Flipping Red

I hope and expect many counties and states to flip red.  I just hope the right doesn't make the same mistake the left has, and go off the deep end trying to ram through ultra conservative legislation.  It's been democrats like AOC, Kamala Harris, Illhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Stacey Abrams and Nancy Pelosi that are so far to the left that they're running off swing voters, and even traditional moderate democrats.  But republicans like Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene are just as crazy on the right, and could have the same effect.  I guess we'll see how it plays out.

What ultra conservative legislation worries you?

I'm not opening up that can of worms with you, just stating an opinion (that i'm confident is a fact).  Most people with common sense look at certain politicians and are concerned.  There are several currently on the left that scare the crap out of me, and that holds true for many voters, which will play a big part in the major shift we're about to see.  A lot of regular people are sick of the "woke" movement, and will vote accordingly.   That said, if republicans interpret this as an opportunity to pass similarly polarizing legislation, it will backfire.  Our country's history is full of scenarios where a party mistook people voting against the opposite party as support for their own ideas.

There is no "similarly polarizing legislation".

The hard left wants to open the borders and go soft on crime among a million other ludicrous policies, the hard right wants to lower taxes, lessen government and save the unborn.

No comparison and no need to worry.

The left is to blame for the center moving way to the left.

the right just want to move it back to where it used to be…..which will look like extreme(for the left)givin how far it’s moved but it’s not extreme at all.

and I highly doubt we ever get back to true conservative values as a whole….history has proven people are undisciplined and mentally weak.

now saying that I get your point….but I don’t see that happening.  As far as majority of each party which side has came up with the most ludicrous legislation?

look at how many names you named on the left and you could add a lot more to that list.

I understand emotionally polarizing. People hate it when you stick your finger in their face and say “I am better”. It doesn’t matter the argument.  People hate being told they are wrong.

But let’s step back and look at reality and history.

Do conservatives think about pushing a more aggressive guns rights (actually just upholding the 2A) than in the 1970s? 80s? 90s? 2000s? No, it has pretty much been the same all along.

How about cutting taxes? Is that a radical agenda? Has it changed?

Securing our border? New and radical? In fact that is supposed to be such a priority under the Constitution that the right against unreasonable search and seizure under the 4A, doesn’t exist at the border. It is so important that under the Constitution, you have no privacy rights at the border. Again, is that a new and radical agenda? Is that pushing the hard right?

Now that look at the Democrat side of open borders. How about Senator Obama saying that border security was important? President Clinton? They publicly stated that securi the border was a vital issue.  How about President Obama saying the same and urging Congress to add more money to strengthen the border.

This is the hidden content, please

But let’s compare that to now. Do the Democrats think more about securing the border down as they did when President Obama and President Clinton were in office? Obviously they want the borders wide open now, regardless of what it will cost the US taxpayers, regardless of what it will cost people looking for jobs that are American citizens, etc. The Constitution gives an absolute right to secure the border yet The Democratic now are bent on opening the floodgates. Has that been their position all along in the last 50 years or is this in the last couple of years because Trump wanted to build a wall? Who has become radical?

How about men competing as woman from the Democrat perspective in 19070? 80? 90? 2010?

Have conservative agendas made a radical shift?

Have the Democrats? I hate to say liberal because I’m not even sure the current Democrats (leadership, necessarily voters) are anything approaching liberal. I think it is pure socialism if sometimes outright insanity.

It seems like one side has gone off the deep end in utter stupidity it is not from the conservative side.

Right now in Florida there is the bill that is making Democrats nationally go out of their minds. That is until they reach the fourth grade, you can’t discuss changing their sex from males or female on any of those types of conversations. The national Democrats are putting this up as a proof that the country is going down the wrong road because the Republicans want to keep sex change conversations out of the classroom until the children are about 10 years old. Horrible right wing agenda? How many of you remember as a first or second grader having a teacher discuss changing your sex? Is that a radical idea from conservatives to keep that out of the classroom until until…. Fourth grade? Horrible!!! Radical!!! Or perhaps the Democrats have really gone off the deep end of the pool?

No, It is not some new radical kind of conservatism as opposed to agendas from the Democrats. It should be very clear to anyone that gets away from emotional issue of my team against your team, there’s something strange is going on with the national Democratic Party. If a Republican says yes, they will automatically say no, no matter the topic.

I even think that behind closed doors or in the privacy of their homes or at least in their thoughts, some of the Democratic legislators are cringing but are not allowed publicly to be in opposition of Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and others who ARE radical. Look what happened when Senator Mancin came out publicly recently and opposed to changing over a hundreds of years rules in the Senate about the filibuster. They would have forced him out of the party but it would have given the Republicans a majority in the Senate.

Does anyone really think that 100% of the national Democratic legislators, and in particular the women, think it is good to have men competing as women in women’s sports, in beauty pageants, etc.? I think that even possibly a majority are totally against that. So how come they don’t join the Republicans in a bipartisan bill to ban this insanity? It is simple, they can’t. Like all of the insanity currently happening, they can’t be seen as agreeing with the “other team”.

There is radical and dividing politics going on right now and it’s not coming from the conservative side.

For those that believe otherwise, let’s say that the Republicans take over Congress and the next election in 7 months (which is entirely possible). Please list the radical agendas that will come from the new conservative and Republican Congress.

Excellent post, and says well what we’re all thinking.  I can’t imagine a real “radical” conservative agenda that would be supported by more than two or three nut jobs at the most.  But as you said, normal conservative agendas are now portrayed by the Dems & MSM as radical.

Agreed. And there are more than a handful of Liberals that need to keep their traps shut, but the media will run cover for them. So the Liberals get to scream nonsense as loud as they like while Republicans have to walk on eggshells to prevent even the slightest hint of "crazy" (as judged by a Liberal) from being disseminated throughout. Hell, the Conservatives don't even have to act out of line before being accused of it.

This is one of my big fears.  I can't wait to see which jerk from the Republican side starts calling for Biden to be impeached immediately after the mid-terms based not on "high crimes and misdemeanors," but rather on " because they did it to Trump two times."

One of my concerns, and this isn't a jab at Trump, is that some of his biggest supporters and cheerleaders are some of the biggest goofballs on the right.  So assuming he gets the republican nomination, he doesn't need Boebert and Greene and others that come off borderline looney trying to stump for him.

The people on the extreme left AND the extreme right both fail to realize that their views aren't guiding the party, they're driving the moderates away.

It's the reason that Trump got stomped in 2020 and will also get stomped again if he wins the nomination in 2024.  The public literally elected a buffoon and a black woman (because face it... that's the only reason she even got on the ticket) because they hated Trump.... nothing has changed.... they still hate him.

Want to lose in 2024?  Keep yelling about abortion, building walls ("send 'em back") and any other platform drives the moderates away.   It amazes me how the extremists on both sides believe that they can cram their garbage down everybody's throats because THEIR flavor of crazy is "right" and the other guys' is "wrong."

We've literally got rampant inflation, a possible global conflict, supply chain issues, the ongoing pandemic, a crime wave, and all Republicans want to talk about is stripping a young woman's right to an abortion.

Makes perfect sense.

But the babies!!  Face it.... nobody cares about those unborn children.  And they danged sure don't care about those children who actually survive childbirth to mothers who didn't want them.  What they really want is for THEIR version of morality to be enforced on everybody.  How many of y'all make annual donations for poor/needy kids?  Anybody here ever adopt a stranger's kid?

I didn't think so.

Does a jerk from the other side elicit the same reaction from you? Do those jerks hurt their party in the same why? (Rhetorical). Why not? Is it because of Trump's actions or does the media sway the temperature in favor of one party? Does the media refer to these people as "jerks" or "patriots"? Do the jerks you refer to have impunity or need to walk on eggshells based on which side of the political isle they hail from? (Again, rhetorical.) Will you blame a political loss on the "jerk"? (Again, rhetorical.) Have fun fuming at and chastising the new "jerk" while ignoring the other jerks.
