My theme song, Glory Days by Bruce Springsteen. When I was on the swat team up until I was about 45 years old, I would run up to 8 miles a night to stay in shape. I never got into really heavy weights but weighing about 180 pounds, I was bench pressing 250. On one raid at a drug house, I was the ram officer who had to knock the door open. I wore about 35 pounds of body armor and weapons and carried a 72 pound ram two blocks through an alley running to be able to sneak up on the house quickly. Boom, the door came down. After 10 years of doing that I got off the team. That was 20 years ago. Now I am not sure that I can walk two blocks😂😂😂4 points

Hagar’s Ramblings
Bigdog and 2 others reacted to WOSdrummer99 for a topic
I had an encounter with Jeff co swat once. I was a maintenance man at a complex in bmt. Got a page about 2am about a major sewer backup. As was wheeling the snake down to the apartment, 2 swat guys came around the corner with guns drawn. Those red dots hit my chest and they immediately split and went right around me. I left the snake were it was... I had another mess to clean up.3 points -

Supreme Court Rules for High-School Cheerleader Brandi Levy in Free-Speech Case
thetragichippy and one other reacted to tvc184 for a topic
In this case they did not clear all off-campus speech as permissible. The United States Supreme Court in this case ruled very specifically for her situation. She criticize the school rules (which are open to criticism), did not specifically mention her school and it was a private conversation between her and a couple of friends. The school still retains the ability to regulate off-campus speech if it disrupts the school significantly. In this case the school’s evidence of a serious disruption was that students in an algebra class discussed it for five or 10 minutes for two days. I am going to show just a couple of quotes from the actual Supreme Court decision. The opinions afterwards are mine but the quotes are the opinion of the Court Held: While public schools may have a special interest in regulating some off-campus student speech, the special interests offered by the school are not sufficient to overcome B. L.’s interest in free expression in this case This section shows that the school may have a special interest in regulating off-campus speech. In the phrase “in this case” it shows that is a case by case basis, not always a free speech at any cost ruling nor is off campus free speech unlimited. (2) The circumstances of B. L.’s speech diminish the school’s interest in regulation. B. L.’s posts appeared outside of school hours from a location outside the school. She did not identify the school in her posts or target any member of the school community with vulgar or abusive language. This is the part where it was a generality and did not target any specific person or group in her profanity. Any such action might have upheld the school’s actions but in this case as I have discussed, it was just a general I don’t like school rules but with the F bomb tossed in. That is free speech. Anything more specific likely would not have been. Of course it would still be free speech even if it was specific but the school would likely retain the right to punish her by removing her from a special team. (4) The school’s interest in preventing disruption is not supported by the record, which shows that discussion of the matter took, at most, 5 to 10 minutes of an Algebra class “for just a couple of days” and that some members of the cheerleading team were “upset” about the con- tent of B. L.’s Snapchats. App. 82–83. This alone does not satisfy Tinker’s demanding standards. Pp. 10–11. (5) Likewise, there is little to suggest a substantial interference in, or disruption of, the school’s efforts to maintain cohesion on the school cheerleading squad. This quote from the Supreme Court again goes to the very specific situation being discussed. It again shows that there was no substantial disruption of the ability to maintain authority in the school or the cheerleading squad itself. Merely a person being upset it’s not a violation. That is what the very essence of free speech means, that you can upset other people. The school has an interest in maintaining discipline however such a case is narrow in scope. It really comes down to one or two people or even a few people not liking her post, that is no way constitutes a serious disruption. While this case is clearly the correct decision, free-speech does not allow that you can say anything you want to about your school, a student, a school official, etc., at any time for any reason. As several parts from the Supreme Court decision have stated, the school does have some authority and reasoning for regulating off-campus speech. It however has to be of such a disruptive nature that can be proven for them to take action. Merely saying to heck with school rules but tossing in a little profanity, does not constitute that major disruption. In someways the very ruling itself agrees with Justice Thomas’s dissent. He states that a disruption is wrong and the rest of the court states that it’s wrong but they came to different conclusions on what a major disruption is.2 points -

Ok, how many more 7-11/donut shops do we need? Next time you are in a group of cars taking off from a stop light, kinda hang back from “the pack” and watch anyone turning left from the oncoming traffic will turn in front of you. They aren’t about to wait for the last car, which is you. It could be clear for miles behind you but they will still turn in front of you.1 point

USPS Mail Carrier Caught Tossing Mail Instead Of Delivering
BMTSoulja1 reacted to CardinalBacker for a topic
Bridge City's mail service was moved to Orange and then it got horrible. We'd go 7-10 days with zero mail in our whole subdivision... then one day you'd see three mail vans covering the neighborhood. It was just our carrier. She'd get behind and then take off of work until her coworkers caught her route back up. You could forget about getting a package or certified mail delivered. She'd just chunk an orange card and be on her way. Supposedly our US rep's office had a file on that particular carrier. I've always had the opinion that it's what happens when you stop trying to hire the best person for the job and start hiring/promoting based on all kinds of "qualifications" that have nothing to do with a person's ability to stuff mail in a mailbox, then remove all accountability because of union/civil service protections.1 point -

Reagan reacted to Derf Nosneb for a topic
So now I can guess you're an under 30 something troll with no understanding of the way government works so once again we must educate you. "which policies" my quote, was the question asked of you. Your response "Lets start off with the trillion dollar deficits." Did you just skip civics class or you are actually that stupid to think deficits are policy? The House holds the purse strings in this country, the House of Representatives come up with the budget, moves to the senate and POTUS signs or vetos the budget. "Just like I said.. big spending and deficits don’t matter when team R is in office" The president has no control over the mandatory budget or its deficit. That includes Social Security and Medicare benefits. The Constitution gave Congress—not the president—the power to control spending. Presidents inherit their predecessors' policies. President Obama had the largest deficits. By the end of his final budget, FY 2017, his budget deficits totaled $6.781 trillion over his eight years in office. That's a 58% increase from President George W. Bush's last budget. Trump had a 33% increase with a global pandemic and Bush had a 57% increase with 9/11. So now that I gave you a short education in middle school civics, I will ask once again, Which "POLICIES" of the last administration puts Trump in the same category as Obama and Clinton.1 point -

I work at a Vidor bank and this has been an on going issue for several years. Customers constantly call about not receiving their bank statements. I get at least 2 complaints a week. Old people that still use bank statements know to the day when it should arrive....lol My brother lives there as well, and my sister in Lufkin, me in Lumberton. We all received a few pieces of mail from the same place when my father passed.....My sister and I got all of our mail on same or next day, while my brother received his 7-10 days later.....Vidor's post office is horrible.1 point -

Right about the time that I think the message is getting across that "we" just want voter integrity (not to hamstring the minority vote) the Texas Rs slip in a provision that will curb the "pews-to-the-polls" events that have historically been legally successful in getting black voters to the polls. Problems with HS Football forum
WOSdrummer99 reacted to WOSgrad for a topic
Sorry about that folks. What happened was yesterday, as scheduled. It was time to rotate the forums so that the fall sports, football and volleyball, to the top and the winter main winter sports, boys and girls basketball underneath it. While volleyball went easy enough, but the basketball forums gave me problems and the football forum wanted to be a little snit. In moving it, somehow the football forum, where you can have topics, became a category, where is just housed other forums. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw what happened. Thankfully, it was an easy fix to turn it back into a forum and, even more so, all of the topics that were there reappeared. About 11 pm last night, all was right......well, as right as it can be,1 point -
