Re the 1947, 71-0 game, I've heard about it many times from my father-in-law. PNG kicked off to start the game, my FIL hit the Ned runner, who fumbled. PNG covered the fumble, then scored, and went on to win 71-0. PNG starters laid down on the sidelines for almost the entire 4th Qtr. The '47-'48 team(s) lost only 1 game in 2 seasons, to Lake Charles (in Lake Charles), which was a farce, officiating-wise. My FIL is 93 years old now, and still talks about it.

BWB could be the worst team in 6A. They have to at least be in consideration. The United game could decide that distinction.

I agree with Whs about how well they will be coached and will be very competitive. And the sophomore kid has a chance to be one of the better players in the district. But they may be a couple of years away from being win two or three playoff games good. The 8th grade group should be even better than last year’s senior class, which was probably the best overall group I’ve seen at OF in the last 20ish years.

West Brook had no problem competing in the toughest district in the state before he got there. Hell they made it to the championship game out of that same district. Parents are pulling their kids because of the product he puts out on the field and his inability to even have those kids prepared to play. What does it benefit him and the kids still at WB to try and hold on to kids that didn't want to be there?

I agree with most of your post but this team is far away from PEAKING right now. In the last 4 weeks WOS is 2-2 and the only 2 wins are against Liberty and BC.

The new kid (Jones) will be special unless something goes horribly wrong. He'll certainly get lots of exposure with the Tigers heading back to Arkansas and New Orleans this year. Most think Coach Sigler retires when he graduates, but there's a catch. His little brother will be entering high school by then. Coach Sig is going to be coaching into his mid 70s if he changes his mind. Might get to 1000 wins though.

No disrespect to any of the kids mentioned but personally I’d take Bush as the best player I’ve seen come through Silsbee in the last decade. There all great players but Bush made everyone around him better
