No timeline yet. We are in process of building our new hs that should be done December 2026. I have done all the leg work to price the start up costs out. If I could start it immediately I would but the start up costs are the biggest hurdle when starting from scratch. It is my goal and mission as AD here to have it built the right way. It would start 7th first and then build up and add slowly.5 points -

Dying Sport? Baseball is exploding in numbers on the youth levels from 6u to 18u in select & a few local Little Leagues had record number sign ups the last couple years. High school & college level is far from a dying sport. The coverage on setx sports is dying because less & less people care to put the time in to post baseball things.5 points

kenyon came later. but that 1991 team may be one of the most successful teams in the history of Texas basketball when it comes to success AFTER high school. the entire starting 5 from that team earned their doctorate degrees in their respective fields, and the overwhelming majority of the rest of team has been just as successful. What are the odds that a smalltown basketball team could churn out so much success. Dr. Jamey Harrison- former Bridge City Superintendent, current director of the UIL Dr. Shannon Holmes- former Hardin-Jefferson Superintendent, current director of ATPE Dr. Jeff Burke- retired as the Superintendent of Splendora Dr. Joel Nolte- former Asst. When you say "losing record", are you utilizing "math" or something else? He has more wins than losses, is 10-3 considered "good"? 8-3? 7-5? 7-4? for schools like Hardin, Liberty? Probably have a parade in the streets if Tarkington were able to win 4 games right now.4 points

I think you're assuming that coaches with winning records just inundate all head coaching opportunities with unlimited interest. Big name coaches (or ones with winning records) don't normally apply for this type of job. Are they supposed to just scrap every resume until they get to a winning one? I'd think that most schools try to hire the best candidate of the ones that apply for the job.4 points -

There are 96 schools that made the state quarterfinals. 65 of those 96 schools have at least $60k average household incomes. I also comprised a list of all of the 6A/5A/4A schools in the state, along with their respective household income, and their regular season record for the 2025 football season. There are 166 schools that have an average household income of $60k or greater. 23.7% of those schools (40) had a winning record (6-4 or better). There are 84 schools in the group with an average household income of less than $60k. 12% of those schools (10) had a winning record (6-4 or better). I also went ahead and did a list of 3A schools.. just for fun. Of the schools that had an average household income of $53k (low class in Tx) or more, 77.4% of them had a winning record (6-4 or better). Of the schools that had an average income of less than $53k, 33.2% of them had a winning record (6-4 or better). So.. even though there are other factors and exceptions. 6A/5A/4A schools that have an average household income of $60k or more have two times the statistical likelihood of having a winning season. And 3AD1 schools with average household incomes of $53k or more have a 77% chance of a winning record, compare to a 33% chance of those that make less than $53k. Again.. I know there are other details involved. But.. I'm a numbers guy. And these numbers tell a story.3 points -

If you weren’t committed enough to send ground troops, you weren’t committed enough to the purpose to start the conflict. Issue is, POTUS knew he wouldn't get public, or Congressional support for ground troops. So, he tried an end-around. Without public support, success will be hard to achieve. Success in this endeavor required eliminating the IRGC, and affecting regime/cultural change. I keep repeating myself there's a reason why conflicts are supposed to be difficult to start.3 points

I spoke with Harold earlier today. He believes that KLVI will continue to do Nederland football and Lamar athletic broadcasts and he will contract out for them. He is just no longer a full time employee with IHeart/KLVI. He isn't 100% certain of this but believes it will happen.3 points -

Harold Mann has been let go by IHeart Radio, KLVI 560. He was the voice of Nederland football broadcasts on KLVI. Not sure what this will mean for Nederland radio broadcasts. Will KLVI continue to broadcast their games with someone else or are they getting out of the business all together? This also greatly effects Lamar athletic broadcasts. Mann was the play by for all their broadcasts. Be curious to see where KLVI goes from here.3 points -

I just spoke with Harold. He doesn't think KLVI will drop sports broadcasts (Lamar, Nederland). He anticipates contracting out with KLVI to continue doing radio broadcasts of Nederland football and Lamar Athletics. Might be on a reduced broadcast schedule but should continue. We will see come September.3 points -

Yes. WTI—which is actually light, sweet crude—will remain slightly elevated against Brent simply because of access. It can’t elevate in price too much because it’s almost a byproduct for the U.S. We have more than enough light, sweet crude and our refineries are mainly set up to process heavy, sour. What many don’t understand is that it’s actually more expensive to refine the heavy, sour that we import. But, because of environmental policies through the recent decades, we don’t use as much oil as many think. Also, heavy, sour can be refined into multiple more products like diesel, asphalt, pharmas, and other petrochemical products whereas light, sweet is primarily only for gasoline, kerosene, jet fuel. It actually becomes more cost efficient to import heavy, sour and export the sweet. Plus, it’s a way of using our oil exports as diplomacy, and steadying the global market. WTI never really gets that much separation from Brent simply because global buyers know the U.S. has to pretty much just unload a lot of it because we can’t use it all. Hopefully, my comments are helping make more sense to some out of a hard to understand commodity market. If nothing else, y’all are learning more about the overall business. There’s a lot more to it than most know. They just see gas prices and hear the price of oil. They’re not getting a bigger overview.3 points -
It's not evil according to the zealots in control of Iran. They believe that by attacking and destroying Israel, they will initiate the second coming of their Mahdi, and Allah will return to reward them. So, they actually want a major war that kills however many it kills. Reading your posts these past few months, you should read the link. I think you--and others--may find it very interesting. (Of course, you have to separate the Iranian people from this view as many--if not most--aren't believers of these ideas.) Dr. Tim Orr isn't a 'Fly-By-Nighter.' He's a well known scholar with multiple degrees and decades of first-hand experience between religions. [Hidden Content]3 points

Far be it from me to say exactly what's going on. I will say that Navy Divers are the experts in underwater EOD, and have been known to exit flooded tubes to perform mine clearing duties. Yes. It's one of the most dangerous jobs in any Branch of the Service. That's why ND's receive hazardous duty pay from Day 1 after A school. One day, you may be exiting a sub in an unconventional manner. One day, you may jump from a perfectly good helo. One day, you may be at 300 feet below, and the next, you may be clearing a landing zone with a rebreather. You have to be qualified on every type of dive equipment from bare, to a snorkel and fins, to rebreathers, to scuba, to Mark 16's (or whatever they are on nowadays), and gas mixtures. In addition, small arms quals are very rigorous. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if some investigative/clearing type activity wasn't taking place right under everyone's collective noses right now.3 points -
Thank you, appreciate your honesty but Reagan talks like he inside information from generals on the front lines. 😂 I think Trump is having a hard time finding an exit ramp on this war. I personally think BiBi gave him some not so accurate intel. It’s a Mess!!3 points

His dad was a stud! He went to college as a Quarterback. I always thought he would have been a MLB player if he would have went that route instead. He hit like 27 homeruns his Senior year! I remember Coach Stone was coaching Orangefield against SFA over at the old baseball field off of 25th st. The pitcher threw one about chest high and Stone told him if you put it there again he is going to put it over the street. The very next pitch went over the street with a moonshot! I asked Stone about 5 years ago if he remembered that and he said like it was yesterday. That was about 31-32 years ago. Chad was a freshman when I was a Senior. Back in the kid days I'd pick Chad on my team before kids 3-4 years older than him. Whether it be football or baseball, Chad was that dude! Really happy for him to get to see his kid do things he use to do. Chad was always very laid back but get him on a field and he made a lot of noise. I always thought he was the best overall high school quarterback until Dustin Long came along. I have some great memories of Chad on the baseball and football field!3 points

2026 Astros
1989NDN and 2 others reacted to AggiesAreWe for a topic
So far (11 games), it's been pretty simple. Astros offense (MLB leading) has won them 6 games. Astros pitching and defense has lost them 5 games. Houston leads MLB in just about every offensive category. Houston pitching is 28th (out of 30) in MLB. An ERA right at 6 (5.75) Personally, I am willing to have the offense drop a bit if it means our pitching can get to around 4 in ERA.3 points -

Anyone Besides Me Getting Tired of Our Government Becoming 'Bail-Out' Central?
thetragichippy and one other reacted to OlDawg for a topic
Just a question. There were the automakers, banks, Fannie & Freddie, Intel, miners, and now Spirit Airlines? I have no desire to own an airline. When did it become okay for our tax dollars to be used for the government to take stakes in private companies? GM still owes us a ton. Not only does this create unfair competition and market manipulation worse than typical, but it's a form of socialism that's getting out of control.2 points -

Listening to Brown-Jackson’s logic is hard on the brain.
