  3. Works for Katy because they have huge linemen. Power only works if you have Power and if you don’t adjust to your physical strengths you will fail. Neuman was great at adjusting to his talent each year. Nederland will not succeed right now with a power I. they need to get #1 the ball in space. He Good.

  4. Agreed 100%. He needs to plant his flag as soon as possible to send out the message that things are full-circle different now. Best way to do that is actually play football. There needs to be a Nederland spring game.

  5. I like what he said in the interview about he is approaching this as the last job of his life. Hoping he makes that very important connection with kids in all sports. I know Nederland will back him. Defensive coordinator will be crucial decision. I kinda hope he changes to a pro set offense. Huddle. Tight end. Etc. It may work well.

  6. Silsbee extends their district win streak to 38 games. They are now averaging 101 points per game in district play. Giving up 55 per game. Winning district games by an average of 46 points per game. Tigers also wrap up another outright district title. Their 11th in last 12 seasons.

  7. Big Congratulations to Jaden “Ghost” Scales. The young sophomore hit 1000 points tonight. Impressive ball skills and played very unselfishly. Great win by O-field. The entire Bobcat team impressed me tonight

  8. That is a shame. Sounds like the new coach has no chance to turn the program around (because they are playing Silsbee, WOS, and Lumberton in pre-district). Probably will not even matter if they were to "teach fundamentals and technique".

  11. Kountze can clinch an outright District Championship with a win. Orangefield can force a tie and a seeding game with a win, pending they both win their last game.

  12. Word on the street is that the halls and facilities are some sort of bizarro world with the current staff. The usual suspects are all of a sudden “interested” in the kids. Asking about and congratulating kids on other sports, having them run in track events and being concerned. Let’s see if these few days can change the perception of their actions during the last several years…allegedly There are good coaches on the staff and also a handful that just need a change of environment

  15. ST is a must this year....He has a whole new system to implement as well as evaluate personnel. As the AD its on him to make sure ALL that play football participate, as much as possible. Football puts buttss in the seats and fills the coffers.

  16. From an offensive stand point, neither team shot it well in first matchup. I would guess Kountze shot 20% from the field, maybe less.

  18. Congratulations on your new stadium. I remember listening to a dog in the back yard behind the visitors stand some 40 years ago. Great memories there.

  25. This has to be one of the finest 4A facilities in the state. How do we get ourselves one of these? It would be a great playoff venue but it’s out at the edge of the universe,

  27. Yes, DeRouen had the title....RT called plays....And I Think it was Celaya who was after the job at TJ, not Neuman.

  28. I thought Owens left TJ after the 97 season?? I think his last win at TJ was at home versus North Shore. Hope the new hire works out for Ned though. 😎 EDIT: My bad, he did takeover in Tyler starting the 96 season.

  30. Hoping for a new DC and OC, I will say as a former player that some of those coaches deserve to stay. They really do give a crap about the program and the kids. I don’t even think Nederland can afford to clean house.

  31. Really don't have one. Just don't know much about him other than what was printed in the article. I was a little surprised he was as old as he is. Thought NISD would go with a younger coach but that may not mean anything. I haven't seen the applicant list so really cannot say who was the best choice.

  32. “Coach Joseph is entering his 14th year of coaching with experience at several top programs in the state including Katy High School, Katy Seven Lakes High School, 4 seasons as defensive coordinator at Austin Westlake, defensive assistant at Texas A&M University for 3 seasons, defensive coordinator at Magnolia West and special teams coordinator and defensive assistant at Southlake Carroll. He has coached in 3 state championship games and 3 NCAA bowl games.” He left coaching to do sales for a bit, then came back as special teams coordinator and defensive assistant at SLC [Hidden Content]

  35. First off, I don't live in Nederland and never have. Second, I played many games there and coached some games there. The new renovations they are making are the first they have made since even before I played there in the 80's. They are way behind times and they are just now trying to update things. But with the lack of revenue and citizens afraid of their taxes going up. It's hard to get a bond to pass to do the upgrades that are definitely needed. It was a shock to see the bond that did pass to get the renovations done that they have. I know a lot of people that live in Nederland and wish they could get the upgrades that are needed and not just patching up schools to make it look like they have. I'm just saying, if this coach sees that he can't get what he ask for he won't be there long.

  36. And that goes for some of you others who like to gripe about Ned no matter what too. And don’t let the door hit you on the way out.😡

  37. Lol. Seeing as the admin building is directly across from the stadium I doubt it. Also Katy’s old stadium wasn’t anything special either. You don’t like the facilities? Put in your own money or vote for a bond. Stop running down the program. Those facilities aren’t the worst in the state or even this area. Either that or move your butt somewhere where you like the facilities and then you can gripe about the tax rate and the cost of housing.

  39. Splendora was average to above average in 4A… I don’t think they will do well in 5A
    1 point
  40. Possibly but they’re losing a couple of their top players from last year. Their coach is great though and has really turned the program around there. She was my older daughter’s club coach years ago. Her daughter will be a junior next year and is a great setter/RS for them. I think Splendora was a solid 4A program. Not sure how they’ll do moving up. I think a lot of the 5A districts got weaker with teams moving up to 6A. Friendswood has no competition in district now that Manvel is gone. BH’s district got even easier for them, not that they had much competition before.

  42. Leander is 230 miles away so still far down Hwy 7 but, if they were in District 10 and could play all their away games @Delmar Stadium, that's only 125 miles for Lufkin

  46. With what they have returning, I think PNG will be better next year if they can replace Shea. Nyguen will be tough, but Chatagnier and the young RB coming up should be able to fill in. Having most of that O-line back sure makes things easier. Reid Richards is one that hardly came off the field. Kid is a ball player. It may take 2 guys to replace him, but it can be done. As for Shea…PNG won more games with him out this season than when he played. That said, he was never truly out. I commented on many game threads this season about him on the sidelines on a scooter giving signals and rolling around motivating the team and getting in Bailey’s ear after every series. All of his 1 & 2 yard TD’s from the wildcat can be easily replaced. The leadership he displayed the last 2 seasons on and off the field was the difference in my opinion. Stats can be replaced. Leadership is much harder to quantify. If someone can fill Shea’s huge shoes, PNG should have another great season.
