Hey, my Vidor peeps. I’m so sorry for being late to the party and not giving you the props and the accolades due to you. But you guys are playing some great ball. Congrats to Coach Matthews and Pirate nation. Keep this momentum going. I’ll start watching this squad closely from this point on.

One is arguably playing in the toughest district in the state of Texas while the other one is playing in the weakest district in the state of Texas.

You can analyze it til it harelips the Governor. Bottom line is WO-S did what they were supposed to, soundly beat an inferior Liberty team like 73-7. If Liberty plays well they lose 56-14. They didn't.

I talked with Jeff before the season started picking up my season tickets. He said this group of kids had a lot of heart like my son's team did that sharedTri District champs with Memoral and PNG. So far this team has proven that all year. I have no doubt they will continue.

Mackey has the single season receptions, yards and TD record for Silsbee. Career receiving yards goes to Barnes. Miller is on pace to break all those records.

And WO-S did it with just 11 players on defense. A good coaching move to rest the offense while the defense was on the field. This could be the future for football.

That’s a good statement. I think it was an eye opener for the rah rahs last night. But for the football folks it was no surprise. BF is very limited right now. I will not get on here and call out kids and positions. But he is limited. I do think we can do better on the defensive side of the ball. Crosby did nothing magical in their play calling. Simple game film showed what they like, and who they like to feed. Our defensive plan was a joke, and I knew that mid week, that’s why I gave the 42 point prediction, and down by 28 at the half. I will say this, and it’s not something I usually say, I do not think on the offensive side of the ball , he can do anything more. And if he gets this team to a playoff spot, it will be a win for him. As for the yard signs, I don’t think you will see any, or should see any. We have had a run of very good QB play, and it has helped us over the past 7 years. This group is not as fortunate on that. The next 5 years are going to be a tough time at PNG. This team fell apart against Nederland, and it might very well cost them a playoff spot, but somehow beat a BH team that was a toss up. If they can pull a win out at TC, it will be a great win for these kids. But comparing PNG to Crosby is almost Ludacris. The talent pull is just not comparable, due to location.

There’s a lot at stake here with the Pirates likely gaining statewide recognition this week. We could have a state ranked top 10 team in Vidor for the first time in a lifetime. BH put up 600+ on Crosby, PNG and Ned. Two of those games BH lost their head last night they didn’t.

#7 listed at 130 pounds. I don’t know if he’s ever missed a game. Kid carries more man in that 130 than most 200 pounders.

My Coldspring Trojans so far have exceeded my expectations. I thought we would win maybe 2 or 3 games. So far 4-0 in district. Playoff bound

It really has nothing to do with red or blue but two things. First, the person most instrumental in helping secure refining permits is your US representative which has been a republican for the Beaumont area since 1995. Second, my company is expanding its Beaumont refinery so what ever needed to take place at the city happened also. The issue is that there is a lot more automation and more contractors in the refineries now. That leads to a need for less permanent resources(residents) and creates a more transient workforce(guys living in travel trailers in these RV parks). That transient workforce usually doesn’t bring their kids and companies are figuring out how to operate with less and less so there’s not some huge need for employees at these refineries even when they’re expanded. These big refineries now are operating at about a quarter of the permanent personnel they used to 40 years ago. People are trickling from the smaller towns to the larger metro areas to take advantage of the job market in this places. That’s why you see contraction in SETX, not because some union guys are locked out right now.

Franklin had around 100 kids come out for football... About 45 kids on varsity 30 on jv and 20-25 on the freshman team. We have a bunch of depth and could play with 4a schools and beat them. We beat 3Ad1 #7 lorena by 7 and 4ad2 #5 china springs beat lorena by the same score

@Silsbee92 no offense, my transfer comment wasn't in reference to your broadcast but it was in reference to the question @BADSANTA presented on another Silsbee vs HF thread on 10/17. I know the same people concerned about transfers at HF are also following this thread. 😉

Like I was telling the PNG fans who were pointing to the stats among common opponents, there’s a difference in how they were accumulated. PNG scored on the second play from scrimmage, then Crosby scored 42 unanswered and the game was over half way though the second quarter. Even on PNG’s second td drive close to the end of the first half it was a backup corner who dropped the int two plays earlier. Most of those passing yards are a result of PNG down by 40 trying to air it out against the backups. Most of their rushing yards came from their backup rb against our backup defenders. Their starter probably had 15 carries for 30 yards.

Correct. We would still like the opportunity to change those numbers for your 2021 all time defense. We got an all time RB and an OL that can make holes.

Excellent broadcast except for a few misidentifications i.e. receiver/punter #10 DJ Brown not #6 Zeno which neither are "transfers" (of which we have very few). Some seem to believe that's why HF is doing so well but give all these kids credit because they are all sweating and bleeding BLUE AND GOLD.

My mom made a great point, saying if Biden were to come out and say something like “We as Americans are going to be a free country, there will be no further mandates from the govt. If a private company wants to that is their business, but the govt will no longer be in the business of mandating freedom away.” She said that would swing many his way - not sure I agree with that, but do agree with that sentiment. Now it’s a vaccine mandate, what will tomorrow’s mandate be that you are expected to get in line with? You cannot fly if your 23&me shows a predisposition to mental illness? Slippery slope!!!!

If the attempted mandating were to go away, this would be a non issue. The gov is the problem here (as, usual) not the folks that choose their own way. I can actually understand their pushback simply because it’s coming from gov.

Its more SC's o-line than it is the RB. SC is just a lot bigger than WB. SC is running the same three plays. Every 3rd down they put the WR at QB flip the OT and TE and run the WR to the overloaded side. I mean damn make an adjustment already.

Watching one game doesn’t really show me the better coach. I’m not a fan of BF by any means, but he does a lot with a little sometimes. PNG isn’t churning out D1 talent.

Hope y’all don’t get tired of reading this Pirates, there’s not a bigger game in Texas than y’all beating Huffman. Can’t emphasize this enough, focus on this game only. This is the most important game you’ll play. Old but true, one game at a time. I know you can win this game. Git’er done.

I don't have the all time records but from my limited memory (2000-2021).... Miller may not only set the single season receiving record for Silsbee this year but could in fact eclipse career records for Silsbee receivers in his first season. The closest I know of stats wise to D. Miller this year is K. Barnes (2016-17) and Miller has blown those numbers out the water before the playoffs. I'd have to defer to more seasoned people to clear this up but if the pace continues then no doubt he will be all time leader at Silsbee, if he stays at receiver, by the time he graduates. Jmo

Coach Riordan and nem changed the expectations at Crosby. Coach P is carrying it thru now. This isn't your Coach Haynes type Crosby Cougars anymore. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Most prob won't remember but these key plays were unbelievable... 1) Sure INT on 4th Down mishandled and tipped into receivers hands. TD HF 2) Punt - Bad snap to 8 yd line. TD HF 3) Miller w/ INT chance only to be ran into by another player by accident to dislodge ball. 4) HF Fumble - Ruled down 5) HF Fumble - Offsides on kickoff (1 of 3 in game for both teams..lol.) 6) Heckaman Sacked/Fumble on 4th Down (Field Goal Attempt?) These were just a few of the plays that happened to keep this game close. I enjoyed calling it.

People in Warren have to be scratching their heads..... this guy leaves and is going to win a district championship. Congrats to the Rebs & Coach Buckner.

Only thing missing is the Lakers.
