Dave Tepper with Texas Football Magazine reporting "Former Galena Park North Shore offensive coordinator Andrew Cameron suspended three years, head coach Willie Gaston suspended for two district games by UIL for recruiting infractions. The UIL Executive Committee did not punish the North Shore program, instead focusing it's judgement on Cameron, who admitted at Wed. hearing to recruiting players from area schools. Gaston, whom the committee ruled was responsible for the program as a whole but did not participate in the violations."

  8. Dayton could NOT have made a better hire. This could quite possibly take Dayton back to where they were with Stewart, a perennial playoff team with the potential to make a run. Very impressive after the last few "buddy" hires.

I wouldn't call him smooth in QB terms but he is a great athlete which is why Coach P will probably switch him to RB like he did with Reggie Branch at Crosby after he played QB for a couple of years. It may be a blessing in disguise for him since he was probably going to be recruited as an "athlete" versus a QB anyway. He may still transfer if his feelings are hurt and he's dead set on playing QB like a couple of transfers we lost from the '27 class were I think he'll probably end up liking whatever role Coach P carves our for him in the offense. Coach P and Coach Poth(DC) get kids to college.

  10. Lots of staffs at winning programs have "talent acquisition" guys, it's an open topic in south Dallas county. North Shore is about to take the reprimand for the whole east side when they get less kids than CE King and lower profile transfers than Summer Creek. I think the UIL does the least they can to NS so they don't start going down a slippery slope around the rest of the state because I can 100% guarantee you Coach Cam is far from the only one that has sent sketchy DM's to kids.

  11. He’s also bringing the DC which is his most important assistant since Prieto calls the plays. The OC at Crosby under Prieto is most likely coming too. Most important pickup will be Prieto Jr. Held his own this year in his playoff start as a freshman and should end up a high 3⭐️ recruit at minimum. Dayton has their Jerry Stewart and fell into Cody Green-lite. Congrats Bronco fans, looking forward to the opener.

  14. Well! We'd be more than happy to have Washington move up to 5A and BU can play them to their hearts content! And while they're at it HISD could combine Yates, Wheatley and Furr into one fair sized 6A school! 21-4A is too big anyway.

  18. Dude, North Shore just came and got our star '27 receiver. When Coach P was at Crosby he pulled up in Barrett Station one time because he thought/heard a North Shore coach was trying to acquire his kids during some training sessions. So a head coach with zero connections to the area was already concerned about his kids being poached by North Shore. Furthermore, at the area track meet in BH last year I was offered a "way" for both of my high school sons to come to North Shore. Again, you can parse the words whichever way you please but the UIL just agreed with my point of view so it seems you're the one making baseless statements even though you "know what's going on behind the scenes".

  19. Solid team…..one real deal player is not gonna beat BU. If seven lakes big can’t shoot from outside nor handle that means BU s big plays more minutes (advantage BU) I give this to United to much championship blood there. Plus I think the way the WB game ended just woke them up.

  20. Congrats to both United and Westbrook for a hard fought game. I predicted it would be a battle. Sadly only one will advance to the next round. Familiar territory for United for the fourth consecutive year. Like United or not the program is solid and well coached. Hopefully 409 will support United as they thrive to return to San Antonio. Lastly thanks to one of the G.O.A.T. in Texas Coach Andre Boutte thanks for the memories.

  21. I disagree with this wording. That implies the horns sort of gave up. The truth of the matter is they had 5 players, no bench help at all imo, appeared to give it everything they had, but silsbee made more plays, especially Harris at the end and Elam throughout. With no bench or true post, defeating the Tigers isn’t going to happen. It was a fun game and great effort but I wouldn’t imply that those 5 nor the staff “communally agreed” to give up. Harris just took over, which is what one would expect a Memphis commit to do in such settings.

  22. I was going to say Foster would make a great RB or WR. I see him being switched to one of those 2 positions. From what I saw last year he is more of a runner than a passer so the transition to one of the other positions should be a good thing for him and the team all together.

  23. You could write a book on the things our federal government has no knowledge of but still wants to govern them. Agriculture, energy, education, environment, housing and development…just a short list but departments that should all be abolished, in a perfect world anyway.

  25. That's an understatement. Knowing what that team has gone through and what talent he has (or lack thereof), this could be one of his best coaching seasons of his career. I certainly didn't have them to be 4 points from a regional tourney appearance.

  26. This win sends Silsbee to their 16th regional tournament in last 20 seasons. Only 4 times in that span that Silsbee didn't make regional tourney was 2006, 2011, 2013 and 2014. This is their 10th consecutive regional tournament. ('15, '16, '17, '18. '19, '20, '21, '22, '23, '24) A win vs. Wheatley Friday will put the Tigers playing in their 14th regional final in the past 20 seasons. Been a pretty descent two decades for Silsbee.

  31. That had a little, but obviously not everything, to do with Silsbee not playing their best. Horns scrapped down low and caused some turnovers with hustle. Nothing for HF to hang their heads about, and a nice tester to wake Silsbee up moving on in the playoffs. It’s been awhile since they’ve been challenged. Good luck to the tigers moving on!

  33. They just have way too much firepower. One of their kids I know well is junior Elijah Sherwood. Really good kid. You could argue he’s the third best player on that team. He would also probably be the best wing in the history of Orangefield basketball. We would need to shoot the ball as well as we possibly could shoot it even be in the game. Still a great season for the Bobcats, record setting season in wins and record tying season in playoff wins. Future is very bright.

  37. Impressive run Orangefield has been on, they have been rolling for a while with multiple playoff runs. Shout out to that community & administration for making ALL the sports a priority. It wasnt that long ago basketball was an afterthought. I feel like Orangefield has one of the better small school athletic programs around.

  38. Yeah, I know all about it. I can show you several pictures where she took my son on recruiting visits this fall while I was on T/A. My classmate/teammate is the assistant AD at North Shore so I'm pretty familiar with the talent acquisition process. All my cousins played for Aymond, North Shore was "acquiring" kids from Forrest Brook, Smiley and CE King way back when Corey Redding and Andre Gurode were on the team in the late '90's when NS first got good. I saw the DM, so we can debate the semantics of the word "sketchy" but the UIL doesn't investigate things that are above board or at least appear to be. That being said, I don't think anything should happen to Coach Cam or NS other than a "Don't do it again" slap on the wrist. I was at a 7 on 7 tournament in Dallas a couple years ago watching one of my buddy's kids and one of the parents showed us a DM from a coach offering to help her get a car so she could more easily bring her son to a certain school. If the UIL isn't going to take active measure to police it all then North Shore shouldn't be singled out but if I was a coach on another staff and saw that DM I would probably make the same assumptions he did, you would too since any coach is going to automatically assume the worst.

  42. I saw some of his highlights if he was the varsity QB last year? Crosby had a stud ‘27 QB that transferred to BH because of little Jerry. He’ll be the QB and Dayton will be better for it. It’ll be his 4th year in the system while the other kid won’t even know where to line kids up. I’m a tough critic of coaches playing their sons but little Prieto is legit and then some.
