[Hidden Content] 1973. I read about it a while back and the story is that a black man responded to an "apartment for rent" sign. He was told by on-site management that the unit had already been rented, then a white woman inquired about the apartment and was shown the unit as still being available. Upon pressure the on site manager claimed that he was just following orders, but that was something that the Trumps denied at the time. The case was settled with the Trumps agreeing to publish ads welcoming black applicants and to also Familiarize themselves with the Fair Housing Act.... the Trumps didn't admit guilt either. It's important to remember a couple of important facts.... first, the Fair Housing Act (1968) had only been in effect for four years when the incident occurred... an incident in which Trump was not accused of having any direct involvement, and for which he denied any knowledge of. Imagine that in 1972, somebody walked into a Hilton Hotel and was denied service, presumably because of their race... then in 2023 people are pointing at the 1972 episode as "proof" that Paris Hilton is a racist, even though most of us are pretty sure she bangs black dudes.

While I agree Pete is the man. Every Batman needs a Robin. Ghost is a lethal shooter and very cerebral player for just a freshman. If they can figure out how to work as a duo this team could do some damage.

I think that people are assuming that any school just has the ability/budget to hire whoever they want. Just how big do you think the applicants list is at schools with bad traditions? It's not a coincidence that you don't see the Surratts of the coaching world applying to coach at schools that don't have a tradition of winning... and schools can only hire a person that's applied.

No longer active but Roy Harper won two state titles at Burkeville. He did this when there were very few black coaches. I think he was inducted in the black coaches hall of fame.

I went ahead and signed up. Watched a good bit of the HJ - Lumberton girls game.

They didn’t win a game the entire season last year. They didn’t win the year before that. The program has a rich history and what a great deal to have someone like Robertson getting involved. With that said, the program needs to see signs of life this year or perhaps it’s time to bring in a fresh perspective and a new skipper to lead these young men. They are the only Orange County public school to not have a competitive team. Too proud a program for that, and they have been down long enough.

Why is it, then, that only certain coaches have these multiple factors and this luck and timing? With these coaches at Aledo and Carthage, how many Titles have they won? I can maybe understanding 1 or 2 years of luck but these guys doing it for this long?! The ones I really feel sorry for are the coaches that came before them. ESPECIALLY the ones that actually preceded them taking over. If they would have just stayed a few more years then they could have had all this luck. Is this what you are sorta telling us? BTW, I had ask if there was any difference between the Nederland coach and the Carthage or Aledo coach. You didn't comment. Or did you actually answer by insinuating that the only difference between them is multiple factors and timing? Curious what your thoughts are?!
