  1. I hope we have many reps from SETX making runs this year. Good Luck to our SETX family.

I’m hoping they actually have the right guy this time. I was leaning with some of you that it looked more and more like a professional job. Hopefully we know the truth. I am going to post one thing here though in general. Reading this thread is almost as depressing as social media, on both sides. At least no one is celebrating a man’s murder here that I’ve seen. But those of you who are proclaiming it’s only the liberals or the Dems who do this need to expand your source of information or remove your head from the sand or your nether regions, as applicable. Specifically, I would direct your attention to the murder of Melissa Hortman, the speaker of Minnesota’s House of Representatives and her husband, both democrats (oh and their dog). The man indicted for their murder, is a self proclaimed evangelical Christian. He allegedly targeted them and other prominent democrats in Minnesota because of their politics. I didn’t read every single post in this thread so I apologize if this has already been mentioned. But these murders occurred less than 90 days ago. I did go back through this page and couldn’t find a thread dedicated to these senseless killings. I am very glad that I didn’t find one blaming Republicans and/or evangelical Christians for their deaths. Because that would be as dumb and/or unfair as blaming an entire party or segment of a part for Charlie’s death. We know next to nothing at this point other than a good man, husband and father was senselessly executed. And while I think a lot of many of you who post here, whether I agree or disagree with you, if you are one of those who rushes to get to a keyboard and politicize these tragedies, I hate to break it to you but YOU are part of the problem.

  3. Praise the Lord. With every resource available to literally every single coaching staff in existence, it's blatantly obvious that the WV coaching staff ditched all of those and finally reached out to the setxsports fan forum for some actual advice. Anyone that says that the very conversations had on this site along with reverting back to the ultra success of youth football weren't completely responsible for this win, then they are a liar. I even have it on good authority that there was actually a peewee coach in the press box with headsets.. giving the entire staff personnel suggestions. Thank goodness. One can only hope that the WV head coach will continue to lean heavily on the words spoken in this very website... as anyone with a brain knows that this is the gospel in terms of football knowledge.

I will make this one comment on the “both sides are guilty” argument. Big girl says that we celebrated Trayvon Martin and George Floyd’s deaths. That’s the biggest racist lie in the world, but if she repeats it and spreads it around enough, people will believe it. The Minnesota senator was also mentioned. Yes, she was killed by a so-called right leaning Christian. Am I proud? No. Did I celebrate? No. Charlie Kirk’s killer was raised in a conservative family, but no matter how much we try and raise our kids the right way, they can be indoctrinated. So “both sides” can have some kooks. This will be the point I am trying to make. When the Minnesota Senator and husband were killed, how many people in congress and Fox News made snide remarks about their murders…..NONE. How many people in congress and MSM, and even teachers have made snide remarks about Charlie Kirk’s murder? How many people have rejoiced in Kirk’s murder on social media. It’s really sickening the numbers. True, both sides have their black sheep, but for me, the left is more easily triggered (wrong pronouns) and are simply very callous in their feelings for those of us on the right. Let a man wear a MAGA hat while walking down a street in a liberal town. Now, let a man wear a Biden or Kamala shirt while walking down the street in a conservative neighborhood and you tell me who is safer. Last post on the subject. Not interested in the back and forth. I hate no one.

    Silsbee vs Vidor

Vidor offense is just so... meh.... The passing plays are all play action and their receivers are not receivers but instead just the guys that run the plays into the huddle . Wouldnt worry about the pass too much, worry about the other 3 plays

  12. Spidey---maybe some of those young kids will continue to get better? All programs have cycles of success and down years. That's high school sports. When you have good coaches and a good group of kids, enjoy the ride. When your team struggles, circle the wagons and encourage them to get better. Regardless, if those kids put on your school's colors, love them, encourage them, and support them. On my side of the tracks, if our kids struggle, I hope all Indian fans will love them and encourage them to compete and get better. Tearing them down on a public forum isn't helpful or supportive. Take the next two weeks, heal up, get better in practice, and go compete in district. Good things just might happen. GO INDIANS! Peace.

  13. WOS has never been as big or bigger than PNG and are 20-9 all time vs PNG. That includes beating some very good PNG teams, including the year we went to state in 1999. Something is different at WOS and it’s not enrollment.

  14. Righties on X were screenshotting celebratory posts and posting them and tagging people’s employers asking if they shared the same views as their employees all last night. And I’m going to be honest, I think it’s great. One of the biggest issues we’re facing today is that the fringe lunatic left was able to do and say literally whatever they wanted for a decade, often encouraged to do so by their political leaders. Never being held accountable for abhorrent behavior leads to more bad behavior. It honestly is likely playing a part in these assassinations and assassination attempts. When you’ve had it ingrained into you that the other side is the devil, while simultaneously being allowed to act however you want, it’s no surprise that some take it all the way.

  15. I started deer hunting as an adult. Within a single box of shells I was putting 3 rounds inside of a silver dollar at 200 yds. It's really not hard with a decent gun and good optics. It's also worth noting that this shot had to be a miss that got lucky. From the angle it came in it was likely supposed to be a head shot that was several inches low and happened to catch his neck.

I agree. I don’t support the Democrat party whatsoever. But I’m not going to lump all Democrats into the same basket. My father-in-law, who passed away a couple years ago, voted for Joe Biden. He was afraid his benefits would be cut if he didn’t. He was scared. Old, frail and scared. He succumbed to his illness, and it didn’t really matter at that point. Regardless, he was a Democrat and one hell of a man. He didn’t agree with everything the Democrat party did, just like I don’t agree with everything republican. The people saying I hate all Democrats or I hate all Republicans are what’s wrong with what we have going on today. I don’t agree with the radical right or left. I lean pretty far right, but not to the point of wanting to take someone’s life or injure someone because I don’t agree. I think most Democrats are the same way. We just see the looney far left and think that all Democrats are like that. Well, they’re not. Misguided as they are, most Democrats don’t want to kill anyone over their ideology or beliefs.

I’m not caving into anything. I’m just sick of a crap and the back-and-forth. I never said the left and right are morally equivalent. I simply said there are issues on both sides, and until both sides come to terms for that, this is not going to end. And sadly, none of us can’t identify where the problem is because we’re too busy pointing fingers at the other guy.

  24. I don’t have one. I think parents addressing mental illness/issues with their kids and getting help versus ignoring it (because they don’t want to admit their child has a problem) may help. There may not be an answer, but I raised my kid like I was raised, I spent a lot of time with my Son, from coaching his sports to taking him fishing. During that time I taught him right from wrong, and to always be kind to people…..unless they want to hurt you, then defend yourself. so, maybe it starts at home….. I’m just rambling lol, but those are my thoughts on the subject

Way wrong. The school is responsible for providing an education. Not to monopolize on sports and NIL. Also, as a taxpayer I am not going to pay for your kid to come in and take advantage of what was built within the community. If your kid is that good, send them to IMG or a private school known for sports.

Don't let the fact that while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, 'Spare Tire' Dixon, distract you from the fact that this conversation is about a scrimmage.

  31. Two more years... to learn how to catch? Look.. I know it may be hard to hear that they likely have zero players that will lose an athletic scholarship because of the football season folding, but the truth hurts sometimes. It's not meant to be offensive. It's an absolute fact that the chances of a Texas high school football player receiving a scholarship to play beyond high school is miniscule. Roughly 2% receive a scholarship of any kind.. less than 1% receive a full scholarship. If you line up 100 kids from the state (including Westlake, Southlake Carrol, Carthage, Aledo,.. hell... Katy, Barbers Hill, Nederland, WOS..), you honestly think that 2.. or 1.. out of that 100 will be a kid that plays at Sabine Pass High School? Get your feelings out of the equation, dude. And.. believing that a kid incapable of (catching) as a sophomore can somehow be "coached up" and become a scholarship player brings your knowledge of the game into question.

    8-5aD2 vs BYE Week

For PNG, I’d like to see the O-line continue to gel in the run game. La Porte was a big leap forward in how we moved the ball on the ground. I was worried we’d get stuffed all four quarters. The secondary needs work, of course, but it’s much better than last year and the open-field tackling has been back to 2022-2023 form. I hope the state ranking and the big win over La Porte don’t cloud our vision. It’s a tough district, and preseason records don’t tell us everything about how a season will go. I haven’t seen much of Dayton, and nothing from the two Montgomery schools. I think Lake Creek is down from last year. We’ll find out next week. Just going off game results (and Dayton’s first game, which I was able to watch) Dayton and Montgomery are looking good. Huntsville has some issues, especially tackling and the blocking has been spotty, but they’re fast and big and if they tighten up they should be solid. Nederland has to figure out some offense. Until we see if that happens, it’s hard not to wonder what will happen against district opponents. West Fork looks fundamentally sound - I think they’ll surprise some people. Splendora is Splendora.

    PNG @ La Porte

PN-G Fans (Or others from out of area coming to the game)- Most of the restaurants are west of downtown--and the stadium--since the stadium is only a couple hundred yards from the bayfront. I usually recommend people coming early in the day if they can and make an afternoon & evening of it. That way you avoid the traffic on 10 (even 73 was getting bad before we retired) 146, and the Fred Hartmann Bridge. Come early and spend a few hours at the San Jacinto Monument and help support it. (Remember, La Porte is where Texas won Independence from Mexico.) It, and the Monument Inn listed below are only about 15-20 minutes from the stadium, and make for a great few hour trip. The museum is really fun if you enjoy history as a proud Texan. San Jacinto Battlefield Monument | Discover San Jacinto After that, eat at The Monument Inn. If a southern seafood fan, it's hard to beat. Eat a late lunch there, then you'll be ready for the game with plenty of time to park, etc. You can always get another snack at the game and help us pay for that sucker! lol [Hidden Content] Other places to eat that we recommend besides all the normal chain fast food places: Southern Komfort Kitchen - Rustic Steakhouse & Bar | La Porte, TX | Southern Komfort Kitchen Redesign El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant: (Tommy Taco Dinner is excellent. Get them 'all the way'.) - Mexican Food, Breakfast Tacos, Homemade Tortillas in La Porte, TX King's BBQ (Excellent stuffed Spud) Kings BBQ Chili's Chili's Grill & Bar There's also a Walk-On's Sports Bar & Bistreaux if that's your preference. La Porte Locations | Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux 568 There are other good places that I haven't mentioned. These are just a few. Of course, there's always the normal Whataburger, Popeye's, McD's, Burger King, Wingstop. Denny's, Hartz Chicken, DQ, Kentucky Fired Chicken, Waffle House, Subway, Taco Bell, etc.

  42. So you agree that most public mass shootings are committed by white men Demographic Breakdown White: perpetrators are the most common group to commit mass shootings, representing the majority in several studies. Black: individuals are also frequently involved in mass shootings, a significant finding, particularly for community violence. Hispanic: and Asian individuals make up smaller percentages of mass shooters. Other groups, including Middle Eastern and Native American individuals, are involved in a very small number of mass shootings. Context Matters Public Mass Shootings: These incidents, which receive significant media attention, show a higher proportion of white perpetrators, especially in high-casualty events.

Man, that would be awful. In smaller areas like SETX the ensuing free-for-all would lead to a handful of super teams leeching all of the talent around their surrounding areas, with lower classification football being crippled beyond repair. It would also turn into bribing and payment scandals.
