Got an out of the ordinary call Wednesday night, an old naval friend settled in Brenham and haven’t seen him in 10 plus years!!! His son is on the football team so we are going to eat at Judice’s on Nederland Ave then heading to the game together, still rooting for PNG but man this excites me.

Orangefield folks wanting a coaching change is down right hilarious. Also wanting an offensive philosophy change is pretty funny too. Smalley has done amazingly at Orangefield. It would be the Bobcats loss not gain if he decided to leave.

Sometimes the other team is just better… regardless of what the offensive scheme is.

IMO, some Silsbee players talk too much. But, from what I have seen the last few games it seems it's part of the other teams game plan to get Silsbee to talk too much. Bottom line, Silsbee is good enough to let their play talk for itself and this other stuff is completely unnecessary. I get having your teammates back but do it smartly. The rep has been established and the opponent will try to exploit it to their advantage.

You can’t focus on doing your job if you’re jawing at the guy across from you. Lack of discipline is gonna sink this ship.

Miles Robison is a very good coach that probably doesn't get the respect that he deserves, because of the location of his school. Year in and year out his teams play hard-nosed consistent ball and he/his staff get the most out of what they have to work with in each particular season. Keep on keepin' on Coach!

Are we talking about the kid from bc a couple of weeks ago? Seriously, though… it’s the Silsbee parents fighting each other in the stands, Silsbee players going after each other in their loss to Cuero last year. “These boys are like family… they’ve lost teammates … they’re protective of each other… other teams pick on them because they’re so good… the other team did it first… are you sure the other team wasn’t using slurs? The kid hurt himself flying over the bench…. It was a freak accident.” These are just the excuses I’ve heard from Silsbee fans on these boards this year. It’s nothing new, and it’s one of the big reasons…. Scratch that, the biggest reason doesn’t have any football hardware in the trophy case. You can get away with it in basketball, but the penalties in football are just too harsh to overcome.

Stayed home for this and listened to it. It gave me flashbacks of the 04' playoff game against Westfield. It also gave me flashbacks of the infamous "Mud Bowl" game years ago against Port Arthur. Thankfully the guys were able to keep grinding and turn things around.

Didnt Ofield win the district last year? Lets be honest here its not like Orangefield has been power in football. Coach Smalley seems to do a good job with the program, and the other programs have really flourished under his leadership. Sounds like there may be some delusional bobcat fans.

You really dont understand the Slot T. The only position where the Slot T benefits from a large OL is Strong Tackle. The rest of the positions rely on quickness and precision. There is no "pass blocking" with 8 in the box. Pass pro in the Slot T relys upon deception. I will be willing to bet the 1 dimensional offense works well for Franklin, Liberty Hill and Bellville tonight. Shepherds' version looked pretty good last night. OF had no chance from the start against Woodville. OF was completely out-manned.

I’ve said before and will continue saying.. anytime a 4 beats a 1, sending 4 teams to the playoffs is justified.

Other than the 4 schedules I am still missing, the other 80 schedules have been posted in the schedule sub forum above the basketball forum. They are posted by districts. I will be posting a weekly schedule each week which will be pinned at the top of this forum. Game threads will be posted as well. Some will be consolidated like todays and tomorrows. As the season progresses and we get into district play, there will be more individual game threads posted. Again, anyone that has access to the 8 schedules I am missing, please post here or email them to me.

Apparently you don't get out much. The did play Longview this year who is as run dominate a team as they come. Not to mention a heavy run team in Lufkin and Forney. I do not think LP will throw anything that they have not seen. LP will have to throw the ball to mix it up. Offensively, Lancaster is talented and have playmakers. Lancaster is an athletic team and have a few D1 commits. They have played some tough team non district ie Guyer and SOC. Should be a good game.

I probably should cut my answers down. 🤣 What is a CPF? It is where a guy pleaded guilty to the judge and was given a fine. The judge gave him so many days to pay it but he didn’t. The next warrant, the CPF, means that he has already had his day in court and will now stay in jail until it is paid or he has served enough time.

Good grief. Whether Josh stays or leaves, I wish him the best. He has done a TON for OF in his short tenure, not the least being his job as AD. He has made several “home run” hires and has taken his job as overseer of ALL sports seriously. As for the game, when you fall several scores behind, it is tough to navigate your way back with the slot T. Same could be said for the wishbone in the old days. It’s an offense built for keeping possession of the ball, shortening games, etc. It’s still going to be better suited for the type of kid OF generally gets. The Bobcats are simply not going to have superior athletes once you get to the playoffs (a round or two in especially) most of the time. It is what it is. One game that gets out of hand and all of sudden it’s the coaches, the system, etc. Maybe junior just got punched in the mouth and got his tail kicked?

Yeah Lamar never lead this game and at it was 67-48. with 7:36 to play. I wish the program all the luck in the world but I am still disappointed the way Tic Price was treated. As I posted below Tic is back in administration with the Southland Conference. I believe to be successful again Lamar will need to take a new approach to hiring the next head coach. 12-50 record since Alvin came on.
