I want to say this. While I still can… I have not always been a super big supporter of BF. I knew we needed change, and maybe because he was an outsider, I didn’t give him the Danny Malone chance. Malone had fire and was US from day one. I felt at first BF was not US. But if you look at the big picture, I think he has done a good job overall. I have seen some of the most exciting games under his coaching, as well as some of the most disappointing. But this year is an example of putting together a season that we overachieved. He has had his struggles with Nederland. But so did Matt. He has has 3 of the best QBs in our history, Doty, RJ, and Bost, and has made us respectable. He has taken kids like Morse, and Miller, and made them into good HIgh School quarterbacks. You hear about our defense, but if you look at demographics, we just do not have the talent, to be great on both sides. PAM and Lumberton moving down has hurt both us and Nederland with move ins. And our area is landlocked, and what used to be prime jobs, is mainly contractor jobs, folks moving in and out. Drive around and see all the trailer parks filled up. I think his goal was build a facility and get some guys in. But the indoor facility was shot down. We had turf first, but now everyone has it. So we are not on a higher level as far as facilities go. What I will say, is that he has won games we should not have one. Kept us in games we should not have been in, and lost games we should have one. But that’s the life of a coach. Overall he has done a great job. He will leave as the winningest coach in our history. And he made us relevant on several occasions. I think his 2 best coaching feats, was a loss to Manvel, which his play calling kept us in a game we had no business being in. And the win against WOS, that broke a long drought. A guy like BF will be hard to replace, simply because we are not the talent pool, booming area we once was. So if I was to rate him, as of today, he would get an A………. Anyone can read this and take it how you want. But I think we have been lucky to have a guy who made us a good offensive team, and made us relevant at times. Times change, people change, and high school football changes. The Todd Dodges of the world are hard to come by. I think the key, is to take ideas from the Dodges of the world, advance them, and keep Texas High School football relevant. Dynasty’s come and go, but the Friday night lights will always be a part of Texas.

  2. FB Marshall got outplayed, out executed , out conditioned , ....THEY GOT WORE DOWN. Watch the game on TexanLive. BH controlled the game from midway 2nd Qtr until the end of the game. BH punched them in the mouth and staggered them. Who you play early in the year and how tough a district your in is important heading into the PLAYOFFS.

  3. Watch his HUDL highlights. Pretty good assessment above. If we play clean offensively we have a fighters chance. It’s apparent, the knock on our offense is being pressure and the QB struggles. I’m not sure how good defensively Montgomery is, but we will need a shootout to win. They have a pretty stout OLine and Washington can move. Just from what I watched, they do not appear to be a Crosby, so there is a fighting chance. I said going into the Crosby game we would get smoked, and we did. But I think if we have a good plan, we can pull the upset in this one. IMO, in the games we have lost, other than Crosby, we have made mental mistakes, pressure situations, we have crumbled. If we can get better QB play in those situations, we can make a game of it. Just my 2 cents.

  4. I like the idea of a Black Friday BH beat down better👍. I do hope we get by AMC though I think we give Crosby a much better game than they could.

  5. To be fair, not just any coach would have been an improvement. Peevey is proving himself to be exceptional. Not many, if any coaches willing to come to LCM could produce results this fast.

  6. Wanted to attend that one, but it’s on a dang Thursday night in Waco. If it was on Friday or Saturday we would’ve went. Will be in Channelview supporting the Bears.

  7. Jasper has a very good defense, maybe as good or better than WOS. But their offense is terrible. When they played Carthage, we kept saying, how could a team have one of the top defenses in 4A DII and have one of the worst offenses. WOS should be the favorite but I think it will be a low scoring game.

    Week 11

Texas Longhorns just lost to the 1-8 Kansas Jayhawks. The last time the Texas Longhorns lost 5 straight games: The president was Dwight D. Eisenhower. The #1 song was, “Hound dog” by Elvis Presley. Gas prices were .30 cents a gallon. The year was 1956.

  10. There oline is suspect to me I think we will be able to put pressure on the quarter back. The Qb does have a decent arm not really a speedy guy. I would lean toward LCM being the faster team. With all that being said LCM needs to put 4 quarters together and dominate this game because the next round will be all business. I’m going to pick Lindale to win that game vs El Campo. El Campo defense gives up way to many points

  14. Columbia won there game 65-18 with North Forest which is Hisd school. Just got through watching film they run a double wing/ wing T set. They do throw out of that formation and the Qb has a decent arm. From what I noticed they roll the Qb out and that will favor our DE. They lack team speed. I’m gonna predict 42-21 LCM. Hopefully we won’t start out slow

  15. Dayton hung with them neck and neck the first half and it was also Daytons 2nd game. Dayton has some talented kids that would start on any team in the district! wait til all district team stats come out. Anyway this is about PNG not you down playing Dayton. No offense! Go PNG !

  16. I don’t know about a high scoring game but United played both schools at their place lost to PNG 21-17 and Montgomery 23/19 in which a turnover cost them both games in the closing minute, I know some teams gets better during the season but I don’t see a 50 point score to win. The bears do have a fantastic running back and good defense, PNG surprise me with a good passing game. I will say 28-21 PNG, but if either decides to play no defense then sure a high scoring game is very possible
    2 points
  17. Montgomery is a solid team for sure ! They beat us (Dayton) 45/20 . They will keep the pressure on so you can't have to many turnovers like we did. With PNG passing game this should be a good game and a winnable game also. GO PNG !

  18. Two point attempts were situational: Down 15-7. Stopped short on QB sneak. Down 15-13. Stopped short, according to refs, using Dodd. Dodd. 24 Car / 123 YDs / 2 TDs if that's not good enough for some, then oh well. I will agree on the QB. That was the adjustments made that some didn't see I guess. It didn't work because of execution. Execution failed due to penalties and poor timing between QB/Receivers. When it was right Silsbee was unstoppable. Saenz 34 YD TD on beautiful roll out pass. Cartwright 77 YD TD on perfect slant in stride that was nullified to apparent False start. Three drives inside 20. Penalties, poor pass for INT, etc. Of course, jmo. But I did have a birdseye view, next to coaches and stadium staff who miraculously saw much the same. Called it like I saw it. In the end. Doesn't matter anymore. Season over and next year will tell if Silsbee gets better and does not make these mistakes next year.

  19. That’s called “snow-flake ball”, we don’t play that over here in 12-5A-D2. You take your whipping and move on to the next week. In GP’s case “next week” involves free throws.

  20. Okay let’s get this one started. Columbia game is not over but it’s in the 4th quarter and I don’t see them losing its 58-18 in the 4quarter. What is everyone’s thoughts?

  21. Agree 100 percent. triple headers and even quadruple headers were the best 80-90’s Watching Odell James and Aldine MacArthur, La Marques state runs ( except the 2 years they beat us there) Vince Young, Ray Seals and Madison, great Katy teams, PNG, Nederland, Westbrook, WOS and Jacksonville— all day great football

  22. Hey don’t give 14.2 too much praise, don’t need him to get a big head!😊 Not only is he knowledgeable, but was a very, very good high school player. We should have done much better as a team with him his senior year. And he loves getting under your skin.

    Bellville vs Rusk

I may be wrong but I see us scoring more than 7. If we don’t they will definitely score more than 35. Bellville isn’t Jasper, if we keep giving the ball back they will score.

  28. The defense has been very solid for several seasons consecutively. Now the offense has been either underwhelming or inconsistent in recent history. This year was better than last season but kind of stalled at the end when we lost our best backs. Too predictable? Yea probably. Don’t pass enough? Yea probably. Crazy that they surprised everyone and threw the ball on every down on the last drive of the season and we were all like wtf… Why didn’t we run it? How do you address the problems above? Well there are plenty of Vidor fans calling for changes and some have made it crystal clear what they want in this very thread.

  29. Horton, our defensive success this season is because of our first year defensive coordinator Malcolm Bronson. He is a Jasper alum who is/was a helluva athlete himself. He had a VERY GOOD college career at Mcneese State resulting in his going to the NFL. Two years with KC then two years with Chicago (he also was drafted by the KC Royals baseball coming out of highschool in 2008). Not taking at all from the young men we have on defense at all. they are athletic and give it their all on every play. I am sure other Jasper fans would agree that it's not as chaotic and confused at times on what's going on. We have been doing somewhat better on offense lately and I like to think we have improved on the execution of whatever type of offense it's called. Maybe a new type called RANDOM is appropriate, with each week being a mystery for Jasper fans. LOL. But I also keep in mind the defenses we have played. take care and the I wish yall the best the rest of the way.

  35. Good season Vidor, can’t call it great because no matter the Pirates history when you play from the 1-hole you need to win your playoff game, period. Injuries suck, but they’re a part of the game and if you’re going to run that type of offense then those rb injuries are going to be waaaayyyy more impactful than the will be for other teams. I’m sure one of your Pirate fans can correct me on the particulars but I’ve been on here since 2011 and I don’t remember Vidor having a defense as stiff as they did this year in a decade? I don’t care what your history says, you hold Jeff Riordan and those level athletes to 25 points you’re supposed to win the game, period. Much like when Liberty Hill won their state titles, Vidor is the big boy on the block now. Weeks ago I talked about Vidor at the line of scrimmage and if you go back and look at the two long runs CH’s qb made, that’s where Vidor lost it. Even when the Pirates were bad in 5A they had better offenses than the one they do now on the regular. If you can’t drop down a class and consistently put 35+ on hood competition then it may be time to revisit what you have going? Y’all aren’t the little kids trying to make up for a talent deficiency anymore.

Reason #2,136 that ownership is horrible. I think you also have to deal with 2-3 different entities when securing that stadium. When you play at AT&T in Arlington or the Star in Frisco, you deal with one man, and Jerry Jones is the biggest fan of high school football in the state.

  38. You are correct. It was a Chinese fire drill on the Oline the first three games of district. We’ve actually had to adjust our lineup. Our starting LFT tackle was out vs Jasper (out for the season) and we slid a guard to replace and the RT tackle to guard. Three weeks ago we moved a dlineman over to off tackle and moved the RT tackle back outside. Now the only 300 pound kids are the two guards. Center and tackles are 250-270. It started paying off on Friday. We are moving tremendously better on the edges now.

  41. Interesting you mention the oline. As a former tackle, I'd hate to be lined up against #90 after the game he had. We haven't seen four good quarters yet from the bears. The best they played was against Splendora in the first half. It'll take four good quarters from this point on IMHO. After playing a similar offence the week before and getting over those playoff jitters they could be looking at practice come Thanksgiving.

  43. They’re a very good team. I think we have a little more talent at the skill positions. They’re probably a little better up front. They have a couple RBs who are decent and a quarterback who’s pretty accurate. They run a offense that’s simulare to ours but they have better play calling and the players execute more precisely. They’re definitely the favorites but I doubt they beat us by 50

  47. A couple of days ago the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans (which covers Texas it is one step below the Supreme Court), put a halt to a Biden/OSHA vaccine mandate for companies with over 100 employees. here is an opinion article about that ruling. [Hidden Content] IF someone wishes to read the actual legal case from the circuit court, here it is. It is a rather terse or maybe even blistering commentary on the whole idea that OSHA could issue such a mandate. [Hidden Content]

  49. Marshall is the weakest team of any of the four teams we’ll be playing this week so making matchups where you were trying to get another sweep this isn’t one you would set up, but if you excluded those two teams then this is exactly how I would set up the three remaining matchups. TC can play a 21-17 slobber-knocker with TH, PNG can win a 52-48 shootout with Montgomery and BH can grind down Consol. 35-31. All the speculation aside, 12-5A-D2 once again proves that we play from the most treacherous district in the region.
