Tiger, the way the hiring process went down combined with the changes he's made has made many WOS faithful on edge. He could not control the hiring process, but he did know the culture at WOS. Again, with everything else going on, changing what made WOS, WOS was not the best idea IMO. By that, he's put himself in a precarious situation. I'll say this, too. I've stated my opinion about the changes, but in that I'm not saying I want him gone. I'm hoping he's big enough to recognize when he's made a mistake and adjust. Cornel did it with his offense after he took the helm in 2011. There's nothing wrong with trying something different. But keeping it just because it's what you want is when it becomes a problem. The measure of a true leader is not about getting it right every time. It's being able to admit when you are wrong and making the necessary adjustments to correct that mistake. Understanding that the program comes first and bigger than you are. This is a defining moment for him.4 points

Man… that district is something… Even if Bellville gets the district championship we still get to play WOS, Silsbee, Jasper , or HF in the first round. I mention all 4 because I think they all have somewhat of a shot at finishing 1-4… My personal opinion thinks it will be Jasper or HF but you never know.2 points -

I think u have a situation where , you have to hire a new DC and def assistants. They want to coach a Defense they are familiar and comfortable with. Just happens that the current players are struggling with playing it, and if things continue to slide down hill, the kids will start to not buy in to the change. Regardless of this weeks outcome, things will probably get better as they play the weaker teams in the district. But if and a big (if) they loose to Silsbee, and HF, gonna be a tough go? Any other school it would work out in time, but the expectations at WOS are so high, that the stress level on all involved may be too much? But, dont be shocked if all this gloom and doom talk is nought, WOS wins out in district , and goes sev rounds in the playoffs. I would consider that a successful first year for Hickman . JMO2 points

Wrong. Hickman started at Silsbee as an assistant, then became Defensive Co. After McGallion retired he put in for head coaching job at Silsbee but did not get it (Randy Smith got the job, still there). Then he was hired by Cornel to be an assistant at WO-S. Hickman has been at WO-S for over 6 years now.2 points -

In a way I think they have already become the norm. As WOSdrummer99 said, it is a classic battle between good and evil. The main problem today is that the evil has been made main stream. Now it seems fashionable to side with evil for political reasons. This isn’t about HS football though and it just happened to be the venue for this incident. Society is the problem. I have posted many times in several forums, when you lock down the schools, a person intent on evil will simply change his target or find another way to hit the same target.2 points -

[Hidden Content] Dear Dr. Esper if your intent in writing this article was to scare us, it worked with me. Having a G’son in the Marines, I can verify a few points you wrote about. I’ve been a proponent of bringing back the draft - for virtually everyone. Maybe a one year stint right out of HS. No college exemptions. Very few exemptions of any kind. You ever notice how much more involved folks are if “they have skin in the game”? That’s one big point for bringing back the draft. Another would be discipline. Take off the kid gloves. Turn the DI’s loose as they used to be. I could go on but you get the idea.1 point

What is it with black students accusing whites of this type of stuff at Duke? Anyone remember the men’s lacrosse team being crucified a few years back for raping a female black student, but was later found to be false. Again, maybe there should be an investigation before these liberal media whores start reporting these allegations as fact.1 point -

I am going with the Tigers on this one just due to how much better Silsbee has played this year. The schedule was not as hard as WOS has had so far, but WOS is reeling while Silsbee is rolling with momentum. Plus the game is at Silsbee. Tigers by at least two TDs1 point -

Yes sir we have and I appreciate your willingness to admit this is a strange move. As a Mustang fan and knowing how other Mustang fans think, time is up. We don't lose to Silsbee (yes, I know we have, but that's the mentality). I'm saying that "tongue and cheek", but really... We DONT lose to Silsbee. I'll also say I appreciate your willingness to be objective about the situation since you're both Silsbee natives and not jumping to his defense (which I know is hard). Heck, I'm pulling for him. He needs to make adjustments so let's see what happens. But, it's kind of like my kids, sometimes. I'm always on their side, but sometimes they sure make things harder than they need to be.1 point

Typically yes. But we are not the typical HS FB program. Our success has made us demand excellence. And no, not everyone wants him gone. I wasn't happy with the hiring process. Not just that it wasn't my guy. Then I jumped on the bandwagon after I got a feel for his character, and heard his comments regarding the future of WOS FB. After reading the preview back in August, I noticed there would be some changes that weren't mentioned before. Consider this, if Silsbee basketball coach left their very dominant program in the hands of an assistant coach who had never been in the position before. Would you expect a completely new style on the hardwood?1 point -

WOS will still win a whole bunch of games. They will still play several rounds deep in the playoffs. They still have quality athletes. Hell, the way the district has been bleeding students the last 2 decades, they could be 3A-D2 one day. They will always be competitive. But…. I don’t feel they will ever be the WOS they use to be. Not unless better decisions, and better hires are made. The further we get away from the DRH and CT era’s, and the impact they had on the program, the more they will decline. How to kill a program? Get rid of any and everyone that had to do with past success, and change the philosophies and schemes that created the success. Coach T was a tough, hard nosed, old school disciplinarian. He was the S&T coordinator. Take that away, and replace him with anyone, and it’s a downgrade. I don’t care what kind of college experience the guy comes from.1 point

As a public school administrator, over the last few years, there have been a substantial increase in student infractions in all areas of discipline, in my opinion. Society, as a whole, is part of the problem. My hope and prayer is that our student athletes will stay focused and continue to be leaders on campuses. Unfortunately, we still have to deal with all the variables that have an effect on school sports.1 point -

Everything in society is being threatened. The classic battle between good and evil. We still pray on the field before every game. It's something that has little affect on the outcome. But more affect on those student-athletes that participate. Sports can save many young men who otherwise wouldn't have that positive support group.1 point -
LCM was clearly the better team but Kincaid players play every play while a bunch of so called LCM studs took plays off. If you cannot learn to go full out all the time then play younger players who want a chance. Terrible tackling by LCM as well as no blocking. Boys where not ready based on what I watched1 point
