I think the YMBL had a better field than the LaGrange La. tourney United played in last week. I get what you are saying. I think United "could" play a more tougher schedule and be just fine. But playing a couple of local teams, including Silsbee, doesn't hurt their program. As long as Green and Sigler are coaching those two teams, they will always play each other. That's a fact.

Just a thought here and I understand there might be some controversy around this. I think Crosby's implosion and PNG's ascension should teach us a couple very important lessons. 1) We overvalue the effect of athletes (bo's and joes) on the success of a program and undervalue the effect of coaching. 2) Great coaches will get the enrollment involved and working. At the end of the day the single most important thing for late playoff success is depth and coaching. Yes losing a great QB/RB/WR/LB can end a season early but if you don't have depth at all the "not superstar" positions and if the backups aren't just as willing, able and wanting to play as the starters you cannot have success at the highest levels. I think this is true because of a couple of reasons, Winner win. If you are successful and win others want to be a part of that, from that 6'8 300 lbs kid that's never touched a football to that 5'6 kid who will run through a wall to get his chance. They all are important and they all need to feel like part of the team. If you win then no one cares about being the backup. If you win people will be happy to just be on the team. If you win you can have 65 athletes on Varsity every single year. Even a team without elite athletics' talent can execute plays at a high level if they are well coached. Practice times, culture of work, and accountability set the standards for developing 14 year old's into athletic 17 years old's. That being said great coaches can overcome program deficiencies that previously existed. Crosby and PNG prove this. PNG has no more talent now than it has for the last decade. Crosby has no less talent than it has for the last decade. It's about how that talent is coached, brought through the system, and executes daily. My ramblings.

Playing the #1 ranked 6A team to 10 points will help prepare the Tigers for that tough district play.

I know he’s not the star of that team but I really really like watching #15 play for the tigers I believe his name is Botley man that kid plays with high energy and is the driving force for that team

I'm only here until my flight leaves for St. Lucia tomorrow. As pitiful as this season was I figured I might as well spend a week taking it out on some Wahoo and hitting some golf balls in the ocean. My old lady is from Oak Cliff and her nephew plays for Duncanville so I've been getting the treatment at the house all bleeping year, smh.

Excellent points. Been hearing similar logic on a weekly basis. It has not helped any opponent so far. Gilmer has been ran off the field in multiple games and the defense is giving up 37 points per game in the playoffs. Gilmer is going to face Bellville on Friday just like the rest of the teams who “played a tougher schedule”.

From what I've gathered, you're the only one thinking too much about this. You got happy by beating a bunch of 9th and 10th graders. This same group (including the now-freshmen) was dominant at the middle school level. The bigger question should've been: how can a group of 9th and 10th graders be on the cusp of making the playoffs last year? Or how can that same group knock off a top-10-ranked team (EC) at home? There is nothing to think about. Let me know if you need me to proofread that letter for you.

I also wanna add that absolutely nothing is gonna happen regarding to the so called “Complaints”

I have had several discussions with local coaches and to a man, nobody thinks it really helps one team over another. Me personally, I think it helps the aggressive defensive team because after each quarter, the foul count is reset to zero. A team can foul more than 5 times in first quarter but not have to worry about their opponent going to the line the remainder of the half. It's got it's pros and cons. I know it takes some getting used to even with the game officials. Heck I have had to correct a couple officials in a couple of games this season. So far this season I have yet to see a game be decided by the new foul format and I have seen over 60 games so far this season.

It’s not real strange to go from a play in game last year to 1st this year. They didn’t graduate anybody from a team the best EC in EC. Orangefield and Buna were both loaded with Seniors. It will be interesting to see how the Orangefield and Kountze games go this year without a team full of seniors against a bunch of 10th graders. But let this “open enrollment” excuse start early. All guidelines looked to have been met seeing how the transfer keeping people awake played football this season.

Not tournaments. Atascocita played Dallas Carter in single game. Was the Hoopsgiving but the opponent was agreed upon. Also, Carter and FF have played "scheduled" games with 6A teams in Dallas area. Not tournaments.

Go back and watch the games that are on Texanslive. Green, Dotson, & Williams were starting. Davis was coming off the bench until Williams went out.

Need to check some of those 6A teams up North. A few have played 4A Dallas Carter and 4A Faith Family. Even Atascocita has played a 4A this year.

He’s done that before. Kid has started on 2 state champion teams, 1 state finalist team. Dotson is definitely like that.
