I think everyone would agree Joubert is a good coach. Yet from 2014 through 2017, Whitmire had a winning record against Kountze and that was during the Arnold, Harper, Stanford era when Kountze basketball was at a really good place (not the apex of Lion basketball but certainly toward the top). So I would, in fact, argue Whitmire did more with less. And that is no slight on Wilson. He was also a really good hire. But to try and downplay what Whitmire did at Buna shows either sour grapes or an extreme lack of knowledge of the game of basketball (or both).

Dean is a JR. I didn't realize (forgot really) the feed cut out for this part of the game Tuesday night till today, but in case you didn't see it.

I do believe a lot of this is like the WWE. They yell, scream and throw tantrums then go behind the screen pour a glass of whiskey and laugh at the rest of us.

As you stated, Whitmire did more with less. From what I witnessed, he got every ounce out of those with less talent to step their game. I’m sure Buna has won or lost games they should or shouldn’t have. That can be said of all schools. Where does the blame go, the coach. Bottom line: Support your community, your kids, your school, your team, and your coach. As The Beach Boys sang back in 1963, Be True To Your School. Good Luck to all.

Yeah, I finally saw a good video that showed the whole incident. After the parent goes back to the bench is when this situation should've ended but it appears that one of the coaches continues the altercation and the dad comes back down. It still could've been avoided though but the husband rushing in like a bull seeing red was the final nail in the coffin. The guys earlier said he poked the coaches in the face but video evidence clearly shows that wasn't the case. He points his finger twice and the 2nd time he does it is right after the coach herself did it to him. Still not defending his actions but it isn't as one sided as it has been made out to be. I think the coaches husband should be banned as well, I get the whole defending your spouse thing but doing so the way he did escalated things to the point it endangered innocent bystanders.

Both of these guys can coach. I watched Brian take a Buna club to the playoffs against Woodville over at Kountze and beat a Woodville club that he probably shouldn’t have . Coach Wilson stepped in behind the scenes over at HJ when Coach Davis family was dealing with some very serious health issues and did an outstanding job. Buna has had the misfortune of being in the district with some good basketball schools over the years and this year there will be one pretty good club on the outside of the playoffs looking in. Best of luck to both coaches, they are both good men and better role models.

Whitmire was as good as it gets for program like Buna imo. I know he’s only assistant at woodlands but they are playing some great ball there and getting ready for the playoffs. That man goes every year it seems.

In 2013-14 they weren’t in district together, 14-15 Buna was loaded with Richardson and Edwards leading the way and went 1-2 against Kountze. Not sure of head to head after that but Grayland was gone in 2016. Stanford didn’t have much help and Buna had both Connell boys at that time. Whitmire treated both my boys great. One was all-state and the other was a fouling machine.

It's that college education paying off for me again. That, and I've got an uncanny grasp on the obvious.

I think Daniel Marsh graduated in 08, they were solid that year. They beat Kountze at Hardin and made the playoffs .

Well I had kids in his program for 8 years and wasn’t very impressed with him. You can message me or call and I’ll tell me my reasoning. Im not sure how much Buna basketball you have watched but I feel like we should have had more success then what we did.

Mathews has the entire community brainwashed into thinking that the Slot-T is the only offense that can be ran. Just because it's the only thing he knows how to coach doesn't mean its the only thing the kids can run Just another way of keeping the Viduh/ Lumberton coaching familia together . Not being rude, but you can talk to him all you want. If he tells you any different then what I said he is lying. It was seen and heard by everyone there. As for his daughter missing practice for a week. That was told to me by a very reliable source who is very close to the situation.

Very strange incident to say the least but I'll hold judgment until I hear his side (I know him personally). Definitely out of character for him which is why I'm shocked about this situation.

Somewhat true. The girl that’s dad caused all this was a senior. She was on JV last year and didn’t play very much and had not played very much if any this year. Plus the girl missed a week of practice prior to this game just because she wanted to. PNG had to win that game in order to have a play in game for the playoffs. So the coach was thinking about the team and not about an individual. So sorry somebody’s feeling’s got hurt. It was a very immature incident and nobody has talked about the little girl who got landed on and broke her leg because of this idiot. The dad is banned from anymore PNG sports. Should have charges against him because the video doesn’t show him throwing Fbombs and poking the coach in the forehead. That’s why her husband came out of the stands and confronted the dad.

Will be a tough task but they can still get in. I think running off whitmire was the biggest mistake they could have ever made for that basketball program.

Looking at the Padilla Poll All State 4A teams, Carthage has 15 players on the 1st and 2nd team offense and defense. 15 out of 44 players. If that is a true indication, then Surratt's X's and O's are not what has Carthage winning.
