop w.o run game w.o wins. If they do stop it.silsbee will win!! W.o has to be able to run bcz, it takes coaching out the equation.bcz, the tigers are the better coached team.2 points

I think whoever is 3rd in District 11 has the toughest playoff path in all of Texas. Potentially the path would be A&M Consolidated at their place round 1. Then PAM would be a fun round 2. After that you most likely will be rewarded with La Porte. 4th round Angleton awaits lol. Then defending champ Smithson Valley. After all of that, you made it to state playing Aledo/Frisco Lone Star/Highland Park. Legitimately I dont think anyone outside of the top 10 in 6A could go 6-0 with that schedule.1 point -
Most of Texas’ yardage came via returns. Establishing a run game would help Arch, and I know I have been rough on him, but some of his receivers were so wide open, I could have thrown the pass. Yards between the 20s and time of possession are almost useless stats if they don’t produce points. Kentucky gambled and lost. End of story.1 point

Two observations. Texas is just awful offensively. It’s more OL than Arch (which if you know football at all, is obvious. Arch certainly has been bad but he’s never had a chance to pick up any momentum either. They finish 8-4 maybe 7-5 possibly. 9-3 ceiling and 6-6 basement. They could easily lose to Miss St next week, likely lose to Vandy, definitely lose to UGA on road, almost certainly beat Arkansas, and will probably beat A&M imo. A&M should win on Saturday because I’m probably going to Lake Charles and bet on LSU at +2.5 or maybe +3 depending on price (going so I can bet on Dallas Mavs over 41.5 wins - one of my favorite futures in a long, long time). Oh and Texas wins the SEC and goes undefeated in the SEC last year if Mason Shipley had been their kicker.1 point

West Orange Stark vs Silsbee
BADSANTA reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
The strength of Silsbee's defense this year has been their ability to stop the run. The secondary counts on the defensive front to get pressure on the QB to help them in pass coverage. Silsbee secondary has been the weak point of the defense. Also, Silsbee's grind it out, ball control offense helps the Tiger defense as well by limiting the opponents offensive possessions. Silsbee's run game has been very good of late which helps the play action. Silsbee offensively is getting better each week.1 point -
Silsbee and WOS have pretty much always had the same talent..coaching is usually lopsided between the 2…as it is now. I agree with DJ if WOS can run the ball they can win, don’t leave it up to having to out coach Smith!1 point

Playoff scenarios

If Lufkin beats PAM and then both win out, then they would be tied with just one loss. Lufkin would be #1 seed based on their head to head win over PAM.1 point -
Playoff scenarios
prepballfan reacted to pakronos for a topic
PAM is the only 9-5A team that has clinched a spot winning 4 straight district games. Everyone else has lost ateast 1 game. Lufkin is the lone team with one L, hoping that changes next week to 2 L’s. PAM vs Lufkin is for the championship for PAM. A Lufkin win puts us in a tie, with PAM owning the tie breaker assuming they win out. They get the tie breaker because they beat barbers hill and Lufkin lost to them and we hold the point spread. I think I’m right.1 point -

Beaumont West Brook (18) @ Port Arthur Memorial (41) - FINAL
KF89 reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
Titan defense only gave up 7 points last night. Other 11 points came on kickoff return and two safeties. West Brook had less than 200 yards of offense. QB only completed 5 passes the entire game (well 8 if you count the 3 picks). Memorial defense is an elite defense to say the least. Titan offense will need to have a better passing attack if they want to make a deep playoff run. Some of the passes were drops, but both the QB and WR's will need to step up in the passing game to really make this offense a major threat. Run game is very good (particularly the QB). Oline is solid but WB is pretty light on the defensive side of the ball and not very physical. Titans took advantage of that aspect. Really like this Memorial team. That defense will carry them a long ways.1 point -
My once a year post. Last year I pretty Much laid it out how it ended. Trap game and PNG was super flat. I do think without that win last year, Nederland would not be super happy with their coach. IMO it has given them hope, other than last year’s win, Nederland doesn’t have much to be positive about. This year’s take is the same, but different. Trap game? 100%, but Joesph will have us ready to play this year. I do not predict a blow out, but I do not see Nederland winning this game. They will throw the kitchen sink at us, but in the end, little brother will remain little brother. I’ll take PNG. Closer game than most will predict. In the end, without uncle Larry, Nederland is the old Nederland. The rah rahs will say Nederland is better than they have played. Truth is, maybe, but Nederland fans have always lived on the Uncle Larry era. And that’s simply over. PNG for the win.. But on a positive for the Pups, at least you will get some state wide attention this week because of the rivalry aspect. You heard it here first. And if any have taken this post as negative, I do have a peace offering. We have a trophy case across the tracks if any of you would like to come see what relevance looks like!!! PNG….. Enough said……..1 point

If Nederland had any type of defense I think it would be close but they don’t, so I am going to say PNG around 42 Nederland 71 point

grayhair777 reacted to 1970 for a topic
If PNG wins, it's just meh; if they lose it's a slap in the face. Ned has nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Expect offensive trickery, defensive stunts, and never give up attitude. A fumble here, an interception there, a blocked punt, a bad (or good) penalty call or two, and you never know. Like 2 brothers, (or 2 sisters), 1 year apart in age, in a fight. You never know. Otherwise, if it was any other game, PNG wins easily.1 point -

The state of Bulldog football is worse than what it was under last leadership…1 point -
If you’re asking me, the Teacher’s Unions & Randi Weingarten politicized the CDC worse than any one. They saw to it that all credibility was lost. When CDC never corrected the 6 foot rule, and let the Teacher’s Unions dictate policy, it became a disaster. I seem to remember Trump & DeVos actually saying they would withhold funding from schools that didn’t reopen. But, Weingarten and her TDS ilk in the other unions threw a hissy fit, and that was that. So, basically liberal idiots that cared nothing about kids used politics to destroy a lot of people’s faith in our scientific organizations, and the CDC nor AAP corrected them, even though they both recommended 3 feet & reopening schools.1 point
