Good luck District Champs

I'm thinking about how the strength of a district can artificially inflate a team. I was looking at district strength according to Texasfootball.com. 12-5a ranks as the second toughest district in the state. 9-5a ranks as the 6th. A great example of this is Fort Bend Marshall. They are ranked number 3 in the state. They are in a HORRIBLE district. They win every game by 50 points because they are playing lackluster opponents. This week we will see if Texas High deserves the number 5 ranking in the state or if their soft district has artificially inflated their record. Week 14 computer rankings (the last available i could find) had Texas High as 10th in the state and Crosby as 11th. Before the Nederland loss of course Again, this should be a slugfest. Gonna be one of the best games of the year IMO.

Mine is. I remember folks laughing and laughing last year. “Get back to me when they beat Silsbee or HJ” they said. I did. In year one. Oh and they also beat 30-2 Huffman to bounce them on their ear out of the playoffs. All with their best player on JV. One of these days I will be wrong on a HS basketball prediction. I mean I assume. Has to happen eventually. But I could be wrong. Livingston appears better than we gave them credit for. Huffman could finish 4th.

Not sure I'd hire a coordinator that could potentially replace you based on reputation alone. I know that every OC/DC is a potential head coach.. but hiring a name like that is a good way to get yourself pushed out. Plus, it's no secret that Briles likely wants to be a head coach.

Texas High will not be surprised by Crosby's speed...Texas High hung with Longview very well at the start of the year. Longview has some of the top speed across the board of any program in Texas... I think this is going to be one to the top 2 games in 5AD2 this week...it should be a slobber knocker...I don't get the blowout predictions. This game will come down to the Texas high defense. When it comes to the state championship game Carthage is just a machine...give me Carthage to win another state title

I'm sure that Gilmer's got a quality team because it seems like they always do, but they're going to have to be flawless and then get some breaks to win this game. Carthage is just unreal.

The reason why all hires are crap shoots, is because there is much more to factor, when evaluating the success of a football program, than just the head coach. Which is something that many on this site fail to realize.
