And I answered his tweet with this comment: I guess my issue would be 0-10, 1-9 teams getting in while 6-4, 7-3 teams stay home. I think all districts should have a minimum of 7 teams if you're going to have 4 teams qualify. Right now the current playoff system is more about geography and not about success. Here's another way to look at it: Coach A is coach of a team in a district with 7 teams. He has compiled a record of 37 wins and 16 losses over the last 5 years, making the playoffs 1 time, advancing to the 3rd round. Coach B is a coach in a nearby district (less than 50 miles) that has 4 teams in the district. He has compiled a record of 11 wins and 44 losses, making the playoffs all 5 years, not winning a single playoff game. Coach A has beat Coach B's team soundly all 4 times in non district play. Yet Coach B resume can state he has been to the playoffs 5 times more than Coach A. I really don't have that big of an issue with 4 teams going as long as every district has a minimum 7 teams. A playoff system (any and every playoff system) should never have 0-10, 1-9 teams qualifying. I am old school for sure. I don't like this "participation ribbon" society that we have become.

Watch out for Woden this year. Hannah Hawkins from Livingston is there and she will definitely light up the division! 14 points in this one and she hasnt been acclimated to the offense yet. I expect a big year from her.

I understand the disenchantment with the offensive scheme, I agree it needs to be used only about 40% of the time, but as a fellow coach I look at amazement and wonder at the great job Coach Matthews has done there. He is the type of coach I strive to be like, an unselfish servant leader. Believe me, the fruits of his labor will be seen 10 years down the road as these young men take all his lessons into becoming a husband and father. This is the REAL reason we coach, also why I’m going back in the fire next year. God told me he needs my sweat equity to enter the next realm. I could see vidor doing a multiple systems offensive approach like Ohio St, gives us defensive coordinator s hell.

Since 99-00 so it’s about a .500 average but you have to understand where the program was before he came along. Vidor was BAD, real bad. We had about 20 years of suck, so I’ll gladly take 20 years of average with the occasional excellent season. You really don’t need to add anything PA, we already know how you feel. You’ve already made that clear all season long. If you know it all go get you 100 wins somewhere as a coach smart ass. And no I don’t need to ‘politic or kiss butt’ to coach Mathews for any reason. And that is not all the story. Jasper also tied Huntsville. Huntsville beat Hebert, and went on to win the state championship. Never long for the good ole days when only one team made it out of district. In Jasper's only trip to the state finals, they were the third place team out of their district.

As I spent Friday Saturday and Sunday at Port Arthur Memorial Stadium watching A LOT of football, I couldn't let the weekend pass without congratulating of of the Champions from this weekend. I know some are disgruntled with the league but, I can only speak for my son and myself when I say that the past 5yrs have been a joy for us. I can't leave out the cheerleaders. Hosting/working the Superbowl the past two years has giving me a new found respect for the ladies who tirelessly work with and COORDINATE (E.R.) the routines, hairstyles, cheers for the little ladies of STJFL. You all rock!

HF went 8-1-1 in mid 90s I think it was 1995 and didn’t make playoffs one of the best teams they had in my opinion.

This is such a lame argument. If you drive down the road with your kids in the car and you get stopped by the police, if you have warrants and are taken to jail, guess what, you get separated from your kids. No cop on earth is going to throw kids in a jail cell with their parents. Same as with the detention centers at the border. Crossing illegally is a CRIME and you will be detained and separated from your kids. That is the law, not something unique to Trump.

She was pretty solid. She had ups and downs during the game dealing with HJ's length but she responded well and was a true pg.

This match up is one of the harder ones to call IMO. Willowridge has gotten better each week and so has Crosby. I'm taking the Eagles in a scoring fest.

Being a devoted fan for your team is the key. All teams need fans in the stands whether the team is a playoff team, or if they only get 1 win on the season. Also, band parents, I am glad that you support your kids playing at halftime, however, these are football games, not band concerts. The football players need all of the fans support, stay to the end every game. PNG faithful get your tickets this week, be there early for the game & show that Indian pride. Totally commit your support to the team, or stay home, we need fans who are there to root on the boys doing their best. Period!!!

Crosby wins this! I think we split with that district.

Even with roschon last year we were totally impotent. The defense looked like they weren’t even running next to the FB Marshall guys. Even if we play our absolutely best game, we lose. I think they could afford to go down by 20 and still come back. Too fast. Always be faithful, though. I’ll be there cheering on the Indians, and maybe the same angels that helped LSU will come help us (though we need a lot more help than LSU did).

Magnolia scored 35, Kingwood Park scored 35 and PNG just scored 35. That’s pretty much a 1/3 of your games where you gave up 35 points on a weak schedule. I believe that was Branch’s first game even playing and Dunn played a good portion of the game at qb, he looks completely different now after a few games. BH’s defense was greatly helped by the wind that night too, to the point Crosby didn’t even punt past the sticks one time in the first quarter plus an awful interception. Crosby’s defense held PNG to 7 while BH gave up 35. If I do what you did with Crosby and Manvel I can also say BH’s defense isn’t good because PNG only scored 30+ points four times all year. 4A Silsbee, a bad Lee defense, a worse Dayton defense and BH. You’re still judging the way you played off a Crosby team that isn’t very good. There’s a reason BH hasn’t ever won a playoff game in 5A, reality rolls around in November.

I saw SA play Tenaha and they are VERY good but have they played anybody besides Hemphill? My picks are SA, Jasper, WB, Diboll. Newton has a shot, but it’s a long one, imo.

My dislike of the current playoff system has nothing to do with Silsbee. But you already knew that. Always trying to dis the Tigers when you can. My point is I think it's a complete joke to have a team make the playoffs without winning a single game or just one game but yet there are teams that won 6 maybe even 7 games and do not qualify. I agree with bullets. I wish there was a way to adjust the playoff qualifiers by how many teams are in a district. 4 team district, 2 go. 5 team, 3 go, 6 team, 3 go. Only allow districts of 7 teams or more to send 4. That way, you have to win at least 2 district games to make playoffs.

Small school ball is completely different than what most folks on here can appreciate. The scoreboard doesnt define the young men playing every single snap of the game. Win or lose.

Hey, I gotta give Crosby a little bit... They could have just fallen and stayed down, but they didn't. They continued to play hard and got better. When I saw Crosby play Dayton, I didn't think Crosby was any good at all, I just knew that Dayton was terrible. But they got better, and put together some wins. Congrats.

Playoff games are about matchups, and PNG just drew the worst one by getting the best player in the region. I’ve seen Aledo and Calallen stop him but that’s about it. If PNG does any better against Achane than 15 carries for 200 yards and a few tds it’ll be a good job. FB Marshall put over 50 on PNG and beat them by 40 last year so I think PNG fans know limiting the damage Malik Hornsby does to you is the real key. Only bright spot in this one is that all their studs graduate this season so PNG will have a better shot in 2020 should they draw FB Marshall a third consecutive year.

Nederland. Coming off a co-championship season and were picked to be good with talented athletes. Will finish 4-7, with a blowout loss to Manuel and talented athletes never showed up

I just left the local Piggly Wiggly. I spotted a hoodied up older fella talking to Brandon Fairclothe. So I snuck around the aisle behind and pulled a fruit loops box off the shelves and stuck my head in to hear the convo. All I heard was.... Thanks Faircheif, this is a kickback from my son in law, where’s the playbook, if you could have seen him play... Then he left.... So I scurried outside and seen a vehicle pull off and the plates said #uncLNretired... I have no idea who dis may be but it was a serious conversation. If anyone has any info let me know. I went by the local hangouts and it’s all quiet in Nederland today. So maybe someone could help..... Possibly a playbook? Maybe BanDog can help....

In this day and time, if you’re not able to finish at least 4th in your district and not make the playoffs, that is the definition of disappointment. Let the playoff t-shirt sales begin!
