    Jasper vs #6 Bellville

Make it 41-6 and I will tell you a story. Once upon a time, another 4 loss Jasper team met up with Bellville fairly deep in the playoffs. Same Regional Simis as I remember. Jasper of course not given a chance. Bellville had the famed Ernie Koy, Jr who would go on to star for UT and the NY Giants. Final score; Jasper won 41-6. But of course that won't help Jasper this time around........ Oh, if you want to look it up, the year was 1959. Just yesterday in my mind!

  3. Really excited for this game. The last NRG game I saw was Huntsville-Manvel in 2018. Not sure the Hornets can stay with PNG though. The defense has been playing really well but that PNG O-Line will be a challenge. Hornets will probably need some turnovers to have a chance. Also, can’t let PNG get a 2 score lead. If they can keep it a low scoring slugfest, then they may have a chance to steal one. Huntsville has played a very challenging schedule. The last 6 games have been tough opponents and 3 of the non district games were too. So I think they are prepared and can hopefully stay in this one. Regardless, it has been a successful season getting to Round 4 for the Hornets.

  4. Why? Are we really going to put so much emphasis on tournament and non district games?

  7. If you're talking about the last 4 seasons, it's United. If you are talking about the last 20 seasons, no one can compare to what Silsbee has done in that time period. But, currently United and West Brook are the best. No question about it.

  8. Yes he beat RJ up that night! He may be the best high school defensive player I ever seen play. He was so fast running across the field and landing big hits. That was a really good Huntsville defense. Late in the game RJ's mom wanted him out of the game. Sweat was and still is a bad dude!

  9. The luckiest part of that play is the football wound up in the hands of Dre Dunbar who was the fastest player on the team. He ran a 4.49 40

  10. Former Huntsville D-Lineman T’Vondre Sweat is the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. PNG folks might remember him when the Hornets came to town in 2018. He was quite the force.

  12. They are not good. Winless on the season with a couple of 30+ point beat downs.

  19. Idiotic thinking is that the earth does not warm and cool naturally and that we can stop it. Idiotic thinking is also thinking that China, Russia and India will not stand back and laugh while we wreck our economy (while they carry on) with too soon green changes. But hey, it's liberals, what other kind of thinking are they capable of?

  22. I'm a Silsbee Alumni and Silsbee has had some great teams. Beaumont United over the last 4 Years have been so dominant, Silsbee can't make that claim. Silsbee has had teams that have run thru all of Beaumont. There were years Silsbee beat down Central, Westbrook, and Ozen. There have been years Beaumont beat Silsbee by 30 and 40pts. United has 2 Rings and Silsbee has 2. United is #1 in Class 6A. Today, Beaumont is the best in the state hands down.

  32. Silsbee is 2 - 3 on the season. Think we're playing Nimitz tomorrow morning. Ain't that Hamshire Fannett's old coach's team now? Might be thinking of somebody else.

  35. We didn’t necessarily need to adjust on defense. We needed to keep drives going so that SOC would run out of time for a comeback. When they moved a guy over on the d line, they largely took away the run and we started having quick three and outs. They basically said, ā€œWe’ll stack up on the line and force PNG to win through the air against our D1 secondary.ā€ PNG couldn’t throw a fast enough ball on a good day against that secondary, our receivers weren’t quick enough to get open, and the qb was under pressure, so we weren’t going to keep drives open by throwing out of the pocket OR by running in the second half. The only thing I think might have worked would have been to take a Crippen out and put Shae in at QB - Shae could roll out, show pass, and run for a quick four out five yards. And, he might have been able to get a few passes completed as the secondary bit on the qb run. We could have chewed up a couple more yards a run and extended more drives, and just slowed them down a lot. We basically did that offense after crippen got hurt anyway, and Shae got some good runs at the end (and completed a few passes to set up a score) - I think if we had implemented that earlier, they would have had to adjust to the outside, possibly giving us back the inside run lanes. In other words, we could have adjusted to their adjustment and kept them guessing more.

  36. The coaches are definitely legit stratigist for sure. Very happy with how things have been going here at PNG. Been saying forever D wins championships. Although we haven't won it all, it sure is nice to get the chance. I ain't griping!

  37. PN-G did everything it needed to do to stifle the SOC offense in the first half. SOC changed the gameplan in the second half and started throwing the ball around a lot more. Remember, up to that point in the season, SOC fielded a rush-heavy offense that hadn't been forced into the passing game very often. Any time PN-G tried to adjust to SOC's newfound passing game, SOC would go right back to running the ball. It was good coaching by SOC to keep the PN-G defense off balance and it worked. With the amount of talent SOC brought to the table, every coach in the state would be hard-pressed to find a way to make fourth quarter adjustments for that move.

  38. I don't know its hard to adjust to SOC giant WR'S running over PNG small secondary last year, hopefully PNG has beefed up in the secondary. PNG great team with a great coach!

    A mock 5A DI realignment

PAM should schedule four tough opponents. Hell they may lose all four but it would help them for district and the playoffs. That’s what SOC does….

    A mock 5A DI realignment

Everything is shifting because El Paso lost a district....the state is a big puzzle...if El Paso still had their own district I think District 8 would be in Region III, but everything has shifted with one less district to work with....District 11 makes more sense to be paired with District 12 for me.... yes Lufkin has been w/College Station and A&M Consolidated before but A&M and C-State are shifted west to fill out two Austin districts...there was only one true Austin district last time now there's two with Anderson/Weiss moving down to D1 and Rouse moving up to D1...Lehman and Hays shift north out of north San Antonio back to Austin due to movement down there... The extra Austin district comes from El Paso losing a district...lots of moving parts..you absolutely could put district 11 into Region II and move district 8 to Region III, but since this is my mock realignment and I'm going off what I believe the UIL will do this is what I think will happen...

    A mock 5A DI realignment

DeSoto is likely not opting up....Padilla and I both believe they will play in 5A (which is where I have them)....district 11 in my mock makes a better bi-district fit in Region III with the other Austin area district IMO
