  3. This will be our official realignment thread. Post all the realignment talk here. At 9am the UIL will release the classifications, divisions and districts. Post all this info here. Here is the UIL Realignment link: [Hidden Content] After the districts are revealed, we will post what districts we will be covering here on the site for the next two years.

  4. Very very few. Usually it's just one school that appeals their district alignment. In this case, the whole district should appeal it's regional alignment.

  5. I wonder if the schools in the district will appeal. They do have a window to appeal to UIL. I agree, this seems egregious.

I thought the only way for PN-g to make it to state was to lose the first game to PAM.

  21. Doubt we get Consol or CS, since they're in a 9-team district. More likely we get a 6A opponent for week 4.

Because they plan ahead. Stupid if you don’t. You look at projected districts and have plans in place for 2,3 or 4 non district games.

One domino fell..... From Greg Riddle: BREAKING: After winning back-to-back state titles, DeSoto submits appeal to UIL to remain in 6A. DeSoto could have chosen to play in 5A Division I, where its shrinking enrollment put it. [Hidden Content]

  41. I miss those years where it was HJ/Silsbee fighting it out for district every year and then competing to make it to state. HJ has obviously dropped off some in the last 10 years or so, and Silsbee has gotten even better, but the whole landscape of 4A basketball is skewed due to all the houston teams in our region, combined with having to face the dallas teams if you make it to state.

  43. The list of things that can change between JH and HS is vast. It's more likely than not that JH success won't be the same in HS. 1st and foremost.. 7th grade kids playing against everyone else's 7th grade kids and 8th grade kids playing against everyone else's 8th grade kids is not evenly remotely the same as 9-12th against 9-12th. A grade level of kids playing with either the grade above them or below them.. or both can dramatically change the success/failure compared to when it was just them. Not only do kids mature, gain strength, gain speed, gain size, and gain skill (both physically and mentally) at completely different levels and pace individually, but kids actually WORK and/or gain/lose interest completely different. Forget about the other obvious variables.. like: academic eligibility, transferring (both losing and gaining kids), quitting, reclassification, coaching change, etc. etc. etc. The situation for a Senior IS NOT THE SAME as that same kid's situation was when they were a 7th grader. To think so is idiotic. It's truly funny to me to hear people make predictions based on what happened in JH... might as well add little league as a predictor lol.

  46. True statements, but Nederland aren't really missing any kids that can truly help, maybe two or three that won't make a huge difference in outcomes of the game. There may be some Dads in here who kids aren't playing that feel a type of way, but the talent pool just isn't there. They're some Basketball players that could help right away, but they only play Basketball, which I hear is encouraged by the Head BB Coach! The AD will have to change that and emphasize to ALL coaches that he wants his athletic program having multi-sport athletes as a requirement. Something Barrow didn't really harp on. I do believe a 180 degree change in culture, and getting out of the prehistoric ways of athletics is concerned can/will change things. But it will take about 4-5 years or maybe longer for a long run in the playoffs.

  47. What specifically am I wrong about!? Go check them out at camp fun, or walk the hallways during transition an tell me I'm wrong. Some people have no clue on what it takes to win at the level PNG is winning right now. Can Nederland improve from how awful they've been the last few years? Yes, but they WILL NOT make deep runs in the playoffs with the kids they have up front!! Smh, people acting like Nederland is a coach away from going to State haha what a joke. Until Nederland emphasize kids to be multi sport athletes, Skill positions running Track and Lineman participating in Powerlifting as well as get some quality Big kids moving in to the school instead of kids who can't speak English then they will have a HUGE hurdle/hurdles to get over.
