  1. Someone else may have a difference of opinion on what this says, but I do not believe you can play both. Scrimmages, yes because that is practice. Here is what I found. (1) Maximum Number of Regular Season Games. No team or student shall participate in more than 10 games during the 11-week regular season, prior to bi-district play. Exception: See below for ten-team districts that zone. Some districts do not play bi-district games and have 12 weeks to play 10 regular season games. (3) Minimum Time Between Regular Season Games. Up to and including the final district game, no team or student in any conference shall be permitted to take part in more than one game within five calendar days. Example: A team playing Saturday night cannot play again until the following Thursday night. A team playing Monday night could play any time on Saturday.

  5. Last couple years we have played up north of us more and less and less of the Beaumont Area teams because of this horrible district alignment. (3 Schools 2 hours or more away) Therefore I have not kept up with the players in this area as much.. The HJ kids are obviously players to watch again. The soph. Monica Bottley at Silsbee was really impressive last year - so she would be on my list for sure. In our district - Palestine has a Junior - Aylasia Fantroy that is very good (17 4A MVP last year), Carthage has a Junior - Jakyra Roberts that is solid also We have senior Jakayla Brown who has started since she was a freshmen - missed several games last year in district but will be one of the top players in our area for sure. Getting close to getting started!!

  7. I made this argument with a friend of mine on Saturday night. I think Carthage has the most disciplined defense in the state. I think Crosby will avg 30 a game for the rest of the season and this is why. Like I said, i feel Carthage has the most disciplined defense in the state, but EVERYTIME time Carthage, missed an assignment, it was a big play by Crosby or a TD. I think the offense is good enough to score on any team from anywhere one the field. The defense seems suspect me. Hey I could be wrong.

  8. I'll give you that and we don't get as many move ins as people think. Although we have big football numbers, we could never realistically compete in 5a D1 for a title. Numbers don't mean they're all talented. We definitely lack depth to play any of the 5A D1 schools and up.

  9. Luckily we will not have to face many more WR's like Silsbee had. I'm sure they will make a few DB's look bad this year.

  11. I think this is spot on. I also think most people who are pro-life (and pro-choice, for that matter), are not willing to put their money where their mouth is. Not too many folks out there are donating money to those causes, or tithing 10% (or even close to that) to allow churches afford to help out. We live in a very selfish society these days, where everyone has strong opinions, but not many people back it up with charitable actions. I may be on the opposite side of the abortion debate as you, but I would definitely prefer this be the answer to the problem.

Raiders could start 2-0, while Silsbee could start 0-2. Enough said.

  13. The only thing I’m going to be disappointed about is being in PA @ 10PM. BH folks are pretty realistic of our expectations. Unlike Crosby we don’t think we’re going to state ever year😂 if we’re competitive game 2 with a new coach showing up mid summer that will speak a lot.

  16. Well I 100% respect what Aledo has done and as much as it pains me to say it yall for now are still the face of Texas football but we are slowly catching up and now that we are in d2 unless coach leaves yall better not slip up are we will pass yall before you know it

  17. Not really. All four coaches that beat our state finals team last year won by more points than y'all just did. Much rather him watch Tim Buchanan who destroyed Crosby or Jon Kay ten minutes down the road where his cousins play in North Shore.

  18. She did some weird things like stopping in the middle of the road, and not being able to follow some simple instructions. I'm not going to second guess the officers, I mean the could of been saving lives.....

  19. He doesn't really care. Only cares about what goes on with his team in Crosby. I went D1 and had a bunch of teammates who were ballers that didn't live the game or research other teams. Kids now days have a lot more to do than sit around and read DC's you used to do back in the day. My older son couldn't have told you who Carthage was either. If the school is not close, if you don't watch the state games on tv or they have played them before, there are a bunch of young kids who don't know who a bunch of good teams are.

  22. Coach Hatch indeed. Matt Maida seemed to have 2 or 3 - 3 pick games. At least 1 for sure. Rick Culbert also had a 3 pick game and finished the season with a significant amount. Matt is the one you're referring too. If he didn't lead the state in picks, he was either tied for first, or missed being tied for first by 1. Want to say he finished the year with 9 or 10 picks. Crazy when you consider he's like 5'7. He did get an all state honorable mention. So did Keith Ingle at DE. That defense was stout. I want to say they finished in the 2002 4A defensive state rankings in 4th, allowing just over 160 yards per game. And that was averaged in with having 2 really atrocious games allowing near 300 if i remember correctly. I believe Coach Burks is the current DC, and he was the DL/DE coach during this time. He knows this game very well. If you had to handpick anyone to take Coach Hatch's place, it would be Coach Burks...and conveniently enough, he was already there.

  27. For the Crosby fans looking for the positives. We can look back at the ‘18 game. We were huge underdogs and took out a very talented team: Josh Coltrin - QB signed with Tulane Garrison Johnson - RB signed with Syracuse. Donovan Eaglin - RB signed with Michigan State. Ladarius Owens - RB signed with Texas Southern(fastest RB I’ve seen Crosby on the field with besides Earnest Patterson from Brenham) Jalen Paxton - WR signed with Tulsa. Jalen Walthall - WR with multiple FBS offers but did not sign, maybe grades or decided to run track? Layden Robinson - OT signed with A&M. Kori Roberson - DE signed with Oklahoma. I can’t remember who the dbs were but I’m sure a couple of them went D1 also. Crosby beat them without having a single FBS signee that year. [Hidden Content]

  28. “Due” to covid? It has everything to do with it there big dog. If you’re canceling games for covid, and school is still in session, that’s not a good look at all…especially a school HD’s size. I mean if they’re having a “covid” outbreak on the football team that’s causing them to cancel games, you’d think that’d be enough to cancel school?

  29. Ah, Coach Hatch! He was probably one of the best DC's Coach Mathews has ever had. Vidor had a few All-State mentions on defense when he was here.
    1 point
  30. Vidor had a big, bald headed, DC many years ago. They were one of the top teams around in interceptions and one kid was close to the lead statewide in interceptions. What a genius. Wish the Pirates had another like him because 95% of teams today live and die by the pass. Of course I’m basing it on Silsbee, and with their basketball/ football players, they probably have some of the better receivers around. If nothing else, basketball players can catch a pass. There are still four more games to get the secondary clicking before District. Let’s hope they work it out.

  31. Carthage might be 4AD2 in enrollment, but everyone knows their football numbers are WAY higher than the average 4AD2. Athletes flock to places like Carthage. 2 classification difference doesn't hold water in this case.

  33. This issue I have with the DBs is that they are 7-10 yards off WRs and are flat-footed till the WR is even with them. If your flat-footed and even…I’m leavin! Get out of man and play a cover 3 or 4.
    1 point
  34. secondary is decent on screens and roll outs, but when a pass is 15+ yards, the secondary forgets who they're supposed to cover and zero help over the top, and the DBs can't pin point the ball when it's thrown their way and won't turn around til the last millisecond. I was surprised Vidor didn't get more PI's last week. it's atrocious than years past but it can be shored up, hopefully.

  36. Enough said? Would strength of schedule have a say? I say, Silsbee would go 2-0 if they played Columbus and Buna while Lumberton would go 0-2 if they played Vidor and Jasper. But, I understand the silly talk. Carry on.

  39. Don't over look the Cougars. The Defense played well last week and held BC offense to 14 points.Defense has a lot back from last season and they have good speed. Offense struggled a little last week. They have a new head coach with a new offense.I think this could be a good game for both teams.

  40. If folks really cared about the unborn, they would donate to crisis pregnancy centers. There are a lot of folks walking around because the mother visited one and were able to get counselling rather than go to planned parenthood. Churches, food pantries, the list is long where folks can get help when the child is born. We're in trouble if our main source of benevolence is the gov, they've been battling the war on poverty for decades, and it's gotten worse...by design. What have the democrats done in the last 50 years to improve the lives of the impoverished? Having an economy that is rolling along and providing jobs for folks is the only answer, not generational gov assistance. IT WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM! I think the majority of folks in this country don't want to have to 100% provide for themselves and their own. God help us.
