  1. What else are we supposed to say honestly? You guys (I love your stuff, no kidding) but you promote and glorify teams along with the UIL who gain advantages. Everyone knows what's coming and it's extremely difficult to compete with it. And somehow it's "racist" to bring up recruiting? Still haven't figured that one out. It is what it is man. The rules are there that allow it currently but it doesn't impress me. They have the most transfers in the state. That should not be allowed OR the school should be able to do it if they move up to a much higher classification. It's common sense to most but not all for some reason. Crown them. We are still coming, and we are bringing hell with us.

    Round 3: PNG vs MH

I don't know. According to the peanut gallery, MH has inside info that will provide them the win. 😉

  3. While I would have liked to see them score a TD and make it a closer game, what a great and fun season for those boys. They brought some life and Cardinal spirit the likes of which Larry Ward stadium hasn’t seen in years! What a fun ride it’s been! It’s a great day to be a Cardinal!

  4. Do we still want to fire the coach? Or.. not yet? Or.. never mind? Just making sure I’m keeping up.

  5. Word I received is that Bailey will not play against Ennis but is hopeful to play in 3rd round. I have been told the extent of his injuries but that doesn't need to be publicized here. That's for his family and school to announce.

  6. This has gone long enough. When folks start talking about race of the coach, that ends the thread.

  7. They are and for that reason I hope UIL moves PNG and Nederland back to Reg 3… no reason to be playing DFW schools in bidistrict or this early in the playoffs…

  9. This is what I do know. There are certain people in this fan base that don’t have any knowledge of football and no school spirit but just show up to cause confusion. This may be the case here, however, there seem to be belligerent people like this In all of our local fan bases.

  11. Im backkkk… just for a post or two. SOC, Randle, and IC, to me, are the top tier teams in the classification. I think we fall into tier 2. Does that mean we can’t win, no…. But it will take a perfect game and pull it out in the end type of situation. I will say this. And I’m a life long PNG fan. I have never seen more ignorance, racism, and utter negativity in my life from the PNG fans. From the crying about open enrollment, gloves, region, coaching, etc…. Suit up and play the game and see what happens. But speak with some football IQ folks. We are in the quarters. A undefeated season so far, great coaching staff, and good little team. Have a QB, RB, and 2 WR, coming back next year. Versus all the negativity, shoot out some positive thoughts.

  13. UMMM...not really because the UIL put: West Orange, Silsbee, Hamshire-Fannett, Jasper, Shepherd, and Tarkington in front of you and you opted up. Sorry, just the truth.

  14. no probably to it, and the tigers absolutely deserved that hardware. It's one thing to run into a team that's better than you, another thing entirely to be a town of less than 7,000 people and run into an AAU team recruiting from 13 districts and millions of people.

    PNG and growth?

[Hidden Content] I use to work with maps while working for the Jefferson Co apraisal district back when it was off 39th St in Groves many moons ago. My understanding is it was the county lines, then the school district lines. Un-incorporated areas became cities and that's why you have city boundaries not matching the school district's lines. Also, neighborhood developers just build in an empty field not really paying attention to school district lines unless they will use it as a selling point. But to your initial question: that whole area between 365 and Jimmy Johnson is a cluster but I remember when all of that was rice fields

  19. Mustang alum following from DFW. This is incredible. I did not think it was possible. After losing that opening game to Nederland it seemed like here we go again - another season just like the last three. I'm amazed not just by the fact we've made it this far, but HOW we've done it - coaching improvements, halftime adjustments, focusing on the strengths of our personnel (using that big O-line/awesome tailback/I-formation, etc.), and better overall defensive play. If we can eliminate turnovers and lessen the penalties, they can beat any team in 4AD2 (save Carthage, but who knows). They were good enough to beat Sealy by two TDs last week if not for the turnovers. I'm so impressed with the heart of this team and how they continue to be better than their opponents in the second half. Keep it going, WO-S!

  20. Wow, just wow... as bad a first half as you could have in a 4th round game... and takes home a 15 point win. Good job everyone. Adjustments made. I tell ya what, those kids got some fight in them. And they will play their hearts out for their coach. Much respect.

  21. It’s comical to me when places recruit a super team then feel pride despite the fact that they couldn’t win with the talent they had on hand. Especially when you think what would happen if schools like PNG were willing to ignore the rules with all of the resources at their disposal. I’d rather lose with our kids that grew up here than win with some kids who stopped here for part of a season.

  23. I still think open enrollment schools should be forced to play at the 6A level. It’s never been an even playing field but apparently the UIL doesn’t care

    PNG Fight Club

It was said 20 times on the Ennis game broadcast. CB was in a brace. You think SOC didnt have coaches there scouting? There is no secret. And yes, Fight Club was a figment of the dudes imagination, just like any opponent gaining a competitive advantage from a message board is yours. Telling people to STFU is the wrong way to get good conversation going.

    RIP Coach Hooks

The man pulled me out of class cuz I was failing Calculus with Griff. I wasnt a star player but he told me this... idk what position play or if u play at all. But your names on my list now. So get your *stuff together or I'll be having another meeting with u that won't go so well. Get your *butt back in there and listen to Griff. Don't make me come down this hall again. Yesssir!!! And and i passed Calculus. RIP Coach Coach Hooks, stomp, stomp Coach Hooks, stomp, stomp Coach Hooks, stomp, stomp Sometimes during the pep rally it would barely stop long enough for him to speak. Then right back at it until the band played stop look and listen.

If you don't see updated scores or schedule updates from me today, I apologize. Battling the flu. Will be in bed most of the morning and afternoon. I will try to get caught up with results from most of the tourneys later this evening. Hopefully folks will post todays scores in the tournament threads. Thanks for your understanding.

  34. PAM was the best defensive team in the area.Holding teams to around 15 pts on avg. Saturday was the first time in awhile they gave up that many yards and points since game 2 of the season. Also this year, as a team, they did not get penalties like Saturday. Idk if the refs was calling ticky tack holding or actual holding. The false starts and offsides are very uncharacteristic. IMO, PAM run defense is one of the best in the state. Shut #22 down and we got a real shot. Also rb’s like him don’t do well against PAM defenses. He’s one of those bruising backs that you can’t let him gain momentum. Not saying he’s a Derrick Henry, but runs similar.

  35. Wild to me that the Stangs just pulled a 15-point upset to make it to the semis and people are still griping about coaching. They’re playing out of their minds right now, and at least some of that is due to coaching.

  39. Without getting into specific details, I’ll just remind folks that SpecOps operate under different ROE’s than conventional military units. Yes. They still operate under international laws and rules of combat while in uniform, or under the flag of the U.S. But, rules are vastly more flexible. Typically, a USN vessel assisting in deterring criminal activity will replace their fleet flags with a Coast Guard flag, and thus—technically—be under CG control with the legal protections offered. It can be debated if designating a group a terrorist organization makes them a military or criminal target. I don’t have details on the attack in September. If true SpecOps, much of what you’re hearing from the chattering class is inaccurate/incomplete due to their lack of knowledge of the incident, and in the different ROE’s. Rest assured, when uniformed DOD personnel are involved, JAG is also involved at every level in the chain. They are the experts in military law. Not civilian lawyers, pundits, or politicians. If Congress wants to change something, they need to pass a resolution of some sort defining when/how POTUS can use force. History has shown—all the way back to Jefferson and the Barbary pirates—that POTUS has the authority to defend the U.S. and it’s interests with military force. ‘Defending the U.S.’ is the gray area in this case just as it was with many previous Presidents, including Obama and Libya, and Biden and the Houthis. Finally, I’d be especially concerned how leaks from military operations were still occurring.

  44. Thompson and Hooks are both hall of fame coaches,Hickman is at best a mediocre coach..that may change and when it does I’ll be the first to congratulate him…until then stop comparing them because there is no comparison. You do know he wasn’t even qualified for the job,the crooked superintendent had to change some stuff up to get him in..that’s politics that shouldn’t be in schools but it is and it’s disgusting for taxpayers and that would be me,do you still live here and involved in some of this mess?

  47. Here’s my actual take on last night’s game. CH’s team was definitely bigger and more athletic than our squad. Sometimes bigger and faster teams win, and sometimes the team that executed better gets the win. It was honestly a really close game, but CH just made more costly mistakes than we did. Their bad plays seemed to have worse consequences last night than ours. We botched the snap on a punt, but the punter recovered the ball and still got it out of there. On the flip side, CH botched a snap on a punt and downed the ball deep in their backfield giving us an easy 7. Stuff like that. Our defense kept us in it when we couldn’t get our offense moving against their very solid D-especially up front. Hosting a playoff game in BC was outstanding… first one in memory, and the atmosphere was as good as it’s ever been in my opinion. It was a really, really good night for the BC. I was also very proud to see a pretty clean game-I can only remember one unsportsmanlike called all night for a scuffle near our sideline. But I can’t count all of the times I saw one of our kids offer a hand up to a CH player, or slap somebody from the other team on the back. I saw one of their kids lose his helmet and one of ours picked it up and handed it back. It kinda stuck out after the festivities from a few weeks ago vs LCM. Their band and drill team put on a good show, but I was a little surprised that their fans didn’t travel better. Kind of a small crowd, but it was three hour drive for them on a workday. We didn’t destroy anybody, we just played our game, had some lucky breaks, and were ahead on the scoreboard when time ran out. On to the next one.
