  1. more like ignorant coaches. kids today are soft, no argument there, but putting them in the hospital isn't how you fix it. if a coach makes kids do work that they physically are incapable of doing and badly hurts them, that's on the coach, not the kid or parent. it's the coach's responsibility to build up the child's ability to do the work. Of course, these coaches seem to understand that concept just fine until they're mad and want to punish the kids for something. That was the case here, and also at Hamshire-Fannett a few years ago. The coaches get pissed, and then all of a sudden they forget that it's their responsibility to keep their athletes safe. Work them to the point of hospitalization, then play dumb and act like they didn't do anything wrong. Your reference to North Shore doesn't really work, because North Shore isn't putting their players in the hospital. If they did, there would be plenty of complaints. That said, it's not an issue. while those coaches work their players very hard, they do it responsibly, unlike the coach here from Rockwall Heath.

  2. Year 2 will be very interesting. 2 things have to happen. Kids have to be learning the system. System has to be learning the kids. Coaches had their rookie learning curve. Now they know what didn't work. Should be easy.

  3. Had enough return last year to make a difference and as we all know it didn’t!Returning players are irrelevant unless scheme changes imo, hopefully something changes.

  6. After 51 straight years of attending the boys basketball state tournament, my streak will end this season as I will not be attending this year. My goal since I started going was to attend as many as my dad did who started taking me when I was 8 years old in 1972. My dad ended up attending 50 straight, his last time going in 2007. I made 51 straight last season. My priorities have changed over the years and my interest has waned some the last couple of years. Got grand sons to run around with now (T-ball, soccer, etc.) along with hanging out at the beach. With the wife and I retired now, just got other things I want to do. Actually I'll be hitting the new Horseshoe casino next week. I enjoyed each and every trip to the state tourney. Great memories with my dad and got to see some great basketball. I have been truly blessed. I may attend another state tourney (particularly if Silsbee goes) but the streak had to end sometime. Will miss hanging out with coaches, officials, media and fans that attended on a regular basis. Good luck To Beaumont United next week. Bring home that 3rd state championship.

  7. Lamar beats A&M Corpus 65-53 to advance to finals of Southland Tournament. They will play Southeastern for the right to go dancing...Lamar already beat Southeastern twice this year so they always say hard to beat a team three times.

Gonna be some growing pains for LCM this year. Someone close to the program told me that most of their talent comes from the freshman and sophomore groups. They also said there are zero juniors on the team, which blew my mind.

  15. Will do. I don't play slots so Delta does nothing for me. I play in the poker rooms. I've been hearing good things about the room at the Shoe. I know several of the dealers who were dealers at the Isle but now are at the Shoe. Nugget poker room has kind of been down a bit.

  17. Women's basketball beats McNeese 80-75 in OT to move to semifinal game in Southland Tournament against A&M Corpus. Lamar perfectly capable of beating any of the teams. Problem this year has been inconsistency not only from game to game but also within games. Today had a 10 point lead in 4th quarter only to lose the lead and have to go to overtime to pull out the victory.

    Vidor is open !!

It's funny how in this world, you really can't have a opinion. Matthews did a hell of a job, and changed many kids lives for the better. In the eyes of every fans you are judged on the what have you done lately rule. Let's be honest with coaches from High School to Pros, you must win, you are judged by that. I feel if Matthews schemed a passing game into his playbook, his teams would have been difficult to beat over the years. However my hat is off to this guy on a great job. I enjoyed the games my sons played against him. Wish you much success coach.

  31. That is because they are basing it on the UIL bracket that puts Region 1 v 2 and 3 v 4 while this is the case in football. Basketball doesn’t work that way. Same thing happened last year and I had to explain it just like I’m doing now
