  1. Well Nederland with Neumann, PNG with Joesph or faircloth all of them that was their first head coaching gig and they turned out alright. Gotta take a chance sometimes

  2. I would not think the Nederland job was an entry level position but OK

  3. Standing is not the issue. Mulkey, for anyone who knows anything about her, would never allow kneeling. I would think anyone with any connection to Baylor would know that. The issue is the practice across college basketball, men’s and women’s, of being in the locker room going over game plans, praying (for LSU at least), etc., when the anthem is played. Just like apparently Iowa was as well last year when they played. The issue is clickbait articles talking about a team “walking off the floor” during the anthem (while attaching a video showing nothing of the sort because that was a bold faced lie) and dolts being gullible enough to fall for a headline and share it across social media until it becomes “fact.” The issue is calling maybe the most politically conservative coach in the sport “woke” because again, well clicks. But such is the “low information” society we live in I guess. And for the record LRF, I would prefer the teams being out there standing when the anthem and school songs are played, just like in football, baseball, etc. I’m guessing that will become the norm now and that should have been the story, not the deceiving one that has been circulated. So perhaps some good will come of it. I’m not even an LSU fan and am glad we get to see another game or two of Clark. But if anyone did an ounce of research before posting this trash, they could indict almost every (if not literally every) D1 CBB coach in the country.

  4. More "misleading" news. Starting to feel like the "right" has become the "left" in this department. smh

  5. But I also want it to be the school's choice, certainly wouldn't want government involved in mandating something like this, which is being floated around.

  6. I simply made the point that I think athletes should be present for the National Anthem, not specifically about a particular coach or team. Apparently myself, as well as the governor of LA didn't realize this was so common in college basketball, not for any other reason than final preparation. I still think they should be present, simply out of respect.

  7. Larry Neumann was only at Pasadena Dobie for 7 years before he took the defensive coordinator job at TJ

  8. Which is overkill…..I’m sure you know this but the game plan has been practiced and studied by players before this time comes. All players get a scouting folder with opposing teams strengths weaknesses player tendencies etc etc along with how to attack off/def……but the problem is players don’t study it. i always found that time a waste….. “let’s go get warmed up, sweat come back to locker room for a few minutes just to go back out and warm up again” 🤷‍♂️

  9. Like I have said, it seems like a no-brainer, as far as respect goes, but it is what it is and probably won't change, I'm sure being required to be present for the National Anthem will become another "controversial" issue. Like I have also said, I won't lose any sleep over this one, lol.

  10. it's crazy, considering the whole "fake news" craze, and all of the "low information voter" insults that have been thrown out over the last 6 or so years. Because so much of what gets the right outraged is either misleadingly presented or completely false these days. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty to be upset about, but it's tough when half of what you read is patently false in some way.

  11. I appreciate both of your stances. The libertarian in me doesn’t disagree with Hippy, and the father in me has instilled in my son how to behave when the anthem is played. It’s just that 80-90 percent of the time, they are still in the locker room. And let’s face it, that is a business. Will Wade isn’t now making $700k a year at McNeese due to how his team behaves during the anthem. Which is probably why he is using that time to final prep his team as well. Right or wrong, those guys are coaching for their livelihoods and they all are trying to get the best use out of literally every minute of the day pregame to try and get the win.

  12. Where are our constitutionalist and 1st amendment folks. You can be mad, upset and not attend the games, but revoking scholarships? I think these Judges are stepping on the constitution limiting Trump's free speech.....I feel I would be a hypocrite if I didn't consider this anthem situation a 1st amendment issue as well. --for the record, I think it's disrespectful

  13. Thank you. That’s all I was trying to point out. And I happen to agree with you.

  14. Reading comprehension is key. If you are still lost, I can’t help you. As a friend of mine once told me, stop arguing basketball (or in this instance, its customs) with people who were picked last in PE…

  15. I’m not singling out a particular team in my comments, I just think it’s not too much to ask for all teams to be on the floor for the National Anthem. I agree, lots of teams do this with no ill intent, LSU just seemed to be the ones to bring national attention to it.

  19. Dershowitz is a liberal Democrat and I listen to some of his podcasts on youtube. He doesn’t even hide his beliefs but then discusses what he believes the law says and means. It was maybe a couple of months ago when he was discussing a Second Amendment case in front of the Supreme Court or being considered by them for review. His statement was that had he been a Founding Father, he would have voted against the Second Amendment however he believed that as it was passed and intended to mean, it was clear that the amendment was meant to allow individuals to right to possess weapons and carry them. That was just an example, where he might not like the law or a particular part of the Constitution, but will state his belief that, even though he does not like it, it is what it was intended to be. I don’t think that Dershowitz would ever vote for Trump but he knows a scam when he sees it.

  22. I did see it on Facebook as well. I do not know the person who said it as the post was shared by a friend. Based on the content of the post, it was a resident of Liberty. It was a well reasoned post for the most part but you are right, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

  26. Let me get this straight…. Easter can only happen on a Sunday in March or April, but you believe that back in 2009 Joe Biden picked 3/31 for Transgender Day because he knew that in 15 years it would fall on Easter Sunday just to ruin your Easter Egg Hunt? As a Christian, I’m more upset about the rapist peddling star-spangled Bibles.

  27. Yes, they have played the bottom 3 teams in the present conference standings thus far. At present LU is 2 wins shy of last year's season total and is 7-1 and sitting in first place. 20'10 overall is a good record. Can they continue to win as they move forward in conference playing better teams?
