  4. For a school that moved to get rid of the “chain gang” moniker, it’s surprising that they hired a coach whose name is obviously appropriating Native American culture. They’re about to get a nasty letter from the Cherokee Nation, too.

  5. Well deserved for this young Lady. It has been a pleasure to watch her hard work over the years!

  6. Definitely not angry. Just amazed how it ended up going down. My tax money has paid for all these bonds and upgrades. Only to have candidates blocked by the Superintendent. And then the board doesn't have the backbone to delay the hire. Even though Hickman won't take the job full time until July. I could understand them not listening to me. But when the mayor, who is a former player and assistant, was on the committee and spoke out... board members should have been more willing to wait. Trust the process, don't rush the process. And for the love of blue and silver, don't rig the process

  7. I believe David Satcher is now the DC at Splendora. In 2021, Splendora went 4-6 overall and 0-5 in district. The defense gave up 291 points over 10 games. Not exactly the 1985 Chicago Bears. I'd tap the brakes on the Satcher to PN-G discussion. But, I enjoy reading the comments in this thread, so carry on. Peace. P.S. If you don't like the 2021 season, no worries. Splendora went 4-7 overall and 2-3 in district while giving up 318 points in 11 games.

  8. @Cardinal 1 Your keen eye would have noticed in the second half HJ stayed in a zone. They may have ran it as a matchup zone at times but still a zone. More importantly as a Coach/Professional I am surprised that you continuously call kids out here on that. All coaches know that's a no, no. Even though you're not saying names numbers and the tech everyone knows who you're talking about. Lastly competing with Tekoa at the State level is a lot different than UIL and is not even close. AAU depending what Org a lot of those teams are daddy and mommy ball who coach with dadd/mommy eyes. That does not mean there are not good Mom's and Dad's that coach but many never coach again after their sons or daughters move on.

  10. That explains the third quarter. what about the 4th? I'm sure there's a reason for these players being benched.

  11. I find this real interesting (being sarcastic): The PNG Head Football/AD position is NOT posted on Texas High School Coaches Association web site. That is going to limit the applications... look at WOS... Administration did not post on THSCA and only 13 applicants... IMO they got their guy already.. really no surprise. like I said people already know. PNG nation will be happy with him.. Good Coach with a lot of experience at multiple levels of football.

  12. It seems like these game threads always turn into a discussion as to how HF figured out a way to lose. This one should be about how HJ found a way to win. The Davis’s turned the tide coming out of the locker room for the second half, Clay by making some big time adjustments on the defensive scheme and Clayton by filling it up from DEEP!! That was the spark the Hawks needed and the que for Sears and Melvo to take this game over. The Samaha kid as well as several others gave the Hawks some big time minutes off the bench.

  17. depends on your definition of quality. there are plenty of solid assistant coaches looking for their first gig. there are established coaches looking to come back to this area, etc. But "quality" coaches in good situations aren't going to be lining up to come coach in a daddy ball system. I guarantee just about every coach in the state, and certainly in the region, knows exactly what went down with Faircloth. If I'm a young up and comer, or maybe an older assistant who's never been given a shot, it's worth the risk. But no way in hell I'd leave a good gig to coach there.

Quote from Obama: “I used to say if I can make an arrangement where I had a stand-in or front-man or front-woman and they had an earpiece in and I was just in my basement in my sweats looking through the stuff and I could sort of deliver the lines while someone was doing all the talking and ceremony, I’d be fine with that because I found the work fascinating,” Obama quipped.

  22. Coaches call out players all the time, at practice/locker-room/games. The social media public forum is not the place for it IMO. Yes there is more important things than basketball and getting these young men ready for the real world is the end state. I don't have a dog in this fight but I have been in a lot of gyms over the years and I know athletes are not only influenced by the coach on the side line these days. Many parents, AAU coaches, grandparents, etc can set the tone in a gym like it or not (Yes I do know where their head should be). At this point I know the young men at HF do the playing on Tuesday and Friday nights but I would be curious how many of your post are used as locker room material for other teams as well as used in HF locker rooms to continue an obvious divide. If I had a son on this team I would probably handle it differently than a forum that SETEX and surrounding areas look at often. More importantly I know some college coaches that look at this forum as well. I know they can put 2 + 2 together and I wonder how many of them want to deal with these social media post in their program for 4 years. Good luck this season, I hope you guys get it back on track

  23. Mr. Satcher won 8 games in 5 years, similar to Butch Troy's record winning 12 games in 5 years at png. No png resident wants to take a chance of going thru those coaching days again. IMO if you let a guy with Faircloth's resume/record go, a coach with a better resume/record should be the goal. If not then it was 100% a political move by Administrators & board members.

  27. Time to bring home David Satcher!! Coach Satcher begins his 6th year of coaching at Lake, and has 12 years of coaching overall. He has coached at both the high school (Woodville, Brazosport and Bay City) and college (Northwester State University and Texas State University) levels. Coach Satcher grew up import Neches, Texas. His favorite saying is never mistake activity for achievement. According to Coach Satcher, the most important thing to learn from playing football is working together in a group, having the experience of bringing diverse skills together so they fit into a single unit working toward a common goal, one in which everyone dose his own job. The highlight of his time at Lake has been Region lll Championship game victory over Katy. He and his wife have one child, Alina. Coach Satcher also teaches P.E.

  28. Remdesivir Treatment the NIH and Hospitals are pushing is $3000 true cost versus .02cents a tablet true cost for ivermectin. Ivermectin is way more effective an safer than Tylenol. Studies show Remdesivir can be deadly.

  33. Very true. HJ did a good of fronting the big kid in the post which made it harder for him to get the entry pass. They also were very successful with a little trap in the 4th quarter. Bottom line for HF to be successful #5 has to touch the basketball. If I were on the Horns sideline I’d make sure he touched it every trip down the floor. Kid is strong as a bull and doesn’t shy away from game

  35. Probably about right. He’s the best shooter, ball handler and passer on the team. But 10-20 points sounds about right. But when you are thin offensively to begin with, pretty huge loss. Wouldn’t make much difference tonight but may in the battle for the next 3 spots.

  40. I’m surprised as well. I didn’t know he was even coaching after the reason he got ran off from Shelbyville…. But not sure how that case was even resolved either. Ferguson was a damn good football coach. Maybe the best coach on that list. But WOS did well staying away from him.

  41. I think that is the whole point - hypocrisy! They all think this, and they all talk like this behind closed doors. However, the main point pushed on here is that 45 lost because of HIS demeanor and mentality, but the “other side” routinely gets a pass. I could care less how they speak, what they type as long as the job of president (putting USA first) is being accomplished.

  42. I dare say that you have read every post that I made about Trump. With that being said, you have not seen the numerous times I said Trump should keep his mouth shut. Therefore it is unfair to lump everyone in the group of you guys. By the way, who are the you guys?

  43. I could be wrong be but I don’t think too many conservatives on here are upset about what he said, they just want equal outrage from the media, which will never happen. I find it hilarious! 😂 I don’t believe Trump is on video saying he would fire someone on the spot if found out someone from his administration was disrespectful to the media like Biden had done. 😂 Not having your nap and pudding will make a elderly person very edgy. 😁

  45. Haha and to think we actually used to be good for a few years under Coach English. He somehow convinced the best athletes to focus on basketball and not play football. Truly amazing what he did at Vidor, sadly it didn’t have staying power once he left for Nederland. He turned us into wolves for a short time and now we’re back to being foxes.

  49. With missing players with injuries and COVID not only does it effect your numbers, you can’t get a rotation flow. Messes up the chemistry. Not knowing who is available to play has to be a nightmare. Kids having to accept different roles…..
